jaws and updates
Gery Gaubert <ggaubert@...>
I think fs just like Apple is focused on a release a year rather than content. Lately the updates offer little that the majority of users need. There isn’t that much money if they wait until they have something major to release.

Re: Question about OneNote 2016 on the job as areasonableaccommodation
That’s why I always said JAWS is useful but a joke. Freedomscientific needs
more competent leadership to address the Job Access part of the software. The
updates have been gimmicks. Recently and still up to now, we have been having
issues with track changes. This is a big joke in 2019.

David,
I get your frustration, but I also think
JAWS developers need to focus on the core products used by a majority of users.
I could argue that Microsoft Project and Visio are mainline products that JAWS
should support, but I also understand that it would take a lot of development
hours to serve a small group of potential users of such visually based software.
Far better that JAWS development focus on stability and features of mainline
software. Let those who have the know how and time develop scripts
for less commonly used software. You can’t get everything for free and
companies have to choses were to spend development hours to meet the most
needs. Now, maybe Microsoft Narrator development will serve One
Note.

As I understand it Jaws “out of the box” has never been able
to work properly with One Note. For this reason someone in employment needs to
buy 3rd party scripts to make them productive with One Note. This is
especially the case if they are using Jaws without sight.
I agree that it is not defensible for VFO to require their
Users to purchase third party scripts to make such a main stream Microsoft
product work effectively for employees. It is a bit like requiring people by
scripts to enable access to other parts of the same Office suite like Word
Excel or PowerPoint.
Scripts are a powerful extender to access with Jaws but
should not be required for widely used mainstream employment products like
Microsoft Office and the increasing used One Note. They should come with
Jaws. Scripts should be reserved / needed for vertical specialist employment
software.
Having said that if you are employment now then I think you
probably have little choice but to purchase scripts and the associated training
to boost your productivity and protect yourself.
One example of the scripts at least are on.

Hi, I am struggling to find
reputable information that suggests using OneNote 2016 effectively on the

security challenges in my company, because of how cloud centric that is.
The only alternative I have found is to export OneNote 2016 notebooks to

Here is the link to the webinar Microsoft Accessibility did in April on One Note. I haven’t listened to it, but hopefully there are some good nuggets of info in here.

Hi,
I found some scripts online, called OneNote blind, but I wasn’t able to install them on my machine, because a dialog told me I couldn’t.
What happened to cause this?
There were no details, just a close button.
Thanks,

But this is Microsoft Office we are talking about! An Office product which is widely used across employment. How much more core could this be?

David,
I get your frustration, but I also think JAWS developers need to focus on the core products used by a majority of users. I could argue that Microsoft Project and Visio are mainline products that JAWS should support, but I also understand
that it would take a lot of development hours to serve a small group of potential users of such visually based software. Far better that JAWS development focus on stability and features of mainline software. Let those who have the know how and time develop
scripts for less commonly used software. You can’t get everything for free and companies have to choses were to spend development hours to meet the most needs. Now, maybe Microsoft Narrator development will serve One Note.
As I understand it Jaws “out of the box” has never been able to work properly with One Note. For this reason someone in employment needs to buy 3rd party scripts to make them productive with One Note. This
is especially the case if they are using Jaws without sight.
I agree that it is not defensible for VFO to require their Users to purchase third party scripts to make such a main stream Microsoft product work effectively for employees. It is a bit like requiring people by scripts
to enable access to other parts of the same Office suite like Word Excel or PowerPoint.
Scripts are a powerful extender to access with Jaws but should not be required for widely used mainstream employment products like Microsoft Office and the increasing used One Note. They should come with Jaws. Scripts
should be reserved / needed for vertical specialist employment software.
Having said that if you are employment now then I think you probably have little choice but to purchase scripts and the associated training to boost your productivity and protect yourself.

Question about OneNote 2016 on the job as a reasonable accommodation
Hi, I am struggling to find reputable information that suggests using OneNote 2016 effectively on the job with jaws. What would you recommend? The Microsoft
Disability answer desk is telling me to use one note for windows 10. However, there are security challenges in my company, because of how cloud centric that is. The only alternative I have found is to export OneNote 2016 notebooks to word or PDF. What are
your thoughts? I am trying to work with my reasonable accommodation focal. Thank you.

Mario, with scripts abandoned, do you know of scripts that are still being actively maintained? I am trying to trace through this email chain, so apologies if someone else already answered. Please send the link.

*Subject:*Question about OneNote 2016 on the job as a reasonable accommodation
Hi, I am struggling to find reputable information that suggests using OneNote 2016 effectively on the job with jaws. What would you recommend? The Microsoft Disability answer desk is telling me to use one note for windows 10. However, there are security challenges in my company, because of how cloud centric that is. The only alternative I have found is to export OneNote 2016 notebooks to word or PDF. What are your thoughts? I am trying to work with my reasonable accommodation focal. Thank you.

Re: Question about OneNote 2016 on the job asareasonableaccommodation
It costs $15. If you install the scripts, restart JAWS, then launch One Note, there will be a series of prompts for payment. I am not sure if it is worthwhile scince I do not use One Note. I just wanted to help you out. Thom

David Griffith Sent from Mail for Windows 10 David, I get your frustration, but I also think JAWS developers need to focus on the core products used by a majority of users. I could argue that Microsoft Project and Visio are mainline products that JAWS should support, but I also understand that it would take a lot of development hours to serve a small group of potential users of such visually based software. Far better that JAWS development focus on stability and features of mainline software. Let those who have the know how and time develop scripts for less commonly used software. This is especially the case if they are using Jaws without sight. I agree that it is not defensible for VFO to require their Users to purchase third party scripts to make such a main stream Microsoft product work effectively for employees. It is a bit like requiring people by scripts to enable access to other parts of the same Office suite like Word Excel or PowerPoint. Scripts are a powerful extender to access with Jaws but should not be required for widely used mainstream employment products like Microsoft Office and the increasing used One Note. They should come with Jaws. Scripts should be reserved / needed for vertical specialist employment software. ooking for an accessible multi-platfrom podcast app?
Hi, I’m looking for an accessible app for podcasts that works on the following platforms: Windows, mac, Android, IOS, and Alexa. Does anyone know of any app that meets these criteria? Right now, I’m using pocket casts, but its not accessible with jaws. It doesn’t work very well on the mac either. Thanks, Jessica

Re: windows 10 1909?
I don't think Jaws is going to have anything to do with your
problem. If HP doesn't have an updated driver, you're probably
just out of luck.

Jaws does give you some things it needs to run like the

Re: Question about OneNote 2016 on the job as a reasonableaccommodation
David,
I get your frustration, but I also think JAWS developers need to focus on the core products used by a majority of users.

One example of the scripts at least are on.

Hi,
When using onenote, jaws won't read the sidebar.
I'm not even sure how to get to the sidebar.
Has Freedom scientific given a training on this topic?
If not, they definately should.

I think you would need to be a bit more specific. What exactly does not work with your Office 365 installation?
Hi,
No, I think its onenote in general.
Can anyone tell me how to get the office 365 version to work properly with jaws 2020?
What note taking alternatives would you use?
Onenote does not work reliably with JAWS – I reported this to the accessibility desk a while ago. It is very sluggish
and from my point of view unusable.

Thank you.

Re: How to navigate between two clocks with JAWS
Meesha,
This may be a question for Microsoft Accessibility. I found the area where you can set up another clock with a different time zone. The window says the user can view this secondary clock by hovering over the main clock. I’m not savvy
enough with JAWS to know if there is a way to maybe route your JAWS cursor to the clock and read the pop-up message.

Yes I did try to go to the clock after pressing Windows B and then navigating to the system clock however it only provides feedback for one clock and not the other one.

You probably cannot do it with the JAWS F12 keystroke to check time, but if both clocks appear on your System tray in the bottom right of your screen, then you can try using Windows key B to get to the system tray, then arrowing left or
right to hear the clocks. I usually find focus is at the far left of the icons in the system tray, so it is fastest to arrow left and focus will quickly circle around to the far right of the icons where the standard system clock is.
Hi members,
Can I check time for two time zones simultaneously using JAWS?
I have added two clocks however JAWS just provides feedback for one of it so not sure how to access time for the other one.
Thanks,
Meesha
