I just did this from my taskbar and moved several items to different places on the taskbar. This works as it always has for me and yes I’m on the latest release.

Hi.

As you all are probably aware, a new version of jaws was released yesterday, and I have a question about the Picture Smart feature. Can this make it easier for us to solve those captias we’ve spent years on battling?

Thanks.

I apologize for the misunderstanding. I never attempted to relocate task bar icons, or to relocate anything excepting text. There was an old program, originally used by windows xp, called power menu. I believe it was adapted for use with later windows products. Which could move program icons to the system trey. Which relocation proved immensely valuable to me. It served to cause less clutter on the task bar itself. The program was a free one. If it still exists it might serve to do what might be wanted. By those who wish to move various icons.

Not quite, no. You're literally using the mouse to move things around, like for example icons on your taskbar, or certain web applications that for reasons known only to them will only answer to drag and drop.

Copy and paste work in the areas where they are supposed to work. And that's good. I sure use them a lot too. But as has been said, it's not the same thing; not all software has an edit menu with those options and not all items are clipboard accessible. It's kind of an essential feature and yes, it's probably worth making a fuss about.

In which situations will transferring files and folders between applications not work using copy/paste? Genuinely curious, as that’s how I do it on a daily basis.

Drag and drop is certainly most effective and necessary in some operations.  For example, if you need to transfer files or folders to a window of another open application, copy and paste won't work.  That's when drag and drop comes in handy.  Perhaps jaws' way of implementing the drag and drop windows feature doesn't work well because of the over reliance of the Jaws key.  On the mac for example,  Command+, and Command+. will do the job, which corresponds to the control+C and control+V key combinations on windows.  Cheers!

Netbat,

Wonder if you were experiencing what I would describe as a stuck right arrow
key. There was a time when I was automatically thrown into a submenu when
opening a menu, without touching any other keys. Seemed like I was in a race
to tap my key before the stuck key got in the way.

Glad it worked out.

there reason is being lazy! figuring their intelligence is greater than those of us who work with their software. I'll give you an example; many people here use the send space wizard. If you're downloading a bunch of files and wish to show the original sender which files had errors, rather than try and remember that bunch of files, you can hit right arrow once from where the "transfer" "tab" shows, and you'll get into the log of the transfer since the wizard was invoked. If you wish to show the original sender the erroneous transfers, you can move the mouse to the line where the file or file(s) descriptions begin, lock the left button down, cursor down to the last line, and perform the marking and drag and drop it into an email to them.

I did this just the other day!

what kind of idiocy is that? If they believe that control-c, control-v acts like "drag and drop" they truly have forgotten one of the main idea about original windows. Hi, Brian. Vispero says that CONTROL plus JAWS Key plus NumPad slash has been retired from JAWS as Drag and Drop. They told me that it was an oversight that it has not been removed from the documentation files.

You know, it wouldn’t be the worst thing to try getting clarification from Vispero at this point.

Hi, Debbie. I’m in Desktop layout, and I checked, and Drag and Drop is defined in Keyboard Manager, and it still doesn’t say anything when I select something to drag, and press CONTROL plus JAWS Key, and the slash on the NumPad.

I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but the command for Drag and Drop (CONTROL plus JAWS Key plus NumPad slash has been removed from JAWS Version 2019.1903.9. The command is still listed, though, in the help file, and in the Command Search (JAWS Key plus SPACE, followed by J.)

Hi.

As you all are probably aware, a new version of jaws was released yesterday, and I have a question about the Picture Smart feature. Can this make it easier for us to solve those captias we’ve spent years on battling?

Thanks.
