Re: Re arranging columns in Excel
And for complete clarity, when I said "select it" above for the column where you want the cut column to its left, I mean select the entire column using CTRL+Spacebar once you're in any cell in that column.

Select an entire column in a worksheet CTRL+Spacebar Select an entire row in a worksheet SHIFT+Spacebar Once you have the column selected you want to move, hit CTRL+X to cut it. Move to the column where you wish to have the cut column inserted to its left, and select it. Bring up the context menu and then either arrow down to the Insert Cut Cells item and hit enter, or just hit E, which activates that choice directly. The column you selected first will now be to the immediate left of the column you had selected when performing the insert. ------------------------------------------------------------------ The same basic principle applies to rows, and I believe the insertion point is above the row selected when the insert is done. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 Many of the insights of the saint stem from his experience as a sinner. ~ Eric Hoffer

Hi,
If the data is too much different between the
columns, this might not work, but I insert a blank column in front of the column
that I want to move to the right, and select the column that I want to move and
paste it in the blank column.
Control + space bar selects an entire
column.
HTH.
Maybe there is an easier way, but in my older
version of Office, there is no move option after selecting a
column.

Re arranging columns in Excel
Nickus de Vos
Hi all My Excel skills is a bit rusty. I’m using Office 365 updated and Jaws 2019 also updated to the latest.
How can I re arrange columns on a excel spreadsheet using the keyboard?
For example, if A1 has contact number, A2 Email address and A3 Name, how can I move the name column over to A1 so that A1 is Name, A2 contact number and A3 email address.
Hope I explained this properly.

You're probably thinking either of the Sound on Click (last updated in 2014) or Chrome Sound Effects (last updated 2018) extension.

Re: Brave web browser and Flexible Web.
Brave has it's own built-in reader mode that's not called such. If you hit ALT, Down Arrow, then use down arrow to get to "Toggle distilled page contents" that's what switches you in to and out of reader mode for a given page. Unfortunately there's no keyboard shortcut and if you try ALT, Down Arrow, T you get a new tab.

Have you found news sites where Reader Mode in Chrome or Firefox or Mercury Reader or a similar extension didn’t work, but you could implement Flexible Web to get the job done? I’m really happy with Chrome’s Reader Mode for such sites.

Hey, folks.
Windows 7, JAWS 18 latest version. I installed the
latest Brave browser and, yes, it's snappy, as Richard has written. However,
flexible web doesn't seem to work, at least not with an older version of JAWS.
Jaws key plus space bar gives me the Flexible Web sound effect, but X, the
follow-up key, does nothing for me. No dialog, nothing.
can anyone else duplicate this?
Brave does a good job of holding back the onslaught of
ads, but losing Flexible Web is kind of like having a toe
amputated.

John,
this isn’t JAWS related, but here’s my bit for what it’s worth. When I was
a student at the Vancouver School of Theology, we had a crash
two-weeks-and-a-half course in introductory Hebrew, just so students could
recognize Hebrew to do word studies. I was able to obtain a braille Hebrew
primer and braille Hebrew scriptures free from the Jewish Braille Institute in
New York. You might check it out. As
I was reading Hebrew in braille, it was much easier than for my sighted
classmates, who had to learn the various squiggles and forms of Hebrew letters,
whereas braille Hebrew letters approximate the sounds of the Hebrew. Don

Re: JAWS 2020.1909.79 Beta 2 Download Link
JOHN RIEHL
Hi, folks. In reading the notes for the upcoming JAWS 2020 beta, I noticed that Hebrew will soon be supported for scanning. This is really good news, as I’m trying to figure out how to produce a usable copy, in Braille, of some Jewish prayerbooks and liturgical stuff. What I’m interested in doing is to be able to create documents containing Hebrew and English in Word (if possible), or at least in a form that can be edited, and then Braille them in Duxbury. Given that Hebrew will be available in the 2020 version, will I be able to do this using JaWS? A response off line is fine. Thanks.

Enhanced JAWS and Invisible Cursor Support for Windows 10 Universal Apps
For years, JAWS users have relied on the JAWS cursor (NUM PAD MINUS) and Invisible cursor (NUM PAD MINUS twice quickly) to review and interact with areas
JAWS 2020 now detects when focus is in an application where the OSM is not supported and will automatically use the new JAWS Scan cursor in these situations.
For example, if you open the Calculator or Windows Store in JAWS 2020 and press NUM PAD MINUS, you will now hear JAWS announce "JAWS Scan Cursor" as these

Convenient OCR Updated to Use the Latest OmniPage
The recognition engine used by the JAWS Convenient OCR feature has been updated to Kofax OmniPage 20, formerly owned by Nuance. This offers greater accuracy

Virtual Cursor Toggle Now Tab Specific in Google Chrome
Today, there are many web apps where using the Virtual Cursor is not the best approach. An example of this can be seen if you use Gmail in the Chrome Browser.
Beginning with version 2020, we are introducing an option to help JAWS automatically remember the state of the Virtual Cursor for each tab once you set

If by chance the integrity of the three documents must be kept, it would be easier to put them all into one folder and send the folder.I get exactly what you're saying, but I have never had any luck in trying to send a folder as an attachment to an e-mail message other than if it's a cloud-based folder. Maybe I gave up way, way, way too early in the game, but that's why I recommend using file ZIPping, as it reliably accomplishes that task. But in the case of three and only three documents, it makes little sense to do anything other than to attach all three to a single e-mail message and send them that way. The amount of work involved in creating a ZIP file for three items is more than doing three attach commands in an e-mail client, and you may not even need to do that if all the files are in a single folder, in which case you could multi-select all three in a single attach command. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 Many of the insights of the saint stem from his experience as a sinner. ~ Eric Hoffer
