El-braille and verizon wireless support
Jay <jcoffin@...>
Hi.
Does anyone know if the el-braille is compatable with verizon wireless? I'm trying to activate the device on their network, and for some reason it's not working the way it should. I installed the sim card drivers, and called verizon but they couldn't activate the device. Any help would be awesome.
Thanks.

Jaws 2019 Update
Dan Longmore
Hi, A wonderful, diligent, support rep at FS was able to fix the update problem by using the off line install. While they are receiving calls about the problem thankfully it did not take a total un install for repair. If you get issues with the update the offline version may be of help.

The problem is that not only didn't Dan mention if he uses Windows 7 or Windows 10, but also he did not say anything about the basic hardware specs of his machine or what in fact the actual problem seems to be.

Re: Jaws update
Hi Dan,
I think you would have to be a bit more specific as to what is happening on your PC and why you can’t do a repair etc. “They have major problems with the latest update” would definitely need to be defined more narrowly because as far as I am concerned (and I am on the Jaws beta list and have been using this update for the last 2 weeks) there are certainly no “major problems” which affect all users. I run Jaws 2019.1907.31 on my laptop at home and on 4 PC’s at work and I have no significant issues on any of them, there were never any installation issues or anything like that. Also, if there really is an issue with this update, why not simply go back to the Jaws 2019 June update, did you not have Jaws 2019 installed before at all? If you were using Jaws 2019 before this update and it worked there is no reason why you couldn’t go back to that version.

Re: RSS on Chrome
Cristóbal
I’m sure if you poked around long enough, you’d find any number of third party add-ons/plug-ins for Chrome and Firefox that can handle RSS. That’s more or less how those browsers work.

Re: RSS on Chrome

That's very interesting. I used to use the live bookmarks rss reading feature of firefox all the time, until they got rid of it a couple of years ago. It was great and much easier than internet explorer. The word built-in, in my opinion means you didn't have to install anything to use it, and that was how firefox used to be, unlike chrome.
The reason they took it out of firefox is they didn't want to spend the money or effort to upgrade and maintain it. As far as the rest of firefox goes, the bookmarks and menus are still easier to access than chrome and brafe, I still use it on a lot of websites with good success. Besides, I don't like all my data being siphoned off to google.
Now, for rss I just use the feed reader in thunderbird. A pain to set up, but it works well.

Chrome has not abandoned RSS.?? But unlike IE, Chrome does not
have the RSS feed reader built in.?? You have to install an
extension to read RSS feeds, and it may not be accessible.??
Firefox has never had an accessible RSS feed reader, and is such a
screwed up mess that it is best avoided unless you absolutely need
it to access a particular web site.??
