I remember having this problem, but I don’t recall how I overcame it. Tom has posted the method that ought to work, JAWS key+3 on the numpad. Since that doesn’t work for you, you might do a JAWS repair and a Microsoft Office repair. If you’re unfamiliar with either repair method, please re-post.

Greetings all can someone suggest how I might fix this problem. Instead of reading the number of messages jaws says connectivity to your server I think it has to do with how outlook is set up in terms of the folder view but not sure.

Email client for Jaws 2019
Nickus de Vos
Hi all
I'm running the latest Windows 10 with Jaws 2019. I'm battling to find a email client which is accessible with Jaws 2019. I tried MS Office since I have Office 365 and I also tried Windows Mail, but Jaws 2019 seams to have issues with both. Unless I'm missing something, is there maybe settings to be changed or layouts which make these work better with Jaws 2019? Thank you Nickus

Re: Would someone share a default.jdf file, please?

Marie,
Interestingly, my Dectalk Express synthesizer read “read” correctly both times in your example, that is, present tense first, then past tense. Whoever is behind this engine, or possibly the JAWS pronunciation itself, figured out a way to tell a synthesizer when to read certain words a certain way. Not all words work as well. “Polish” comes to mind. Whether it’s the surface smoother or a person from Poland, the pronunciation is the same.

Part of the problem could be the weird issue in the English language of spelling words the same but having a different pronunciation depending on where the word is used. Unfortunately a screen reader can only have one way of pronouncing these word so they pick the most common usage. Example is you might read a text today or you may have read it yesterday.

Hi everyone, I like to use eloquence synthesizer because it’s very responsive, and I’m used to it. However, if you use this voice on a regular basis, you’ll have probably noticed that eloquence awkwardly mispronounce lots of words, some of them very common words. So, I wonder if someone has a default dictionary for jaws that is willing to share. Besides, given that I’m not a native English speaker, all too often I can’t figure out how a word is accurately pronounced. If someone could share with me their default.jdf file, I’d really appreciate it.
Tanks in advance

The groups you belong to should show up under the groups menu. Now, here is the trick, the last group you posted too will be the first one you see so to speak. I E, if you posted last to a kitchen group, it will be the first one in the line up. Guide dog, could be right under the kitchen one or in the 6th position. Face Book only shows you the first 6 groups, under the 6th is the prompt for all of your face book groups. I’m musing if the group you were looking for was # 7 or lower.

Thanks for your reply Nermin,
I had a pair of eyes look at the screen but all that was shown was it was a Trojan and was severe. I would like to know where it was originally located and where it is now after being blocked.
Thanks Tom

Settings, Update & Security, Windows Security Pane, Open Windows Security Button.
Once Windows Security itself is open: Virus & Threat Protection Pane, Protection History Link. Under the Protection History dialog you should have a detailed listing of things identified and quarantined. I can't tell you more than that as I have none at the moment to go through. I believe there is a link per item, but I could be wrong. Just explore the dialog and you should find it. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Tolerance is the positive and cordial effort to understand another's beliefs, practices, and habits without necessarily sharing or accepting them. ~ Joshua Liebman

Defender and trojan notice
tom x
Hi, Using: latest W10 64 bit with all updates, latest Jaws 2020
I have just completed a full Defender scan and Defender reports that it found a Trojan but can’t find any way of checking to determine what it is and where it was located. The Trojan has now been blocked and supposedly has been moved to quarantine.
How can I obtain all the details on the Trojan and where Defender has moved it to?
Thanks
Tom

Facebook queston
Justin Mcdevitt
Hello to all,
I access Facebook primarily with my Iphone. On some occasions I open Facebook Mobile using my PC. Some minutes ago, I attempted to post a message to a Guide dog user group that I belong too. However, after Facebook mobil opened up and the opened the groups menu, I automatically landed on another group that I also belong to. I did a search for the guide dog group and was prompted to join. Though already being a member of this group, this was irrelevant. Is there a keyboard command to access other groups that are a part of my Facebook profile?
Best, Justin

I was just wondering if any of you have ever noticed your sound card device crackle when using speech? I just got a new Lenovo p52 mobile workstation computer and there is some annoying crackle when speech occurs. I would appreciate if anyone has any good ideas on how to fix this.

go to sounds in the control panel. go to the default sound card then see if you have the tab control called enhancements and turn off all enhancements.
