Well, have you ever been able to edit a spreadsheet?  Try opening a new blank workbook in excel and see if that works.  If it does, then something is either wrong with the spreadsheet you are trying to edit, or there is some setting or other that needs changed.

It all depends on why you can't edit it.  If it is protected, you have to turn that off.  Another thing I've found that made things get really weird is if you accidentally have scroll lock turned on, in which case it might seem like you can't edit because moving the cursor around doesn't seem to do anything.

Do you get any messages about protection when you open the spreadsheet, have you pressed f6 to see what might be going on in the other areas?  Btw, what version of office are we talking about here?

You watch Coronation Street? My life is a soap opera. I never needed to watch soap operas. Even watching the news you can see all the scandal's involving certain religious organization's. The parishioners say it is all propaganda. Thus, who needs Coronation Street when you've got these things going on. LOL.

Hi Don,

I must say I'm not much of a TV watcher, but here is what I found:

1. I open Google and put cbc.ca/coronation in the address bar and press enter 2. The website opens and pressing "1" for heading level 1 puts me on the
following:

CORONATION STREET > WEEKDAYS AT 7:30PM (8 NT) Join us on Facebook (Facebook is a link), Graphic Coronation Street on CBC Get a sneak peek of the new way to watch Coronation Street! (that is just
text)
watch.cbc.ca features enhanced quality, better sound, and greater accessibility. (that is a link) Try it today! (just text) Watch full episodes of Coronation Street (again this is a link)

It doesn't seem to matter whether I click on the link " watch.cbc.ca features enhanced quality, better sound, and greater accessibility" or on the link for " Watch full episodes of Coronation Street", both take me to the CBC Gems website, but it doesn't load Coronation Street.
So, here is what I tried next on the CBC Gems website:
1. I pressed enter on the "Search Shows toggle button", this opens an edit field and I typed in "Coronation" and pressed enter 2. If I now check the page I find this:
Edit Has Popup menu coronation
Then there is a blank line and then:
Showing 2 results
3. I press enter on the pop up menu it and when I arrow down I find two
links:
Coronation Street link
The Coronation link
4. I press enter on the "Coronation Street" link, then after a moment if I use "h" for heading or "1" for heading level 1 I find the following:

heading level 1 CORONATION STREET

Now streaming the uncut "full English" UK version! The world's longest-running primetime serial drama, Coronation Street is the story of everyday life in a small, tightly knit community, and all the love, passion, deception, greed, and intrigue that entails.

List box

The tricky part now is that this list box contains all the episodes, but pressing enter on it and then trying to arrow doesn't seem to work. But if you press enter on it and then tab you seem to be abel to get to the episodes, here some examples:

List box- I press enter and then tab:

Do you get any messages about protection when you open the spreadsheet, have you pressed f6 to see what might be going on in the other areas?  Btw, what version of office are we talking about here?

I have found that Jaws 2018 works better in my spread sheets than Jaws 2019 does.

I experience that same problem using 2019.

You can do this by making changes in the Navigation Quick Key Manager. Unfortunately, there is not as much flexibility there as I would like.  You can only use letters and numbers, and there isn’t a lot of wiggle room because most are already used.

I’ll explain my personal setup.  Obviously, this works for me, may not work for you.

I seldom use the P key to navigate by paragraphs.  I use even less the I key to navigate from list item to list item.

So I have assigned Place Marker to P, thereby freeing up the unassigned Any Link key to be assigned to K.  though I may not need it, I assigned Paragraph to I.

Once you assign Any Link to some letter or number, you can use it like any other quick key, and it is very nice to have.

Tab will go from link to link and of course Jaws Key + F7 pulls all links on a website into a list view which is sorted in alphabetical order.

Hi group,

Using Jaws 2019. I want to use a single key to go through web site links, whether visited or not. I faintly recall this mentioned on here at some point. If I could use the U and V plus another key to hit unvisited, visited and all links, respectively, I would love it. I’m sure there is a way to do this, I’m just not familiar with everything Jaws has under the hood. Thanks for your help!

Norma

Many thanks Sieghard for your explanation. I will keep JAWS 2019 for the moment and will uninstall it later following up your steps.

Hi Meesha,

As John said, you can certainly leave it and I agree that for a while you should. But if you find you always use Jaws 2020 and there are no issues which make it necessary to fall back to Jaws 2019 you can certainly uninstall it. Here is what you do (I assume you have Windows 10):

1. Press Windows Key + X and press enter on “Apps and Features”, it’s the first item in the menu which comes up

2. Tab I think about 6 times until  you get into the list of all the installed programs and apps on your computer

3. Arrow down to “Freedom Scientific Jaws 2019” and press enter to expand it, then tab once to “Uninstall” and press enter.

4. You may have to press Uninstall one more time, but eventually the Jaws 2019 installer starts and you can select to remove it, just make very sure you don’t and I mean “do not” check to remove shared components because if you do Jaws 2020 will also no longer work. You can, if you want, remove the user files by checking that option.

5. Let the uninstallation finish and reboot, there is a good chance Jaws 2020 won’t speak at the logon screen or even after you enter your password, if that is the case just load Jaws 2020 manually, then go into Jaws Options > Basics, tab twice to “Automatically Start Jaws” and make sure the option for Jaws to speak at the logon screen is checked and that it is set to “Always” for speaking after the desktop loads. That’s it.

Regards,

Sieghard

Just leave it there.

It will not cause you any problem and if something starts acting funny with 2020, you can see if it does the same with 2019 if needed.

Thanks Brian for the confirmation😊

So now I have downloaded the online version of JAWS 2020 and installed it on my system and I was expecting it to prompt for authorization however I think it automatically picked it up.

So far…. It seems to run smoothly. And I have two versions now –both 2019 and 2020. I am not sure if I should uninstall 2019 as for some reason I never had a smooth uninstallation of JAWS as whenever I try to uninstall it, it always leaves it’s components and then when I try to install the JAWS, it doesn’t get properly installed like doesn’t give the usual audio feedback etc.

So may be I leave both of these…I hope that wouldn’t be a problem??

Thanks

Meesha

Dear Meesha & List:

Any time I have updated my JAWS version previously, I have had to download the new JAWS
from the FS.com web site.

The check for updates function of JAWS only checks for updates to the version

you are running.

Hello,

I currently have JAWS 2019 running on my system and I am entitled to JAWS 2020 as a part of my SMA. I would like to confirm whether I need to download JAWS 2020 on my system separately or it will automatically be updated if I click “Check for updates” in JAWS 2019 help option?
