Group Distribution Lists with JAWS

Joe DiNero

Good Afternoon Folks,

Hoping everyone is having a good Saturday so far today. I am looking to start an email distribution list for an organization I am heavily involved with and looking for recommendations Yahoo vs Google Groups vs groups.io. I tentatively started a groups.io list but in testing signing up/approval process I could not figure out where the pending applications were located. Perhaps it is an ID 10T error but not sure. If anyone could shed some light on what is a good distribution list solution from an administration and accessibility  perspective I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Joe

Office 2019

Edward Green

Hi all,

Does anyone know if either JAWS 2018 or JAWS 2019 Beta 2 work with Office 2019?

I realise that Office 2019 is really an incremental update if you are an Office 365 subscriber and have applied the updates to 2016 as I am and have, but wanted to double check before I go ahead and install as I only have one Windows PC.

It’s not clear to me from the Beta 2 features page whether it does or not.

Many thanks,

Ed

You can do this  with the Microsoft Windows Media Creation tool.

What is the best tool for creating a bootable memory stick?

Thank you very much.

Re: How to get the old Alt Tab dialog in Windows 10 Back

My understanding is that Windows+Tab gets you into the task view, you can also get to this by tabbing from the desktop or going to the taskbar with Windows Key+T and then doing a Shift+Tab.

If you have open applications then Windows+Tab will bring up a list of these applications, you can arrow left and right in that list and press enter to go to any of them which are listed.

Just now that I have Outlook open and I am composing this message if I press Windows+Tab I have two items in that list, one is the Inbox and one is this email which I am composing.

I would like an explanation of this.  How, for a screen reader user who doesn’t notice how the windows are represented, is the new alt+tab different from the old one?  They seem the same to me, and Windows+tab is entirely different.

I didn’t know how to get the site to show me the options, so I called Customer Service. They told me that it is a link which requires hovering over the item with the mouse. I tried using the Left Mouse button on the NumPad, and it opened up the items under “My Account”. Just clicking on the link itself didn’t open the options. So I think that “Has a popup” means that it is a hover link.

Re: keystrokes for pop-ups

Hi Bill,

I just tried this in FireFox > Options and if I type for, example, “privacy” and press enter it seems to put me in application mode, if you get out of it by pressing the PC cursor a couple of times and then simply down arrow you should find the options/search results. Yes, it says “privacy, has popup”, but I don’t think this really means much.

What version of Firefox?   I'm on 62.0.3.

When I open Options, and I'm using NVDA right now, it just announces "Unknown" when I'm in the search box, which is where you land by default, and I can tab out of it to items on the page.  If I return to that edit box it announces it has auto complete.  When I try to look for a frame I get that there are none.

I really can't explain why JAWS would be reporting a "Pop up" and I'm imagining that this might be how "has auto complete" is being reported for some odd reason.  There is definitely no pop up.  As you type characters into that search box what is displayed keeps getting more and more limited based on what you've entered (provided there's a match).  For example, as I type the first five letters of "language" the display keeps changing until the only thing I have is language options.  I can tab out of the search box to the Choose Language button and the checkbox related to spell checking.

alt+f, then m to save all attachments.

To insert an attachment, copy the file name and paste it into the body of

i don't know what is going on for me. i don't get any option to save my passwords to the lastpass vault.
i have to enter them in manually. and i have to log last pass in every time i load firefox.
it does not remember my last pass user name or password even when i check both options to remember them.
i did try the option to keep lastpass logged in, say for 6 hours. but i will still have to log in again when i close firefox.

Hi,

I use last pass personal and it works fine for me. I’m using chrome, I haven’t
tried it with firefox, but in chrome if you ask it to remember your last pass
log in it will so you don’t need to keep logging in all the time. Also whenever
I go to a site which isn’t already saved in last pass it will always ask me
automatically if I want last pass to remember the details for next time, then
stores them in my last pass vault. I think every so often (maybe once a week)
I might be asked to enter my last pass password, but I guess that’s just a
security feature to check its still you using the computer. Also in chrome you
can just right click and last pass appears in that menu with various last pass
options.

Good Morning Folks,

Happy Friday!!! Does anyone use Last Pass and if so how accessible is it with
JAWS. My company uses it to send credentials for testing purposes on various
websites.

Thanks

Joe

I would try the spacebar. Sometimes that will open what appears as a list box, or a list of links.
