I'd actually written this up before.  If anyone wants in in downloadable form as an MS-Word docx file:

Re: how do you get screen shot of a web page?

I need to save this after I put it out here today:

For Any version of Windows:

  1. PrtSc (Print Screen) key captures a full-screen screenshot to the clipboard.
  2. ALT+PrtSc captures a windowed screenshot (e.g, only your non-maximized File Explorer, or web browser, or dialog box with focus) to the clipboard.
You can then open any program of your choosing where an image is paste-able and paste away.  Save if necessary, and it probably will be.

For Windows 10:
  1. WinKey+PrtSc will take a full screen screenshot.  This will be placed in the Pictures library, Screenshots folder, in PNG file format.  Files will be named Screenshot(N), where N will be populated with integer numbers starting with 1.
  2. WinKey+ALT+PrtSc will take a windowed screenshot.  This will be placed in the Videos library, Captures folder, in PNG file format.  Files will be named based upon the window title or dialog title coupled with a date-time stamp after that.  [On every machine I've dealt with so far, these screenshots involve the use of Xbox, indirectly, and they've always ended up in Videos\Captures.]

If you really want to convert the video, try a program called Magic DVD Ripper from wondershare.net. Accessible with a couple workarounds.

Thanks for this nice idea. I effectively thought about it in order to archive the physical media. In addition, by having these .iso at hand, I could easily test different video rippers without the risk for damaging my physical discs.

However, I’d really appreciate to put them in a nicer format than .vob, .ifo and .bup files enclosed inside an ISO image, in order to play them on devices which are neither my computer, nor my TV-set. This is why I was looking further to convert the video, either on the physical discs, or in .iso files, into .mp4, .mkv, .avi or any other more portable formats like this.

Do you use Windows 7 or Windows 10? If it is Windows 10 then just press Windows Key + Printscreen and a screenshot will be saved to a subfolder called "Screenshots" in your Pictures folder.

I have a better idea. Make an ISO out of your DVD with a program like IMGBurn, then get a program like Virtual Clone Drive that lets you mountaan ISO as if it were a disk. Then you could use any player you like to play the content. This would also satisfy your need to archive your physical media.

The reason I know that the discs I want to rip are unprotected is that when I put a protected disc, (one I bought in a store) in the reader, VLC cannot play it although it nicelay plays the discs I need to rip.

It is the reason why the ripper I am looking for need not deal with any protection removal of any kind. And of course, if it works nice with jaws and is more recent than this plain old FairUse Wizard which was nice at the time it was released, I’m prepared to pay for this new ripper eventually.

Hi all,

The DVDs or higher capacity discs I need to rip are not supposed to be encrypted in any way. When I put such a disc in the USB Blu-Ray reader connected to my PC, I can nicely play it with VLC.

Now, I would like to “archive” those discs, i.e. to convert them in a format which could be played anywhere, without need for dedicated hardware to read the discs, (.avi or .mkv movies for instance).

Of course, FairUse Wizard does the job. However, I wonder if there exists a newer app which could handle more contemporary video formats like 4k, and new encoding formats like H.265?

I just had a chance to try Leawo DVD Ripper but this app does not seem jaws-friendly since it has many unlabeled buttons.

I’m using Jaws 2019 on a windows 7 64-bit computer.

Many thanks in advance for any advice on a good accessible DVD ripping app. Have a nice day. Chris D

I don’t know what OS you are using, but in Windows 7, you would go to the task bar and press Space on the Speakers button and Tab until you hear “Mixer Button” and press Space again.  Then Tab until you hear “JAWS Volume Up Down Slider”.  Use the up and down arrows to change this setting and Alt+F4 to exit the mixer.

Using JAWS with MS Access

Brooks Rimes

Looks like the last post on this topic was years ago.  I'm an experienced Access developer doing pro bono for an organization with visually impaired employees.  I've overcome a very problems I can share here.  This is a VBA code snippet that works.  You'll need to set a reference to the FS library.

    Dim myobject As JawsApi

   Set myobject = New JawsApi

   myobject.SayString "hello"

Also, Access forms have 2 modes: Edit and Navigation.  Edit mode is the default and JAWS will not say the data values in textboxes in this mode.  You can switch to Navigation mode by placing this code in the Open event of a form: Application.SetOption "Behavior entering field", 0 ' Select entire field

Now, some of the things driving me crazy:

  1. 1.       When using the Left or Right Arrow keys, JAWS says what sounds like “wrench”.  It’s probably not wrench.  Maybe something similar.  I need to suppress this.

    2.       After JAWS says the data in a field, it then says “hypertext”.  I have no idea why.  Access does have a hypertext property for textboxes but it is set to “no”.  Example: after saying “Radiologist”, JAWS says “hypertext”.  I need to suppress this.

    Any thoughts or help appreciated.

    Brooks

It seems to be impossible to enter a password there so I have to use NVDA or Narrator to do this right now.
