hmmm, not quite as early as you, but my original
serial number was 2064 if I remember correctly,
lol! 2.0 and I made a mistake on the windows
version in my last message, it was windows 3.11
for workgroups not 3.1. I didn't get the
opertunity of using jaws for dos till later
because I had been using ASAP written by Larry
Skuchan back in those days, lol! tried ASAW but that version didn't take off.

Hey Ward,

For me it was also Jaws for DOS back in September or October of 1989.
I then had Jaws for Windows from the first
release in the early 90's with Windows 3.1, then
3.11 and of course with Windows 95, 98 and 98SE
things really started getting more serious.
Sounds like we have most of these young guys on
the list beat, but let's see, what is your Jaws
serial number? I have serial number 1056 and
that has been my serial number for the last almost 30 years.

Al,

I don’t’ recall how calendar searches worked in past versions, but here is what I do in Outlook 2016.  Go into the Calendar. Hit Control E to the Search edit box.  Type your search term.  If you have office sounds turned on, you’ll heard a little run of ascending tones as the search completes.  Now, hit F6 until you hear JAWS say list view then arrow down through the options.  I noticed in my text just now that it pulls in calendar related items, such as meeting invitation notices.  In a home calendar this is likely fine, but certainly adds clutter to search results in a setting where you send meeting invitations to people.

Using latest 1803 version, Jaws 2019 and MS office 2016, what is the most efficient and Jaws friendly way to search the calendar for a past appointment? Used to do this on Office 2010 and have not since updating to Office 2016 but old way does not produce the same results. Googled this but did not find any good answered so before doing more advanced searches figured I’d check with the list.

Re: Which version of Firefox Quantum works best with JAWS 2019?

Chris Hill

Not necessarily.  Unfortunately the latest version has broken some controls, I think the thing I need to use that is now broken is a combo box.  It doesn't work with nvda or jaws either one.

Personally, as much as I like Firefox, I believe I'll be forced into Chrome before all this is over.

Hi!
I am upgrading to JAWS 2019 Home Edition. My PC runs Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I want to install Firefox Quantum, but *which version* of it is best? I believe I should install the Windows 64 bit version, but is there anything more to this than that? Seemingly, version 63 is the latest Firefox Quantum for Windows 64 bit, but I think there are other versions, like an “Extended Support Release” or something like that. Previously, I heard that earlier versions of JAWS did not work well with Firefox Quantum but that these problems have been solved. Is that right?
Thanks,
Richard

Hey Ward,

For me it was also Jaws for DOS back in September or October of 1989.
I then had Jaws for Windows from the first release in the early 90's with Windows 3.1, then 3.11 and of course with Windows 95, 98 and 98SE things really started getting more serious.
Sounds like we have most of these young guys on the list beat, but let's see, what is your Jaws serial number? I have serial number 1056 and that has been my serial number for the last almost 30 years.

Regards,
Sieghard

Concerning old buzzards, I started with speech emulation on a TI 99/4A, then Screentalk from Malcom Holzer, then WE Fergusin enterprizes in South Dakota and then UI came to work here where they had JFW 3.1, so I maintained both screen readers for a while, but ....

My first version of JAWS was JFW v1.05. It came on a single 3.5-inch diskette.

Mine was version 9.  Up until that point I never thought I'd ever be able to use my computer again.  What a blessing Jaws has been and will continue to be to me.

Re: Which version of Firefox Quantum works best with JAWS 2019?

Milton Ota <mota1252@...>

You will want the latest version of the Mozilla Firefox which is 63. If you are running the 64 bit version, you want the 64 bit of firefox.

Original message:

Thanks,
Richard

If you have beta 2 there was a beta 3 that notified you that the final release was available for download and installation.

You will now have to go to www.freedomscientific.com and find the download link to get the final release or wait until the DVD arrives in your mailbox. DVD will be shipping shortly.
