I’m actually talking about using the program on my laptop.

Opening a file, or typing into a blank file, Jaws reads nothing.

There is a trial version that can be downloaded if anyone wants to check it out and see what happens, but my guess is, there is something unique to my system since the program works on my work laptop and on that of a Microsoft employee who tried to duplicate my issue.

So, I’m really asking a more generic question if anyone knows what would cause Jaws to report “no font” in a text editor?

I have relied on this program for years for validating my html code and truly hate to lose it.  It has to be some crazy thing about my system, but I am clueless as to where to even look.

I hit a brick wall with FS.

Anyone out there have a clue why in a program Jaws would report No Font when pressing insert+f?

That works in all other applications.

This is about CSS HTML Validator from www.htmlvalidator.com

The very strangest thing is that this same program works on my computer at work just fine.

I don't know the laptop keystroke but, the desktop keystroke is a toggle, Insert, Control + Numpad minus / Jaws cursor key.  In my brief test if I invoke this keystroke it's system wide.

Hi!

What is the JAWS command (laptop keyboard layout, if available) to tether the JAWS cursor (i.e., the mouse) to the PC cursor?  Also, when this is done, is it specific only to the particular application for which it is done, or is it system wide?  Is there a way to make it specific to a particular application; for example by way of a JAWS setting?  Is the action permanent; meaning it will be active if the computer and the particular application is started subsequently?  Or, must it be done every time the computer is restarted?

Thanks,

Richard

It is also possible to change the period of time that popup notifications remain on the screen. They may only stick around for five seconds, which I believe is the default, but this period of time can be lengthened to as much as five minutes before the notification is sent off to the action center.

This adjustment can be found under Settings, Ease of Access, then go to Display. Tab through this dialog and you will find a combo box with the title "show notifications for" and you can then adjust the period of time that they'll stay around.

Hi all,
in several apps like Chrome and Outlook there is a sound played as soon
as I type a word that contains a spelling mistake and press space. I
like that but I'd like to adjust it a bit.
I thought I could set it up in the Speech and Sound Schemes but there
are no sounds configured and the learning mode does not give any
information when typing a word containing an error.
So I guess it's not the Speech and Sound Scheme that is responsible for
this functionality.
Do you have any idea where this behavior comes from and if it is
adjustable?

Thanks and best regards
Denis

If you want your sighted assistant to be able to either just see what's going on, or to have full control over your machine while working together, Jonas has given you excellent advice:  Quick Assist, which is built-in to Windows 10.    If you hit the Windows Key and start typing just the word Quick then Quick Assist is almost certain to be the first item returned in the search.

I have used this a number of times when providing remote support.  What's interesting is that sometimes I would get the screen reader voice output through my own speakers and other times I wouldn't, not that I needed it.  There is not a voice component to Quick Assist (or if there is I didn't use it), so I always have a simultaneous phone call going on over speakerphone so that both sides of the session can talk to one another as needed.

If both sides needed JAWS, then JAWS Tandem is the way to go.

You can download a zip file of any size for free. It’ll just take longer if it’s a large one, which is why they recommend the hard drive. It’ll let you download a 4 TB zip file, but I wouldn’t want to be the one downloading it.
