Re: Unable to quit JAWS using Insert+F4
If this is the case I wonder why "Run from system tray" is not checked by default if you install Jaws on a new system.

It is always one of the first things I do either manually or in the setup wizard since I hate having Jaws in the taskbar.

Re: links not being read in chrome, but being read fine in IE
Kevin Meyers <kevinmeyers@...>
I finally took a look at the html on the site. One of the things a developer should do is test their web site on more than one browser. Plus they should have individuals with different disabilities test the site. They probably didn’t think of how a screen reader picks up on text or graphics. The site is using what I think is an attribute I never saw before. I think the internet explorer recognize it and the other browsers do not. I would suggest to them to use the alt attribute. The code uses the alt attribute in other locations. Yet it sets the alt attribute associated value to blank. A screen reader needs the alt attribute to have text.
For example:
Alt=”Facebook”
I hop;e this helps.

Re: zipping files
JM Casey
There can be some advantages to using a third-party programme, even though Windows now natively supports compressed archives in the zip format at least.
Some of the third party programmes provide more context menu/shell options. These can tell the programme how to extract the files and where to place them, etc, without having to actually use that programme’s interface. Winrar, and, I guess, 7zip too, offers a lot of flexibility when it comes to archiving. You can compress as much or as little as you want (or at least as much as the compression algorithms allows). I don’t know what Windows uses by default, but just for Zip archives, I am offered four different levels, from greatest to least compression. You can also set passwords for the archive, which is not something that Windows allows, or if it does, it’s not immediately apparent.

When you arrive within the edit box here you can type in your signature, then tab and press the okay button. 14. You're now given a screen of various choices. Tab through to decide whether you wish to check or uncheck any of these boxes. Once you tab to the okay button and press enter, you are placed back into the inbox and have created you're signature. Re: Unable to quit JAWS using Insert+F4
James Bentley
Are you not running Jaws from the system tray? If doing an insert/jaws key plus J doesn't put you in to the Jaws options, that is telling you that all you need to do is put Jaws in to the system tray. Then, insert/Jaws F4 will work the way you want it to.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
If you can alt tab to the Jaws options menu, then go in to basics and tab to run Jaws in the system tray and check that check box. Good luck, James B

hello;

if your friend has a HP computer, I believe you'll need to have sighted help to turn off the Funtion keys. you do this in the BIOS Setup Utility to find out whether this is the actual reason why you can't perform the jaws keystroke, try pressing the FNKey with the insert&f4 keys. note you will need to do this with any jaws keystroke, example, getting the time, system tray, etc. The impossible is the untried, Never under estimate the power of a dream.

there is a function key keystroke to turn on and off certain behaviors. example, mousepad, volume up and down, etc. The impossible is the untried, Never under estimate the power of a dream.

it sounds like you need to change the behavior of the function keys. using a dell computer, you can, 1, go to desktop, 2, hold down the FNKey, now press the escape key. now try the keystroke insert+f4. you can also do, FNKey+insert+f4. The impossible is the untried, Never under estimate the power of a dream.
