Hi all,

I have a new windows 10 laptop with office 2019 installed. Every time
I start or restart the machine, word starts and opens a blank
document. How can I stop this from happening?

Thanks,

Re: Jaws 2018 Photos question

Hi.

You can use JAWS’s new-ish OCR feature to recognise text in photos. It works at least some of the time. The easiest way is to go to the file’s location using File Explorer, activate the context menu with the applications key or shift-f10, and pick the “recognise with JAWS option”. Wait a little bit, and a window should pop up that you can navigate. If the software is able to recognise any text, it will be displayed in that window.

I’m trying to hunt for a good PDF Converter app for my Iphone SE with Voice Over, or a P.C. Dell with JAWS and NVDA on it. I need one for both college and for my climatology group, 350.Org to make their paperwork more accessible to screen reader users. Does anyone know of any good PDF converters that are accessible to screen readers?

Debby,  I turned on the touch curser with Shift+PC Curser, but I guess that I don’t understand what the use is for the Touch Curser, because I did not hear anything except some funny little bumping sounds.  I could not get the PC Curser to come back on by just pressing the PC Curser key twice as instructed.  I got the PC Curser back by pressing the JAWS Curser key twice and I heard the Invisible Curser come on and then I pressed the PC Curser key once and got my PC Curser back.  This was after some other experamenting with key combinations and a bit of anxiety until I got it back.

Hi Mike,

To start using the touch cursor it is shift plus pc-cursor. To turn it off it is pc-cursor twice.

I have found few documents that I cannot convert using JAWS and Adobe Reader.  You can also open the document in Word with the current Office 365.  If the document is only a picture of the text, you can scan using JAWS OCR.  Some people recommend the PDF converter in Chrome.

Hi:

I find it easier to use the Google drive app to upload files to Goole and using the Google app you can click on the Google drive app and see all of the files you have in Google drive.

Have a good day.

Subject: Help wanted

Hello:
I have problems which I want you lovely chaps to help me about. It is all about Google drive and dropbox on my computer. I don't understand how they now work.
I downloaded and installed google drive's backup and sync on my computer, but it doesn't open. Again, when I intend to upload my folders and files on to drive using the drive.google.com page, I get to the new button: I hear new button collapsed: when I press space bar on it, I hear expanded, but then I don't find any where that tells me to upload anything.
I even downloaded google chrome data, but when I am using it with drive, it just suddenly disappears, and I hear JAWS professional which means that Google chrome data has disappeared. I tried it several times by relaunching the program, but the same thing happens.
Can anyone please kindly help me about this problem? how can I get around it On the other hand, I have dropbox installed on my computer and mobile phone as well.
The problem I have with dropbox is that I cannot upload folders. I could do this at a time, but some time ago, dropbox updated it's program, and I can no longer find any link to upload folders. I only find links to upload files. I did upload files, but they are very difficult to locate, because they are just to many and they are scattered all over the place. Maybe I don't know where to find the link to upload folders: can anyone help? I infact want to delete the files I have on the program, and upload the folders containing all those files.
Hope to read a response from you lovely chaps.
Regards.

Hi, Jessica. I have friends who still use Windows 7, and they are using JAWS 2019. If Windows 7 is still compatible with JAWS 2019, then it follows that Windows 8 would be compatible as well.

Hello,
Our use jaws 2019, and it seems to work well with that. In order to use jaws 2019, you have to have windows 10. I'm not sure, but I think windows eight and 8.1 will also work.
