Losing Focus in Microsoft Outlook 2010 using JAWS 13

Sharon Clark

Hello,

When opening Microsoft Outlook 2010, I am losing focus with JAWS 13. Is
anyone else having this issue? Does someone know what I can do to resolve
the issue?

Thank You,

Sharon

Research it is working well for me in Jaws 13; but i'm not using any of the sports items. Apparently they fixed some things in there.

Tom Lange

Hi,
I have the same problem with my GMail, too. I don't know if my approach to the problem has been mentioned before. I think what I might do is set up Outlook for GMail on my laptop, using POP3 instead of IMAP. I'll tell it to pull all of the mail off of the server and not leave copies. In theory, that should do the trick. I may not have time to do that for a few days, but when I get around to testing this, I'll let you know what happens.

Is it possible for JAWS to access Googles e books? If so, how. I can't seem to get it to work.

Marquette, Ed <Ed.Marquette@...>

Debbie is absolutely correct; however that turns them all on and off.
I prefer to have tab characters announced. So, I leave that character checked while removing the checks (most of the time) for other symbols, such as the paragraph marker.

Re: Jaws saying Paragraph mark

Marquette, Ed <Ed.Marquette@...>

In case this is peculiar to this document, close it out and open another one. If JAWS is still reading paragraph markers, close MS Word, open again, and see if it is still doing it.
If the above steps do not resolve the problem, then it is likely that, somehow, one of the "View" tab "Options" has been changed.
In MS Word 2003, go to Tools and Options. Arrow with left and right arrow (you might have to use up and down arrow too) until you hear "View tab." Then hit tab until your pinky finger starts to ache. Seriously, hit tab several times until you come to a set of check boxes covering things like tab characters, paragraph markers, and so on. I'm guessing that "paragraph markers" will say "checked." If so, press spacebar to uncheck this option.
Exit, and I'm pretty sure this will solve your problem. BTW, sometimes having the paragraph markers spoken is a good thing; however, this is a Word thing, not a JAWS thing.

Re: Can?t tell if registry items are checked in CCleaner

Bob,

I have had the same problem using CCleaner with JAWS. My workaround is to
run CCleaner again. I haven't done it in a while and don't wish to do so
now, but the results from the first clean become apparent to JAWS the
second time through.

Thanks Jim. The checkboxes in the treeview of items to analyze also work
correctly for me. It is the state of the items in the results list that
don't work for me.

I'm trying to figure out how to get Jaws to read the labelled icons when

Can't tell if registry items are checked in CCleaner with Jaws

CCleaner registry cleaner recent versions, Win XP 32 and Win 7 64. Jaws
11
and 13..

Can't tell if items in the result list are checked. Jaws always says they
are checked even when they are not. Jaws cursor shows graphics labeled
corner and checked. Not indicated when moving through the list. Spacebar
changes state but Jaws doesn't indicate. Always says checked Tried
setting graphics from labeled to all. Still need to use Jaws cursor to
find

out if something is checked or not.

I didn't try everything but doubt the others would help.

How do I conclude the state which is clearly shown as a graphic with the
Jaws cursor to be indicated with using regular navigation. Spacebar
changes

state but Jaws always says an item is checked when navigating to it in the
list. Customize list view didn't help either.

Windows 7 654, Jaws 13.

Re: question about virtual memory

Dave...

Okay, Right click on your My Computer desktop Icon. Ctrl+tab until you get
to the advanced page. First button "settings" (there are three, and all
three say settings).

Here there will be a way to adjust the size of your virtual memory (swap
disk on your hard drive).

Again if you don't have 4 Gb RAM installed, you should look into purchasing
and installing to get the most you can. You didn't say, but if you're using
a 64-bit version of XP you could go even higher.

Bob,

You're completely on your own when it comes to working in your registry. No
one who has a good moral compass would advise whether you should or should
not remove any keys. Too dangerous. I do my own and do so only with backups

Good luck.

Are there any registry keys that should be
added to the exclude list.

I've added any folder related to Jaws or FS to the exclude list but wonder
about a few keys. One is
HKCR\Rainbow.Activator.ConfigurationFile\DefaultIcon

Dave...

What? How are we supposed to answer that question for you? Any advice you
get from us will not be relevant to your registry. And *not* related to
JAWS, by the way.

Re: [Bulk] OT: How to delete huge number of messages from gmailinboxat onceusing JAWS

Samara Raine <samararaine@...>

I'm trying to think, but I think that would depend on how many e-mail messages you choose to have on one page of your inbox at a time. Like for me, I have 50 on each page. I'm not sure how far up the numbers can go, but I'll try and figure out how else you might be able to delete tons of messages.

Re: [Bulk] [Bulk] OT: How to delete huge number of messages from gmailinboxat onceusing JAWS

Dave...

Keatan,

If you have that many messages, then call Google Tech Support and ask them
to do it for you. Or else close your Google Mail account, and open a new
one.
Obviously not a JAWS issue.
