I have found that Chrome and Firefox don't work as well as Internet Explorer for most things on the Nebraska workforce site,, but Firefox works best once a week for me when I'm entering my job contacts for my unemployment payment. Trial and error is the only way to know which tool works best for each job, and unfortunately we all need to know at least the basics of web browsing to know how to use any one of the tools. That is like using quick navigation keys for example, and how to use a combo box and the like will help you to decide whether the tool is going to work as well as another. Glenn

Getting the Google Chrome browser will give you the latest version and it will work best with the latest version/build of JAWS 2019. You will find better results if you are just waiting for JAWS 2020's final release. JAWS 2020 is in phase 2 of Public Beta Testing by all JAWS users. The 2020 final will be available soon. You should also make sure you are update with all your Microsoft updates. Original message:

I have Omnipage V19.1, which I’m confident has been superseded. It works well enough with JAWS. I think photocopy would be dependent on your scanner and printer. HTH

Does anyone know if the current version of OmniPage Ultimateworks well with Jaws?
Also, does OmniPage have a photo copy utility builtin?
I have been informed that it is possible to purchase recycled licences, similar to that of Microsoft Office, on Ebay for just a few dollars but it seems there is no support from Nuance or any future updates.

Re: Stopping JAWS to say 'spelling error'
Steve Griffiths
Hi Gezim,
Yes, I think either will work. You can turn spell checking off in your Word document settings, in which case no errors will appear on screen for JAWS to report, or you can change JAWS settings so that it doesn't report the visible errors.
Whichever you choose, you might want to toggle the setting off while you have a document containing both Albanian and English, and then on again when you have just the English, in order to spell check your translation.
Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your prompt response.
I work with Word documents with text in Albanian language, which I translate into English. So, I hear ‘spelling error’ before every single word, and you can imagine how annoying and how time-consuming it is! After translating a phrase or sentence, I delete the original, so that only English text remains, and then it does not say ‘spelling error’ any more.
Do you think your suggestions will work for me?
Best regards, Gezim

Hi Gezim,
Two things I can suggest. First is to check that the language being checked is the language you're using. If you're using Word 2016 or above, press Alt + Q and type language. DownArrow once to Language, then RightArrow into a submenu. There are two options in it; the first is for the current document only and the second is the default language used to create documents. You will want to check them both.
If you're using an earlier version of Word, to get the default language you can do Alt, F, T. DownArrow to Language and then Tab to the options.
To get to the document settings with an earlier version of Word, press Alt, R, U, L.
The other thing to check is your spelling options. To do this, go into the Settings Center with JAWSKey + 6, then Tab once and DownArrow to text processing, RightArrow to open it and DownArrow to Proofing. RightArrow to open that and then DownArrow through the options, changing them to suit you.
Hope that helps, Steve

Hi all,
At my workplace, yesterday they installed JAWS 2019 for me, but instead of making me happy, it made my work far slower and it was nerve-breaking. That is because while navigating word documents, JAWS kept saying ‘spelling error’ all the time. Is there a way to stop that?
Looking forward to your instructions.

I have not noticed this at all using chrome. I do a search and after
a bunch of filters, I see the titles and if I click on one of them, I get a page, which among other things has the publishers summary. Audible And Chrome
clarence carter
I have noticed some canges in the way Chrome and Edge Beta read the Audible page. Instead of presenting the titles when you are on the page, there are graphis and symbolsbeside the title. I have tried changing the settings in the JAWS profile, but it mmakes no difference.
I have had to go to Firefox to get a clean Audible page. Are there any settings that I am missing? should I just go back to the default settings and start over. So Far, this is the only page where I have noticed this. Also, I have tried the Edge Beta, and I found the menues, if you can call them that, a little cutsy. Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: Re arranging columns in Excel
Robin,
Thanks for the clarification. When it comes to Excel spreadsheets, even though I'm sighted, if I can avoid having to "go to the top of a column" then focus on it I prefer to. Whether we're talking a row or column, moving up/down or left/right, respectively, and being able to select the whole thing is really convenient. I don't use Excel very often at all and a lot of what I've learned about it is "keyboard centric" because it's been for blind or visually impaired clients who are, or when questions come up here. By the way, the Microsoft document, in MS-Word format, Excel 2016 for Windows keyboard shortcuts, can come in very handy indeed when it comes to figuring out how to do something one seldom does or needs to do. I find the full set of keyboard shortcuts all in one document to be even more useful than the reference pages on the Microsoft site since they're easier to search. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 Many of the insights of the saint stem from his experience as a sinner. ~ Eric Hoffer

Re: Re arranging columns in Excel
Van Lant, Robin
Brian, we are both correct, I was just expanding on your comment. I’m simply saying that you don’t have to select the second column before doing the “paste cut cells”, as long as your cursor is at the top of that column. Your method of selecting the second column is a nice trick I didn’t know for being able to insert the cut column without moving to the top of the desired column first. I can see how that would be really valuable when I’m working in some of my massive spreadsheets and I look forward to using that.
And, indeed, our method of using insert cut cells is better because it doesn’t’ leave the empty column after pasting. I made that comment because someone else responded that they first insert a blank column then copy and paste the data they want to move, which you and I both know would leave an empty column.

I have discovered, when switching to the discovered sounds tab, for some strange reason, I am unable to switch to the general settings tab. usually the tabs remain on the page after select either so the user can switch back and forth. if anyone finds out or knows how if a user can use their sounds instead of the embedded sounds, please do tell. if anyone has additional tidbits about this extension, please do tell.

Re: Re arranging columns in Excel
But the instructions I gave do not leave the cut column in place (or a vacated column in the same place as the cut column), otherwise it wouldn't be doing what was asked for.
If you select a column in its entirety, cut it, select another column in its entirety, and then use Insert Cut Cells the column cut is moved wholesale and the letter designations for the columns are reset. The cut column will be moved immediately to the left of the column selected immediately prior to doing the insert. This is the only thing that can make sense, as if one wishes to put a column first (in the Column A position) instead of what's there you have to select column a in its entirety, then insert. Then the inserted column becomes Column A, the former Column A becomes B, etc., etc., etc. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 Many of the insights of the saint stem from his experience as a sinner. ~ Eric Hoffer
