Ah, yes, I see the problem. From the Setting Center type "edit" and toggle the setting for enhanced edit mode. That should definitely fix the problem. David Goldfield, Blindness Assistive Technology Specialist JAWS Certified, 2019 WWW.DavidGoldfield.org On 11/27/2020 1:03 PM, David Griffith wrote:

Re: Setting for Jarte
David Griffith
Thanks for this but this was not the setting change I was looking for. Jaws 2021 will not interact with the text even with Jarte in screenreader mode. So I cannot for example navigate by word, though I can with Jaws 2020 and NVDA. From memory it might be something to do with turning advance edit mode off or something like that in the Jaws settings. I will go and have a look.

Hi. From this page: If Jarte does not recognize your screen reader program then you can force Jarte to switch to screen reader mode by copying the phrase "enable screen reader mode" to the Windows clipboard before starting Jarte. This only needs to be done one time. Note to JAWS users: Jarte is currently unable to recognize the presence of the JAWS screen reader. If you are using JAWS then you will need to use the method described in the preceeding paragraph to force Jarte into screen reader mode. Re: Openbook 9.0
David Diamond
How does OCR exactly work? I too have open book 9.0 and it always reverts back to the factory setting, slower then molasis in January. Yes, I did contact Vispero and he got it to work properly. Only problem was as soon as I turned off the computer then booted it up again, I had the same problem. Thus will the OCR be able to read scanned bills or letters the way open book is supposed too?

Volume level heard on Windows10 lock screen JAWS2021
Shai
Hello,
When I lift the lid of my computer, JAWS announces the volume level twice and then presents me with the lock screen to log in. Is there a means by which to disable this volume alert announcement? This is a new behavior for me as this had not been exhibited in JAWS2020 or previous versions of JAWS. Thank you in advance for any responses. -- Shai Wolman Wolman technologies (619)894-6587 Providing training to children and adults that empowers them to be productive and successful with their assistive technology/computing tasks. atvistech@gmail.com

Mario, I had no idea this had happened. While I'm thrilled that Jarte Plus is now free for everyone I am very sorry to hear that development of Jarte has stopped. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Hello,

Narrator is a pre-loaded screen reader. In my experience, all that is needed when turning on the device is to wait for a few seconds at least 2 or so and press control Windows enter or windows enter Narrator will come on and guide through the set up process.

scrolling a web page

So with NVDA you can turn off touch interaction and use one finger on the screen to scroll up and down on a web page.
How do you do this same thing with Jaws 2021? Thanks

Shortly after pressing the power button Cortana will greet you with an audio introduction. At that point in time Cortana will tell you how to enable Narrator (Control + Windows + Enter) and how to disable Cortana during setup. My Dell provides all of the audio through the internal speakers. Several years ago I had an Asus which required me to plug in headphones until the audio drivers were installed.
