Thanks for taking this initiative.
I have been quietly adding programs to the list based on people's suggestions and the list is now quite expanded, especially in the utilities category. I was going to post this expanded list to the list anyway in a few days but you have prompted me to post it earlier.

I will be reorganizing the list to have all apps "included with windows"

Hi George,

I need the row number to be spoken by Jaws when arrowing slowly up the table column. If arrowing up at a normal speed then Jaws skips the row announcement and just reads the cell contents which is the desired result.

Currently, using the Jaws 2020 version released in the past week, Jaws does not announce any row number regardless of the arrowing speed. The row announcement was  spoken under the final 2019 version as well as the 2020 version released in late October.  I made the settings in the just released version the same as the settings in the 2019 version but this had no effect. That is, after making sure the settings relating to “default application” and saved with shift control d.

After trying numerous settings, I have come to the conclusion that a bug has crept into the latest 2020 Jaws update.

I’ll contact F S and make a report early in the new year.

However, if I change to the final copy of Jaws 19 then the row number is spoken as normal.  It appears to me that something has been broken in the latest 2020 version.

Go to system settings with jaws key plus 6 on the number row

Tabe once and you hear users

Arrow once and you hear Web / HTML / PDFs

Arrow right once and you hear the same as above with open on the end

Arrow down to you hear tables and right arrow

Arrow down to you hear \\Tables\Web / HTML / PDFs \Table Presentation Information and then then press space bar and it changes to for all tables

Now quit the system settings and it will ask you if you wish to save the changes and choose yes and that should do it

Tables are mentioned under navigation but changing settings here does not seem to make any difference as far as I can tell.

Hi,

  I am not, at the moment, sure of where the setting is that can fix this.  It occurs because of One Drive and Office 365.  My workaround is I hit F12 and save as another document with a different file name.  Also, I do not use AutoSave function.

You might want to check the saving options you have by hitting alt+f, then t, and arrow down to saving and tab through there.

I’m not sure what would cause your issue, I always get prompted to save my changes.

I am using Jaws 18 with Windows 10 and Office 365.

Until relatively recently, when closing a document in MS Word with alt f4 or control f4, if I’d made changes, I would be asked if I wanted to save the changes before closing. But now it just closes and saves.

Today this was a real nuisance as I’d slightly customised my Christmas letter for an individual, but I hadn’t intended this to change the original letter which still needs to go out to some people. When I closed it though, it didn’t ask if I wanted to save the changes – it just did so!

How in future can I prevent this from happening?

Further to the below, also retain “user settings.”  Else, you will lose MS Office ribbon functionality; which I learned the hard way.

I would use the Windows control panel, programs and features, and uninstall from there, but you probably should leave shared components.

Well, here are the steps I use.

I open the settings menu, alt+g

I arrow down to workflow.

I set the acquire settings I want, in my case, acquire in background, etc.

Then, control+tab to the process tab.

Make sure Exact view is checked.

Hit OK.

Then alt+g and arrow to save settings.

Select default and say yes when it asked if you want to overwrite it.

Then, when I open Openbook again, that settings is saved.

I of course, skipped a whole lot of settings, but since the exact view is the main one you are focused on, I went with a shorter explanation.

Under the Settings menu, are you saving the settings with that dialog and saving it to your default settings, or giving it another name?

Also, did you adjust the Workflow, Process tab before saving the settings?

My settings always hold with exact view.

Using Openbook 9.0.

When I set the view to exact view, and save the setttings, when I exit Openbook, it defaults to text view again.

Is there any way to save the view settings?
