Hi, it's Annabelle.
I recently discovered Tunefab Apple Music Converter (http://www.tunefab.com), and it seems I'm having issues with converting my favorite music from .m4p to other formats. I have at least 100 songs in .m4p format which I'm trying to convert to .m4a, more specifically ITunes + .m4a. This is music I purchased between June 30, 2008 and whenever in 2009 they converted everything to .m4a, though I'm sure there's still lots of .m4p music out there. Whenever I navigate a list of songs that I've made of .m4p music files, JAWS is supposed to tell me whether there's a checkbox that's checked or not checked, and it doesn't seem to say anything but the filename. When I press spacebar, it won't check the selection. When I press Enter, there's an error that says: "Warning: Please check the tracks to convert.". What do I do next?

I do not have a sheet with conditional formatting, but I did just fill a cell with red.  You are not the first person I’ve heard say there was an issue with JAWS reporting the background color in Excel.  I’m still on JAWS 2019 1810 here at work and it seems to be working correctly on this version.  Not sure which update broke this function.

Subject: Jaws 2019 not giving background color in Excel 2016 or 2019

Hi everyone,

I am trying to use Conditional formatting in both Excel 2016 and 2019. I choose to use a formula to decide which cells are formatted, choose cells in sheet 1 that do not equal cells in sheet 2, and choose to fill the cells matching the criteria with a red background fill. The conditional formatting is working, but using Jaws 2019, I have no way of knowing whether or not it is working, because Jaws reads “text color black, background color white” when I press Insert + F, and “Black on white” when I press Insert + 5 on cells that have different values. If I load NVDA and press Insert+ F on these cells, NVDA says “black on bright red background”.

Has anyone else noticed this? I am getting so frustrated with Jaws not being able to do basic things like this when a free screen reader like NVDA is able to do it with no problem!

Thanks for any feedback.

Russell

You may not be able to convert these because the “P” in M4P stand for “Purchased” or “Protected” which means these are songs you purchased from iTunes and they are protected by digital rights and therefore probably can’t be converted to MP3.

Hello Kevin
I don’t know about converting A PDF document. However, can you check for me and see if jaws says, “empty document. “ of course, this is when you either up or down arrow through the document. If jaws says, “empty document, “but A cited helper knows there is something on your screen come The document could  a scanned image. When pDFs are like this,  you can usually press this hotkey. The insert key on your number pad (if you have a regular desktop sized keyboard) and the Space bar is a layered command in jaws. Press these two keys followed by the letter O to get to OCR.You are still not done. Press the D for a document. The screen reader  will say, “OCR started. “It might take a while, but your document should come up, reading as if it were in word. Then, you can read through it, select it and pasted into another program such as words, of course after copying, or just hit the escape key.   after you are done reading your OCR results, press escape Key. I hope this helps, and sorry for any miss spellings. Other than my instructions, I do not know how to help. Sorry about that.
Thank you for your question, and I would be glad to help again if you need it,

If you are using Adobe Acrobat Reader do the following:

1. Go to Edit > Preferences, the keyboard shortcut is Control + K

2. In the categories list arrow down to Security (Enhanced) or you can also press “S” 3 times to get there

It sounds like it may be opening in Edge over Acrobat. If that’s the case, unfortunately JAWS 2018 won’t read it. You will need to download Acrobat from Adobe’s site.

When you get into quick settings there is a search box. I can never remember the exact wording, so I type "vis" into the search box, and the only result is cell text visibility.

Arrowing through the choices, it is under

Hi Everyone,

Is there a way to have Jaws 2019 announce when text in a cell in Excel
2016 overflows the cell, or is "cropped"? I know that NVDA can do this,
and someone told me that Jaws has a setting to enable this feature, but
I can't find the setting, if it exists.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Russell

 Hi Ann,

This is perfect!

I never would have searched for that text!

Thanks so much,

Russell
