That sounds logical.

I wonder why Eloquence isn’t affected though?

My opinion is that this occurs when, for some reason, the computer sends all of its buffered voice output to the synthesizer at once, thus overwhelming the synthesizer so that an interrupt character cannot be sent to it.

I used to notice something like this happening with Vocalizer synth and certain websites, like the main intranet portal of my old work.

Since I switched back to Eloquence for most purposes I haven’t had this happen.

But since you use a Triple Talk and are still getting this (or something like this) issue, it must not be synth-dependent after all.

Hi all,

Sorry about the subject line, I got a little carried away…

When on certain websites, there are times too regular to be easily over-looked. There is some sort of script, perhaps java, that causes jaws to go into a mode of fast paced character to character read of the said script. I cannot stop it, I cannot move to another open item on my task bar and jaws is simply locked as with the entire computer until this script is finished. Sometimes a hard shutdown of the computer is what is necessary for this to stop.

My computer is windows 10 64 bit

Jaws is 2019 latest update

I was using FireFox, this time not an IE issue but this also happens on IE, as well. Firefox is the latest version, as well.

I use a triple-talk synthesizer

The website given the latest problem was:

Info.com

I searched for global diabetes statistics and when the results came up, I started at the top and arrowing down a line at a time, I passed over the search button and the script began. I did this a second time to confirm and it happened the same.

Is there a setting to stop this? I’ve had this problem since 2015 or possibly earlier but I’ve called the JAWS geniuses and they told me they were aware of the problem and the next version put out would stop it. It has not.

So, I look forward to your help…

Hello, everyone.

I am not sure if this a Jaws or an Outlook problem, but I am experienceing strange and inconsistent behavior in Outlook with regard to  noting e-mails that I have replied to.

Up until recently, if I replied to an e-mail, and decided to keep the original e-mail in my inbox, that e-mail would have a “replied” designation associated with it.  I find this to be quite handy, especially when I have e-mails that require multiple responses or action steps.

However, within  the past week or so, I no longer consistently receive these “replied” designations.  In other words, sometimes I receive the designations, while other times, I do not.

This is a problem, since I sometimes can’t recall whether I’ve initially replied to a message, and have to go back into my sent file to find out for sure.

Does anyone know how to consistently restore the “replied” designation on e-mails to which I’ve already responded?

I’m currently using the latest build of Jaws 2019 with the Office 365 version of Outlook 2016, and Windows 10.

Thank you!

Hi Kevin,

Go into Acrobat Reader DC, then Preferences, then arrow down to Security Enhanced, and uncheck the two checkboxes, Protection Mode at start up and Enhanced security.

These were turned on with a recent update, but stop JAWS from reading PDF files.

All the best

Re: Hello All I need help on m.facebook.com jaws 2018

JM Casey

Hello.

In m.facebook.com, you will want to activate the link for the photo, and then, “view full size”. This will open a tab displaying the full image, which you can then save to your machine. So, once the tab is open (you’ll know this because your screen-reader will just say “graphic” and probably a bunch of numbers), then you can press the applications key and select “save image”.

Hi, try this.
1. open the outlook.
2. press windows b to go to the notification tray.
3. press space on Notification Chevron Button.
4. find the outlook by using left and right arrow keys.
5. once the focus is on outlook, press application key or, shift f 10 key.
6. use the down arro key, till the jaws says, click on Show New Mail
Desktop Alert.
7. if its unchecked, just check the desktop alerts and see if it works.

Hi all.

This doesn't affect JAWS directly, but I was hoping some of you may have
had
the same issue and have worked around it.

I had to reinstall Windows 10 on Sunday because it decided it would crash
my
laptop.

Outlook 2016 is no longer playing a sound when I receive mail. I have
checked Outlook sound options, Windows sound options, and I even made sure
Outlook was the default program for mail in case that was an issue. I've
even Googled to an extent, but nothing I've done has fixed this problem.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Hi, it's Annabelle.
I recently discovered Tunefab Apple Music Converter (http://www.tunefab.com), and it seems I'm having issues with converting my favorite music from .m4p to other formats. I have at least 100 songs in .m4p format which I'm trying to convert to .m4a, more specifically ITunes + .m4a. This is music I purchased between June 30, 2008 and whenever in 2009 they converted everything to .m4a, though I'm sure there's still lots of .m4p music out there. Whenever I navigate a list of songs that I've made of .m4p music files, JAWS is supposed to tell me whether there's a checkbox that's checked or not checked, and it doesn't seem to say anything but the filename. When I press spacebar, it won't check the selection. When I press Enter, there's an error that says: "Warning: Please check the tracks to convert.". What do I do next?

Subject: Tunefab Apple Music Converter: Trouble with Conversions

Thanks for these instructions. I've been plagued by this problem for
quite a while now.

If you are using Adobe Acrobat Reader do the following:

1. Go to Edit > Preferences, the keyboard shortcut is Control + K
2. In the categories list arrow down to Security (Enhanced) or you can also
press "S" 3 times to get there
3. Tab once and you hear "Enable Protected Mode at startup", if it says this
is checked press the spacebar to uncheck it. You will get the following
message/prompt:
Adobe Acrobat Reader dialog
Disabling Protected Mode also disables Protected View and AppContainer.
For changes to take effect, you need to manually restart the application.
Are you sure you want to continue?
4. Tab to Yes and activate it, then press Shift + Tab 3 times to get to the
OK button and activate it.
5. Now close Acrobat Reader and reopen your document.

Subject: unable to read PDF

Hello, I'm using Jaws2018 and Windoes10. I opened a PDF file and Jaws
doesn't read anything. I didn't even get the message where Jaws recognizes
the PDF and gives option to scan it. I tried to save it as as a MS word file
and I get the message I can download the Adobe version that allows me to
convert. I use to be able to convert and something happened that no longer
allows me to do so. Any thoughts of what I can do? Thanks, Kevin
