I don’t know why they didn’t map Ctrl+F to JAWS Find as they have done with the browsers, but they have not done so. Hence, to do a very effective JAWS Find in a PDF document while running Acrobat Reader, use Insert+Ctrl+F, Insert+F3 to Find Next.

Hello, I’m using windows10 and Jaws2019 most recent version. I’m unable to perform a search in a PDF file. I press control f, type in some text and press enter. The only way I can get out of the search is press escape. Should I do this a different way? I tried to convert the PDF into a word doc and I couldn’t get it to work. I then highlighted the entire PDF, copied and then pasted it into a word doc. This messed it really bad. Any thoughts of what I can do

Re: Picture Smart

According to the help within Picture Smart, apparently not. For the command insert+spacebar, p, then b, it says: An image on the clipboard can be described using the letter B
So, You just have to initiate that command while the image is “on the clipboard”. If you use alt+printscreen, you can sve the image in your Pictures folder in a subfolder called Screen Shots. Then, navigate to that folder and focus on the image file, and use the insert+spacebar followed by p then f for file.

You can save it as TXT and do control + F in
notepad.
Also, did you try insert + control +
F?
That might work in a PDF.

Hi all,
I have been playing around with the print screen of which I have activated screen snipping when I do this.
When I go to my clipboard, the information is there for those who can see. However, is JAWS able to read this information captured? Picture Smart not able I believe, how would I read this information?
Thanks,
Rick

JAWS 2020 beta 3 and Twitter
Orlando Enrique Fiol
Hi all. I'm trying to use Twitter on my Windows 10 desktop running the JAWS 2020 beta. There is a long list of keyboard shortcuts, but invoking them does nothing. Not only that, the key presses are not even spoken, even though I have keyboard character reading turned on. These keyboard shortcuts are not very practical anyway; is there an alternate Twitter site that doesn't use these shortcuts, or can they be made to work better in JAWS?

Hi Mattias,
It's in the J2020 demo and it's explained
below.
Picture Smart for Describing Images with JAWS and
Fusion
Picture Smart allows you to choose a photo and submit it to be analyzed. A description of the image is then displayed in the JAWS Results Viewer window. Descriptions might include details such as the number of people in the photo, recognizable landmarks, landscape details such as "outdoors with a blue sky and green grass," if there are vehicles such as automobiles or trains, and more. If there is text in the picture, it will OCR the text and provide that as well. To use Picture Smart, press INSERT+SPACEBAR followed by P. Once the Picture Smart layer is active, the following keystrokes are available: list of 5 items • A - Open the Picture Smart dialog box where you can acquire an image from a flatbed scanner or the Freedom Scientific PEARL camera. • F - Describes the currently selected image in File Explorer. Supported images include BMP, JPEG, GIF, TIF, or PNG. • C - Describes an image associated with the current control. For instance, a graphic on a web page or in an email message. • B - Describes the contents of the Windows Clipboard if it contains an image. • QUESTION MARK - Displays help for the Picture Smart layer. list end JAWS now also creates a new PictureSmart folder which is located in your user documents folder under My Pictures. If a single image is saved to this folder, JAWS will automatically submit it for analyzing and display the resulting description. To use Picture Smart, the "submit annonymous usage data" option must be enabled in Settings Center. This sends encrypted information to Freedom Scientific. The images from Picture Smart are then submitted to the various services (such as Microsoft and Google) which analyze the images and returns the descriptions back to us. These descriptions are then displayed in the Results Viewer. If you attempt to use Picture Smart and this setting is off, a message displays prompting you to turn it on. Note: Picture Smart is currently only available while in the English Language UI of JAWS and Fusion as the services that perform the image analysis do not currently support international languages for descriptions of images. For users of localized versions of JAWS running in versions of Windows other than English, you must switch the JAWS UI language to English to try out this feature. We plan to make Picture Smart available in more languages in the future as these services continue to expand to include additional languages. Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. Go Rams! Re: how to delete" stubborn" e-mail

David, what works for me is to hit enter, then the space bar to clear the error message, and then the regular delete key should work. Once removed to your deleted folder, you can delete from there as per normal.
