eliminating a score ticker
Dean Martineau <topdot@...>
I’m trying to see if there exists a way to eliminate speaking of an automatic score ticker that counts down every second of every game under way in the American Hockey League. You see this during games, which take place most evenings, on https://theahl.com/ It makes for a lot of unnecessary and distracting speech. I’ve tried a lot of settings and the ticker just keeps on monotonously speaking.

Re: keyboard shortcut to announce input keyboard indicator?
Lev,
The keyboard/language indicator in the taskbar is one of the oddities, in that you cannot choose for it not to be in the taskbar if you have installed multiple language packs. I just checked the Select which icons appear in the taskbar settings and its nowhere to be found. It showed up as soon as I had added additional language packs (in this case, variants of English). Things have changed somewhat since I added these, but under 1909 it's under Settings, Time & Language, Language Pane, Add a preferred language button. There's also a new-to-me link for Choose an input method to always use as default. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Tolerance is the positive and cordial effort to understand another's beliefs, practices, and habits without necessarily sharing or accepting them. ~ Joshua Liebman

well thank you both, I already do what you guys suggested, but I
was wondering if there was a single key stroke combination to
verbalize the input keyboard language. I know that this is not as
if it were a long long way but I was just wondering, anyway
thanks.

Hi, you can't find it probably because you haven't set up yet this icon to appear on the taskbar. In order to do it, go to windows settings, personalization, taskbar, select which icons appear on the taskbar.

I don't find that when I press insert f11. Perhaps because I use only English?

Re: keyboard shortcut to announce input keyboard indicator?
Or you can check in your system tray, for me it says:
Tray Input Indicator - English (United States) Or, if I switch to my German keyboard layout: Tray Input Indicator - German (Germany)
I can press Jaws Key + F11 to bring up the system tray and press “T” to jump to that item and hear it read. Of course I don’t usually do this because if I switch to German Eloquence speaks the letters I type in German.

Re: keyboard shortcut to announce input keyboard indicator?
If there isn't one, you could use Windows Key+Space to switch to the next input keyboard followed immediately by SHIFT + Windows Key + Space to jump back to what you were on.

keyboard shortcut to announce input keyboard indicator?
Leo
Hello everyone, is there a keyboard shortcut to verbalize the current keyboard language in windows 10? I have my system
tray set to show the input indicator; however, all too often
it would be useful for me to know what is the current input
language on the fly, -- if someone knew I would really appreciate any info about it. -- Best, Leo.

Re: Unable to activate button on web site
Have you tried Jaws Key + Control + Enter to see if it says something like “Change at line 6”, of course it could be any number different from 6, just used it as an example.

I wonder if this is one of those annoying pull down menus, that after tabbing to it and hitting space bar or enter, a dialog of sorts opens either above or below that spot on the screen. I've not dealt with that site, but I have run across some where the information showed up above rather than below.

Re: what to do when told to control click on windows with jaws?
And if the Jaws cursory reads it, you can simply go there wit the Jaws cursor, press Control and then click the button. You could also try Control + Enter, it may or may not work, but you won’t know until you try.

It’s a good question. As a button, you should be able to reach it by pressing the letter “b.” If “b” does get you there, I’d feel confident you’ll click the right control.
If that doesn’t work, another way is to move the JAWS cursor to the PC cursor when you have focus on the restore button. You do this by pressing insert and the JAWS key together on the numpad. If all goes well, JAWS will confirm that focus remains on that button. In that case, stay with the JAWS cursor but activate the button by pressing insert-PC (plus) button on the numpad.
I’m a bit foggy on this last one, but tabbing or arrowing with the touch cursor might also get you to the restore button. That’s shift-PC cursor. You get out of the touch cursor by pressing the PC cursor twice.
If none of these techniques works, you might post again with an explanation of what’s happening when you try to work with this control.

I,
How do I ensure that I’m on the item I wish to click?
I have to click the “restore options” button in Backblaze.

Jaws should say what you are on. You should be able to tab to it or use the left or right arrows, but if you can tab to it, that will be the best way to know you are on the right item. If it doesn’t say anything, then you are stuck.

You may be able to get the same result simply by pressing the application key. Technically if you need to exactly replicate the keystroke I think you need to invoke the Jaws cursor and route jaws to the pc cursor – insert plus numpad minus in desktop layout and then hold down the control key and press numpad slash once to invoke a virtual mouse click. I would try bringing up the context menu with the application key first though as I find this unpredictable in results. David Griffith

Hi,
I’m using Backblaze with the latest version of Jaws.
I emailed support, due to a problem.
They told me to control click a button.
How, with jaws do I do that?
Thanks,
Jessica
