Re: dictionary?

robert hebert <roberthebert@...>

Dorothy, you won't find a dictionary with the type of o c r with Jaws 13.
While it is true that most, if not all scanning programs that use o c r
(occular character recognition) in the case of Jaws 13, they are referring
to on-screen graphical character recognition which is something prior
versions of Jaws were unable to interpret. So, back to your favourite o c r
dictionary! I'm curious though, why did you stop at "yellow fever?"--you
were oh so close, "z" being the next and final letter of the alphabet.

If I am allowed to remind you your OCR will have a large selection, even a

medical dictionary., take latter in small doses however. Only when I got as
far as Yellow fever did I realize it was addictive Dorothy

Does anyone know if there are any dictionary programs accesable with jaws.
I'll probably be needing one for my English class this year. \

how lucky are fs to have such dedicated people regards dorothy

Placing quotes around the link unfortunately did not work. Problem was that
there was a blank space between "2011 and .mp3.
Solution: I have selected most characters in your link omitting the space
before the .mp3. I also left off the "http://"
Now the link begins with "podcast" but the link still works fine--I tested
it a few times. Another benefit is that the link now fits on a single line.
One caveat: Without the prefix of "http:// the line of text does not appear
as a link in the message. This being the case, the following text does work
as a link when pasted into a browser so, here it is.

podcast.freedomscientific.com/FSCast/episodes/fscast058-september2011.mp3

the line wrapped so you will need to copy the entire link in to the
clipboard in order for the link to work. maybe if i place quotes

I just finished listening to the podcast about 13. It looks good and it
seen
that they are working on making it much better. I like the OCR feature. I
will let us see what is there in a picture with text. If you get a web page
that has graphic with text and jaws can not read it because is not text but
a picture of text the OCR will read it to you.

WindowsKey+J does nothing here. Are you sure you don't mean Insert+J?
Me thinks this is a case of operator error.

Hi

chris hallsworth <christopherh40@...>

Hello all.
After what I am seeing with the JAWS 13 public beta, which is very impressive I must say, I have considered coming back. And now I am here. I love the new features. Convenient OCR will come in handy for many scenarios for me, especially because I deal with a lot of virtual machines that wouldn't be accessible otherwise. I know I heavily criticized the program in the past, and I am sincerely sorry for all that, but I am ready to move on and am happy to use JAWS as a backup screen reader as a 40 minute demo. My system is Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. I also have a Windows 7 32 bit netbook running Home Premium.
Take care and cheers.

Hi dorothy, The convenient OCR in jaws 13 is not a replacement for doing
OCR on a document but rather it is designed to perform OCR on screen
elements. Not only does it perform OCR on the screen element, it also
allows you to move through the results with the jaws cursor and if it has
clickable spots you can use the jaws mouse click "NUMPAD slash" to activate
the control.
As some one stated earlier to day they were able to register some software
that had a totally graphical screen.

Yes and a great many to read about jaws13, but since I am not taking risks
myself testing, I merely wonder if the ocR is just a gimmick or really
useful regards dorothy. I cannot imagine fs who want to sell open book of
course giving much of use away, it is what then just a titbityou will have
heard it which voices does use, I have paid for jaws 13 in December it
would have cost more in January, never mind I see you are all having great
fun dorothy?

Trust me, it's not a gimick.
Try it or listen to it being demonstrated in the latest FSCast.

Re: Customizing the OCR Voice

Bissett, Tom <tom.bissett@...>

Hi dorothy, The convenient OCR in jaws 13 is not a replacement for doing OCR on a document but rather it is designed to perform OCR on screen elements. Not only does it perform OCR on the screen element, it also allows you to move through the results with the jaws cursor and if it has clickable spots you can use the jaws mouse click "NUMPAD slash" to activate the control.
As some one stated earlier to day they were able to register some software that had a totally graphical screen.
Regards
Tom Bisset
