Good question, I downloaded some scripts for putty and they seem to do nothing for Jaws 2019 or Jaws 16 when using putty.
The thing it needs to do is to echo what is going on in the window, so one does not have to keep routing the jaws cursor and reading between commands.

I have a question on scripts in general. If I download the executable file for scripts, do  simply run the .exe file and the program automatically places the scripts where they need to be?

What’s the procedure for putting scripts where they need to be to work with JAWS?

Thanks. John Riehl

Honestly, typing is one of the most important skills lacking in the Blind.  Mostly among the newly Blind.
However, with that in mind, in my opinion, I would state that it is despicable to make profit off a typing program designed for the Blind.
I think makers of software for the Blind, or other disabilities if it exists, need to stop making a living off the backs of the disabled, and spearhead an open-source movement for specialized software for the disabled,  and get a real job.
It will always be a small market and the cost will always be ten to twenty times the cost to the consumer of similar software, to the general public because of its limited market.
That is why the rehabilitation-specific software that state agencies purchase cost a couple million dollars per agency and about a third of a million annually to maintain it, for a product that by standards of complexity could otherwise easily be done as open-source software.
I have a degree in business management, so it's not like I don't understand how business works.  And I find it even worse when the disabled themselves engage in profiting off their brothers and sisters, especially when they have or still do exist on a disability-related income.
But to my original point, there needs to be an open-source typing program designed for the Blind, because a good one would incorporate some screenreader keyboard commands, Fun With Typability does this, I don't recall if TTT does, it's been a long time since I taught with that one.  So they are decent products in terms of what is needed, they only need to be free to consumers.  Perhaps they should operate like some programs do, free for home use, and a cost for business use.

To be honest with you, I would have to agree. Talking Typing Teacher although it is very helpful for training, I find that The company that created the program isn’t helpful to its clients, and don’t let your system break down. You will have to perches the program again, meaning that you can only use it for the life of your hard drive. A lot of people don’t know this. You are allowed to download the software three times, but anything after three times you get no reset codes, and unless you buy directly from them they will not honor anyone buying outside of their company. Stores like Maxi aides or an on-line company that sell their product cannot make any decisions to reset your three activations.

Now, I’ve had dealings with the creator of the scripts, and decided to move my clients over to Fun with Typability, because it’s set up for the Jaws user.

They will work with you as well when it comes down to helpful hints and training methods.

it can not update without a internet connection.
but if you wait even a minute after it has been installed it will update. you have to be fast. grin
then you have to open the internet options menu and find advanced somewhere and change it to never check for updates. i also turn off use background services. i don't know if the updateing uses this. i have closed firefox and reloaded it and went back to make sure it is still set to never update.
someone else, maybe on this list found the updater program in the program files x86\mazilla folder and renamed this file so firefox can't find it to do an update.

There used to be an option on the File menu in Office programs for "Send as attachment". In recent versions, this has been replaced by a "file Share" button on the Home ribbon. It's toward the far right end of the ribbon, past the Styles group. The shortcut to open this dialog of options is Alt, then z, then S. There are options to make your document into the body of the email or to attach it to a message. Like others, I prefer to grab files from File Explorer and attach them, but I think this alternative may be what you were asking for. It does assume that Outlook is your default email program. If not, you'll need to make that the case before trying to use the feature.

Hi?

This is a great program! Many people that I trained with it loved it over talking typing teacher. All  you get is if you sessions for free with the demo. After those sessions have been used, the program is not usable until you purchase a license.

Hi friends!

I’d love to train some people using the above mentioned program.

In a demo version, do I use it 15 times and that’s it? Has anyone used it before? I do not know if my question is clear, if not, please dear friends let me know.

Thank you!

There's Firefox 52.6.0, which is the one I've attempted to install on my
Windows 7 machine, but it keeps updating without my consent even with the
Internet connection unplugged from the back of the computer.

Is there a version that does at this point?

if you don't it will upgrade you as soon as you open it.
you have to leeve your internet connection off until you turn off automatic
updates and i also turn off the background services i think its called. this
is in the same advanced settings area.

This is rather strange, since I can run it fine on this machine with Windows
XP, same version (52.6.0), but I can't seem to run it on my Windows 7 machine
since February 14 of this year. Before then, it was working fine. When I
reinstall it, it automatically tries updating to Firefox 60, and I don't
understand why, because I've turned off updates to Firefox. Has anyone else
had this happen to them?

I actually go through an ethernet connection which has its main point at the
headquarters of the apartment complex where I live. In fact, I unplugged the
cable I have from the ethernet connection on the back of my computer, and I
still get the same "Firefox is not responding", and it just hangs there with
my whole machine frozen until I exit Firefox. What's up with that, I wonder?

by unplugging the modem if you don't have it on a power strip.
a few modems have a button you can press to disconnect from the net too.
but you have to do this right after firefox has been installed.

Hi All,

There are 2 methods I use, one seems a bit easier, but the second is quite easy as well.

I have found that the most simple way to attach a Word file is to navigate to the document through Windows Explorer or Word itself, and press the old reliable Control + C to copy it to the clipboard.  Then go to the body of the email, and press Control + V to paste it in.  You can verify the process by pressing shift tab to get to the list of attachments that is between the subject line and the body of the email text; your file name should appear there.

The other easy method is the same for starters, you find the file in a list under Windows Explored.  Right click (applications key or shift + F10), and arrow to the “send to” line.  Open this with the right arrow.  Arrow down to “mail recipient” and press enter.  Alt tab and you will find your Outlook message ready to go with the file already attached.  Your cursor is in the “to” box.  I think Outlook needs to be running for this to work, so start Outlook before issuing the “send to” command.

Yes, I used to get that, too. I had to go into Programs\Mozilla Firefox, and remove the file called updater.exe to get it to stop updating.

Yeah,

Windows 7 here, mine reset itself and made me go into FireFox's safe mode to get it back, and I had a hell of a time getting the settings like I had them with my home page.  Thankfully my choice of home page has a button to set it as the default home page, because FF would not do it any more.

It kept wanting me to use the choice of search engines it offered me.

Hello:

Has anyone completed the 2020 census on line at my2020census.gov?

At the top, it asks screen reader users to use the latest version of Internet Explorer and JAWS.  I wonder how secure IE is now.

Any thoughts?

I'm using version 68.6.0 (32-bit) of the Firefox Extended Support Release which came out when JAWS was first having issues with the initial Firefox Quantum release. I'm still running Windows 7 but this version of Firefox works well with Fusion 2020.
