I have had that happen. I unloaded Jaws and turned it back on again. That helped.
Hope that helps!

I still have not understood why sometimes when I do enter or up or down arrow when proofreading emails I am composing, it takes me out of the message text area. I can tab back in or whatever but then it will happen again after a few lines. It's frustrating. Also, it will occasionally just not read a line in the middle of my text, actually it reads the same line twice, even though visually it is clearly on a different line and says something different.
Please please help.
So much appreciated.

Hi, Anna. I almost never compose any email within the text field offered online. What I usually do is to compose the email offline (usually in Notepad), then paste that content into the text field online. This gives me the opportunity to carefully proofread before sending, because I can proofread it in Notepad before pasting it into the online text field.

Hi Tom and all,

Tom, I think the new feature in Jaws 2020 is to announce Groups as you arrow down. This information comes from the Help menu in Jaws under “What’s New in Jaws”. First of all as others have said the view to group messages by date must be enabled. Then press Insert + V to open quick settings. Type “announce” in the edit box. Arrow down to the Announce Group Change In Lists item. Press the spacebar to select the checkbox. Tab to OK and press enter. Now when you arrow down through the list when the group changes from Today to Yesterday, Last Week etc. you will hear the change.

You are correct in that alt v a b w is a toggle with checks and unchecks the groups option.

However, when I check the groups option, my messages are still not separated by date groupings. They are arranged chronologically by date, but date groupings still do not show. At the top of the list view is a message that says “group by expanded flag star date no date expanded. I’m not quite sure what this means.

Hello, everyone.

I just installed the latest Jaws 2020 update on this Windows 10 computer.

I’m using Outlook e-mail in Microsoft 365.

In the list of improvements with this update, I know Jaws will now group messages according to date, which could be quite convenient when sorting through a large folder list view.

Here’s what the update notes say:

“JAWS can now indicate group changes, such as dates or conversations, as you navigate through message lists. For example, if your Outlook view settings
are set to show messages by date and you are navigating a folder containing messages covering multiple days, when you move to the first message in the
new date group, you will hear announcements such as "today," "yesterday," "last week," or "two weeks ago." To turn on this feature, open Quick Settings
(INSERT+V) while in Outlook and select the Announce Group Change in Lists check box.”

I checked the “announce group change” option, but my messages still do not appear to be grouped by date.

Am I missing a step here?

Thanks!

I tried out several kinds of wireless head phones with Jaws working with Zoom, and found my corded over the ear just works great. It also has a round button where you can control your volume and whether it's muted or not. They don't make them anymore, otherwise I'd highly recommend them. My corded one works great

Hi,
I had the same problem you described. Tried changing the setting in Zoom without speech was not possible but I'll try it again later today and see if I can do it with Narrator to see if it fixes the problem.

I'm guessing that it must be a problem with the frequency/channel the blutooth and the computers blutooth card/adapter are not communicating with each other.

This may be also a message to Aftershokz to see what they say.

Thank you in advance for any responses.

Bill:

I just tried this, and now, the message at the top of my inbox list view says “group by expanded date none expanded.

Again, I’m not sure what this means, since my messages are arranged chronologically by date and the dates for each message are spoken. The messages are just not separated by date, which is supposed to be possible with the latest Jaws 2020 update which I just installed last night.

Hi, Alison,

try to check your sound settings in the Zoom app.
Most audio settings are set up in such a way that zoom has control over what device is chosen and it sets the volume automatically to avoid feedback from people's speakers.
I cannot tell you the exact wording since my Zoom is in German, but I'm sure others can chime in here.
Also, you may want to set up your speaer and microphone in such a way that the app will use the same devices as your Windows does per default. That can also be done in settings.
Finally, meeting hosts have the possibility of setting up "original sound" and "Stereo" so that anyone can change their audio and turn off all the aggressive sound pre-processing Zoom performs on incoming audio.
However, this has to be done online through the web interface.

Hope that helps,
Nermin

It is probably time for those of you experiencing this bluetooth audio issue to call Microsoft Accessibility to find out why the bluetooth channel in Windows cannot seem to handle this.

also uninstalling and reinstalling Zoom to no avail.
Thank you in advance for any responses.

I am using ordinary headphones with my pc when taking part in Zoom meetings, in fact they are the ones which came with my Iphone. My problem is that I don't seem to be able to adjust the volume - Jaws booms out and turning down the volume on my speaker makes no difference. Any suggestions?

Hi Tom/all,

A quick way of doing that, courtesy of one of our members, is: Within outlook and ribbons unchecked: alt-v, a, b, w. I wanted the reverse, i.e. abolish the grouping announcement, however the command is a toggle I think. So Tom, just give it a chance and I believe this is what you need.

Thanks!

Good afternoon, all:

Last night, all of a sudden, JAWS 2018 stopped talking when I have my headphones on; I switched out the headphones; however, that did not resolve the issue. It’s also worth nnoting that there’s still audio coming out of the headphones because, when I go to turn-up/down the volume, I can hear the “pingâ€ sound whenever I slide the volume up or down.

I hope this description of the issue makes sense, and I thank-you in advance for any assistance one can offer.

Sincerely,
