Hello,

Another easy way to hear the version of Jaws is to alt + tab to Jaws, then
press the up arrow once and it will read the version of Jaws.

Hi again, Milton. On the other hand, if I follow your steps with one change,
it does give the JAWS version information. I will outline the steps below.

Hold the JAWS key and press the letter J. This will put focus on the JAWS
icon.

Press ALT + H which is the Help Menu and press the letter A. You should then
hear the version information.

Hello,

If you downloaded your copy of JAWS 2019 through the JAWS Update notification you will probably need to go to the website of Freedomscientific and download the latest version of JAWS from the Download page. I had a similar problem and when I downloaded the program from the download page then Recognize with JAWS worked.

Right now 2019 is the current version.

Go to about in jaws to see the build no. Bring up jaws then go to the help menu then down arrow to about jaws.

And it is more reliable.   There is a "speed is of the essence" element to just hitting the Windows Key and starting to type a search.  It must be initiated very quickly and if it isn't, it doesn't cause search to be triggered.  I've had this fail on many occasions if I get a distraction just after I hit WinKey but don't start typing my search immediately.

WinKey+S actually brings up the Search Window with your cursor sitting in the criteria edit box, and it will stay there until you complete the search or dismiss the window using Esc.

That's very nice but it still needs to be resolved if Chrome is not the default browser.  I can't find my new bookmarks in Chrome but only if I do a search for them.  Where the heck are they stored?  I'm sorry if this has already been discussed, which I think is the case.

This won't work for Chrome of course, because it stores favourites in the
registry.

But to manually add a favourite to your desktop, just create a text file,
give it the extension .url, put in a URL, save it to the desktop and you're
done. Your default browser will load it.

I think Favorites is stored under c:\users\Barbara or whatever your user
name is on your system. When you're there, just hit f for Favorites, and
send it to the desktop. On the desktop, find Favorites, and create the
shortcut key. Now, you can create folders and subfolders to your heart's
content. I certainly do. Sometimes, you find that a certain favorites should
have been in another folder or subfolder than the one you originally placed
it in.
