Re: how does one join the new JAWS list

I agree. As far as I know, JAWS discussion is the purpose of this list. How many lists are needed for the same subject?

I honestly cannot believe that this question is being asked here. You already know how to join a Groups.io group, send an e-mail message to their subscribe address.
The direct link to the new Jfw-Users group, jfw-users, has been posted, by me, already and also directions about how to search for any group you might want. That group's addresses, like those of any Groups.io group, can be found immediately after the phrase "Group Email Addresses" on the home page. If you are a member of any Groups.io group, you had ought to know how to do this already, but those are pretty much step-by-step instructions specific to that group above. Doing searches is not rocket science and should be a basic skill. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 Many of the insights of the saint stem from his experience as a sinner. ~ Eric Hoffer

I agree, the use of "the list" and "this list" being bandied about is confusing.
This group, as in The JAWS for Windows Support List, is owned by James Homuth and, to my knowledge, has been since its inception. The now defunct JAWS Users group, whose exact name I do not know and since it's been nuked cannot pull up, has never, to my knowledge, been owned or moderated by the owner of this very group that I'm about to post this message to (James Homuth). If I'm wrong I am certain that the Group Owner of this very group will correct me. The "pop-up replacement" for said nuked group is jfw-users@groups.io, home page here, https://groups.io/g/jfw-users, which includes its various addresses just like all Groups.io group home pages do, and which I mentioned how to search for last night. It came into existence yesterday. That covers all of the "this and that" groups that have been swirling around in various topics here. It is left as an exercise to the reader to figure out just which this or that was being alluded to in those other messages. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 Many of the insights of the saint stem from his experience as a sinner. ~ Eric Hoffer

I suspect Mike has been the owner of this list, but I'm not sure and also not interested enough to go find out.

David Kingsbury
Hello,
With the risk of sounding self-promoting, you could check out the book I wrote entitled “Format Your Word Documents with JAWS and NVDA: A Guide for Students and Professionals.” Depending on format chosen, you can purchase it for between 18 and 20 dollars at: http://www.nbp.org/ic/nbp/WORD-FORMAT.html

Re: A potential suggestion for the list:
Also, "what's accessible with JAWS" comes up as part of the natural flow of topics on this very group, and the material can be accessed easily by searching the group archive.
Not that I don't think having a centralized repository isn't a good thing, but it does already exist and will continue to exist. To Angel, if this is something you want it would be welcome here. But if someone else isn't doing it, think about becoming that someone who is. That's how this stuff generally gets started in the first place. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 Many of the insights of the saint stem from his experience as a sinner. ~ Eric Hoffer

Re: A potential suggestion for the list:
Gerald Levy
First of all, the list you are referring to was called JAWS Lite, not JFW Lite, an important distinction.?? This list is still in existence, but is mostly inactive and hence does not qualify as a bone fide list for the discussion of JAWS issues.?? There is already a resource that contains a comprehensive list of free, JAWS-accessible programs.?? It is the programs page of the JAWS-Users web site, which will continue to be accessible even though the JAWS-Users list has been shut down.
