Hi Listers

I am wondering if any of you have had successful experiences with blackboard and jaws? If so could you share details...version of blackboard, tasks performed with blackboard, student or teacher, version of jaws, version of Windows or version of OS if not Windows OS, browser used, and glitches and work-arounds discovered.

Thanks
Bill

Hello, I’m using windows10, Outlook2016 and Jaws2018/19. I accendently deleted an email from my inbox. Is it possible to bring back the email? It isn’t in my delete folder as I have it setup to  delete emails from the delete folder when I exit Outlook. I’m pretty sure I’m out of luck. It could be in the back up of the outlook files. Is there a way to get the email from the backup? Thanks, Kevin

List Rules

When:
Saturday, 1 June 2019
12:00am to 1:00am
(GMT-04:00) America/New York

Description:
The following is the current version of the JFW Mailing List policies. These are sent out monthly, and also available from:

http://groups.io/g/jfw/wiki/List-Policies

**List Policies**

1: Keep it clean. We're a family list, and there are people here who probably don't want to hear everything *exactly* that's running through your head. If you wouldn't see it on TV, it doesn't belong in a post to the list. If you're not sure, email the administration before you post it to the list. Otherwise, you stand to see your posts moderated.

2: Stay on topic. We're a JFW-oriented list. That said, anything related to JFW, its functionality with programs etc is acceptable. If it doesn't have to do with JFW, it doesn't belong on the list. This includes, but isn't limited to, talk of other screen readers such as Window Eyes.

3: Listen to, and respect, the wishes of the admins/moderators. If you're asked by an admin or moderator to drop a subject, or take something to private emails (in the instance of two people carrying on a thread list-wide), please do so. If the subject is changed on a thread by an admin or moderator, it will be explained why in the email sent out with it. Please don't continue replying to the old subject.

4: Don't ask over the list for a position on the list administration. If you'd like to help out, it's of course welcome, but address the request to do so to the admin team, otherwise it'll be ignored. Requests are always welcome, whether help is being looked for or not. When help is needed, a post will be made to the list. The requests already received will be kept in mind.

5: Keep flaming to a minimum. This is not limited to flaming of each other, but goes beyond that, to flaming of products, opinions, ideas, suggestions, etc. Constructive criticism never hurts. Flame wars, especially public ones, both drive people from this list and are unwelcome here. either take the problem to private emails, or report the problem to list administration.

6. Respect the opinions and views of others. This is *very* important in any environment, most especially an online environment where the only gage one has on a person is what that person puts to writing. If you come off as hostile in your posting, whether you intended to or not, people will take it as such. Online, "face value" means just that. People make mistakes, people don't always have access to the same information you do. For that matter, people don't always have the same experience you do. If you know how someone can solve their problem, great. Suggest it to them and/or the list. Do *not* proceed to tell someone, on or off list, that they have no business posting. Repeat offenders of this particular rule will be banned for a week to 30 days, depending on the severity. Serious problems will be banned permanently.

As always, if there are problems or questions with regards these policies, don't hesitate to send them off-list to jfw+owner@groups.io

James,
List Admin

This really requires more than can be given in an e-mail, but here are a few things.

Once you have Drive open:

Jaws key-z to turn off the virtual cursor. It will turn back on every time you go to a different window, so you always need to remember to keep turning it off.

Once it is off.

gn puts you in navigation mode, and then you can use the arrow keys to find files and folders.

Gl puts you in files mode, so you can arrow up and down through the files in the current folder.

Enter on a file to open it.

This barely scratches the surface.  I recommend you find one of the many tutorials available for JAWS users online to learn the Google products.

I would appreciate some direction in terms of keystroke commands and any additional information that would be helpful/valuable to know regarding navigation. .

My JAWS2019 is also having a similar problem and when it come back up
it says "Program Name Not Responding". I say Program Name because it
occurs in all programs; Windows Explorer, FireFox, WinAmp, etc.

Thanks.

moderated How to get Jaws 2019 to read table headers in Access 2016?

Russell Solowoniuk

Hi all,

I'm using Access 2016 as part of Office 365 at work with Jaws 2019 on a Windows 10 machine. I'm updating our inventory in an inventory database that I created. As I navigate through my inventory table, Jaws is not reading the column headers, so I am not certain I am in the correct field. I know that Jaws used to read the column headers, but can't seem to find a setting to turn this feature on. NVDA reads the column headers, but I'd prefer to use Jaws if possible.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Russell

moderated Re: Accessing files using Jaws and Googledrive

Quite a bit more information would be needed, as Google Drive files can be sent and accessed by a number of means.

Is the file being sent as an attachment on e-mail?   If so, the e-mail client should be able to download it.

Is it being sent to you via a link in an e-mail message?

Is someone sharing a folder and/or file on Google Drive with specific individuals?  If so, do you have Google Drive Sync installed on your computer which allows Google Drive content, including shared content, to be viewed within File Explorer just like your local files are.

Hi all - yep Sieghard, I obviously did miss this (along with a few others by the looks) so sorry about asking the question again - need to learn how to search the site better I think!!!!  The unticking the preference in AcrobatDC Security aDvanced Settings did the trick. Its a home computer so no problems with admin right etc.
Apologies for the long delay to say thanks to all - in Western Australia, I am in bed asleep when you are all getting up and answering questions in the US and Europe.

Thanks again

Hi Net bat,

Okay I think I got it figured out.  Press the, Control, Insert + Numpad minus key, so Jaws reports, the Jaws cursor will not follow the Pc cursor, now hold the, Control & Insert keys down together and tap the Numpad minus key twice quickly.  You should now hear the Jaws cursor will not follow the PC cursor.  JAWS will remember this setting until you decide to re save it
