If you're asking whether the Windows Search under Windows 10 can search document content and e-mail message content the answer is yes.

I know that document content is enabled as the default.  Enabling e-mail content will be dependent on the e-mail client you are using and, if memory serves, must be enabled by you once your chosen e-mail client is in place so that Windows Search knows where it's searching.

No need to apologize with regard to being used to Windows 7.  We've been anticipating a wave of new Windows 10 users after Windows 7 went out of support.

You can go to chrome settings, advanced, downloads, and activate that toggle
that says "ask where to save each download" or something, if you want a
prompt.
Ctrl-j will also take you to your downloads "library".

My experience with Chrome is that when I click on a download link, the file
is downloaded without any confirmation. The way to find out if it's arrived
in your system is to press shift-F6. If it's there, JAWS will speak its
name. Assuming your default is your downloads folder, you can also navigate
to that folder and confirm.

Robin answered your other question. I'd add that control-F4 closes an
individual window for me.

I am using Chrome on a Windows 10 machine with JAWS 2020 and I am having
trouble with the following tasks which I had no problem completing using
Firefox (which has gone completely flaky on my laptop).
Opening a file on a web page. In Firefox I could click a file link and I
would be given the option to open or save the file. Chrome does not give me
this option. According to web searches using CTRL+Enter and/or SHIFT+Enter
should do the trick. Neither option works for me.

Closing a window and/or going back to the previous window. In Firefox I
could use the File, Close Window to complete this task. As an example after
performing a Google search I click on a result and after reading it I want
to go back to the results page. Web searches have not turned up any viable
solutions.

I use an ear piece with a microphone.  Then you are the only one hearing it. Hit the control key when it speaks those things or just tune it out.  I keep jaws on as I usually take meeting notes in Word while the meeting is in progress.

This is great information to have;  but I often don’t need it when attending or participating in a meeting, since I’m typically not the main meeting organizer.

 

I suppose I could mute my audio via Alt A, but then people won’t be able to hear me.

 

I also could turn Jaws off, but that seems a bit extreme.

 

Any suggestions for dealing with unwanted Jaws speech during a Zoom meeting would be appreciated.

 

I simply don’t want to distract other meeting attendees.

I have located a pair of headphones to use during the conference.

Just prior to the event, I will click on the Join Link.

I know there is a hotkey to set up the audio link specific to the headphones.
