Re: upgrading jaws from 7 to 12

Dave Scrimenti <dscrimenti@...>

Chuck, my message was entirely sarcastic. Given the fact that there are absolutely no functional differences between Jaws standard and Jaws pro, there is no rational justification for charging different prices. In Windows on the other hand, there are actually things you can do with the pro version that you can't do with the home version, thus justifying different prices.

its purpose is to make the pro versions of Windows programs compatible with it. In a previous work setting where they were using XP pro and other similar programs the regular version of JAWS wouldn't work so my employer had to pay for the upgrade for me.

Gerald went to the FS website and corrected what I was careful to say was a
guess. If you count the cost of SMAs for those of us who stayed current from
JAWS 7 to 12, FS's $400 price tag for JAWS 12 from 7 looks cheap.

Full price! You mean FS doesn't even give you a break if you are already
a loyal JAWS user? So somebody who is using an older version of JAWS like
JAWS 7 or 8 would pay the same $1000 for JAWS 12 as somebody who has never
used JAWS before? This just doesn't seem fair.

Check with FS in the morning, but I suspect your friend would be asked to
pay full price. I suggest waiting for the release of JAWS 13, which I
believe is anticipated in November. This way if your friend bought an SMA
at
the same time, s/he would be eligible to upgrade to JAWS 14 without
additional charge. In addition, many listers have reported flaws in JAWS
12,
possibly because it is more directed to Windows 7 than XP. I'm assuming
someone using JAWS 7 hasn't yet switched to Windows 7. I still use XP
Pro,
and the warnings on this list have convinced me to stay with JAWS 11,
even
though my SMA entitles me to JAWS 12.

That was really funny when I read the first message you sent saying you

By the way, nothing scientific, but I did ask a few sighted people, and
they generally preferred the response first as well. My cousin said that
if he asked a number of questions in an email, he'd like the answers
inside the original email to make it clear what answer goes with what
question, which I agree with. But in most other cases, he'd prefer
getting
right to the response.

That was really funny when I read the first message you sent saying you
would put your response at the top, while actually putting it underneath.
By the way, nothing scientific, but I did ask a few sighted people, and
they generally preferred the response first as well. My cousin said that
if he asked a number of questions in an email, he'd like the answers
inside the original email to make it clear what answer goes with what
question, which I agree with. But in most other cases, he'd prefer getting
right to the response.

Ok. I'll try to do so. Most sighted people like it the other way, so I'll
adapt depending to which list I am posting.

The following languages are already in process:
Dutch, finnish, hebrew, portuguese, spanish, swedish, and italian.
If you happen to know german or another language that would be great.

its purpose is to make the pro versions of Windows programs compatible with it. In a previous work setting where they were using XP pro and other similar programs the regular version of JAWS wouldn't work so my employer had to pay for the upgrade for me.

Now can someone list all the extra functions you get with the pro version for that extra $200? For $200, you must get a lot more features with the pro version, right?

Hello there;

Well, the unintended setup kit, will install to the CDrive,

As for a second partition,

Hi everyone,

Earlier I have downloaded and used the Windows XP Unattended Setup Kit
from
http://www.jfwlite.com/WinXPUnattendedSetupKit.zip
, and it working fine for me.

But I am not sure how I can modify the Windows XP Unattended Setup Kit so
they make two equal partitions and install Windows XP on the C:-drive, and
only make the D:-drive on my hard drive.

Since I via Google has found that the person there has make the Windows XP
Unattended Setup Kit (Terrill Reynolds) earlier have writen on the
JFW-list, I will ask about if the person have the mail address to Terrill
Reynolds so I can write to him and ask about how I do this.

Very thanks.

Regards,
Anders
