Problem is Shai wants to share audio and not just video. That means JAWS can't be on the same output as allt he other audio, and Zoom has to know the difference.

Shai:

I use a USB headset when doing Zoom meetings, so Jaws won't be heard by other meeting participants.

If you use the USB headset, and make the headset your default audio device when the headset is plugged in, Jaws should play through the headphones. This way, noone will hear Jaws, even if your mic is unmuted.

I would think this should be true even if you are sharing your screen with others, but I'm hoping someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm actually facing the same challenge with some teaching I'm going to be doing within the next month, so will be interested in other responses we get to this thread.

Hello,
I am a teacher of students with visual impairment. I would like to be able to share both the sound and video from my computer in Zoom so that my students can watch a movie I will be showing but I do not want the sound of my JAWS (JAWS 2020) to come through.
How can I still use speech but not have the sound coming through?
I do have both bluetooth headphones and a headset but I am thinking that anything shared on Zoom down the audio channel will pass unless there is some intervention taken on my part.
Thank you in advance for any responses.

Hi.
Not positive on this but, I think you would need to have JAWS running through a separate soundcard/interface. You can probably buy a cheap USB one for this purpose. Not quite sure if Zoom will recognise the different output, though...you'll have to do some experimenting.
Maybe you could mute JAWS for the duration of the video?

Hi. For those using Docusign with jaws, is a web page you're going to
or is there a chrome extention or sometthing to download/>? We'll be
signing a new lease later this year and this is encouraging that it
seems accessible. I'll grab it on the google play store on android in

Hi All,

Has anyone tried using Docusign recently with JAWS, or NVDA for that matter?
We had used it about 3 years ago when selling a house and found it quite
accessible. However, today when we tried to use it again, it was unuseable.
For example, if you hit the letter B to navigate to the next button to
sign, and then hit enter or spacebar, no signature was applied. Focus was
thrown either to somewhere else in the document or completely into a
different open window. We found similar results with NVDA.

Has anyone had success using Docusign lately, and if so, with which screen
reader and browser? We were using Chrome.

I finally ended up trying it on my iPhone, and did have better luck there.

Thanks,
Pam

I am learning the ins and outs of the Zoom meeting app, and have been doing
some test meetings just to familiarize myself with the various controls and
options.

I know you can start and stop meeting recordings with the Alt R key stroke,
but whenever I start a meeting, it seems that "record" is on by default.

I don't need any meeting recordings, but can't find where the recordings are
stored so I can delete them.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Hey folks. Yes, I know JAWS 2018 is behind the curve, now, and that an upgrade would be beneficial. However, I’m not in a position to upgrade at this time. At the risk of running a huge struggle to continue using outdated software, I would like to know if anybody has any ideas of configuration settings that might make Firefox less crashy using this screen-reader. I know its’ an issue between interaction with JAWS and firefox and, frankly, always has been since the advent of Quantum. I tested this with nVDA (2019.3 and 2020.1) and it’s a lot less crashy. In fact I have failed to make Firefox crash even once using this other screen-reader. I know some users of JAWS 2020 have reported crashes, too, but I’m unable to test that currently and at a guess, newer versions of JFW should probably work better as well as NVDA. Anyway, since I’m not looking to downgrade firefox and not quite ready to either upgrade or give up JFW for the web browsing experience, in part because it works so nicely with my Focus braille display, just wondering if there are any flags/options I can alter in about:preferences or about:config (firefox’s “hidden” advanced settings page containing literally thousands of configurable options) that might help me have a smoother experience. Right now, since FF updated to 78.0.1 a week or two ago, everything from wikipedia pages to my old wisp’s webmail is crashing tabs. This only happens when jFW is running.

NB: I’m aware of other browsers and use them, so no need to suggest just switching browsers. Thanks!!

Could you post your steps? I must be doing something wrong.
I did a playlist a couple years ago, but couldn't repeat whatever I did and since individual videos were not working, I have not even tried to figure out the playlist method.
Its a great program when it works.

It is true that there is a learning curve to using iTunes.

It  is impossible to  cover in one email all the multiple aspects  so I will assume you want in the first place just to see your music library and be able to navigate the various parts of iTunes.   I think  is that for a smooth screen reading experience you need to have column browser set as your view.

Unfortunately   Apple have in their wisdom made switching to column browser obscurely difficult.

Basically if you tab round i’tunes you will find a sidebar view table under which you can set the view for iTunes. I think the default is album, there will be another called artist, but the view setting you need is for songs.

Once you  have songs set as your  view  you will find that there  are extra options available in the view menu.

Now you can enable column browser and also specify which columns you want to show. Personally I do not bother with Genre.

Now your library will be arrange in easy columns of artist, albums and songs. As you cursor down artists the albums available  will be shown, and once an  album is highlighted  the songs available will be shown. You can tab and shift tab to each column providing actually a very good music playing experience.

In fact for iTunes you are probably better off with NVDA in the actual music library as NVDA supports fast forward and rewind whilst Jaws still, the last time I checked, still announces not in a table.

This might get you started. Once in column view you can press control F to bring up the Find menu. This is a convenient shortcut to navigate to the part of iTunes area  which allows  access as tabbing simply  from the search area  will allow you to open up for example the Apple Music Sore.

Remember that that if you do not want to use Apple Music you have also to disable Show Apple Music Features in preferences. You need to , the last time I checked, to do this to enable the buying of individual songs and albums.
