Mike, my note was addressed to Ann (not the word "and"), though it was about
your query. There's a floating "if" that I've just noticed, but read what I
wrote again and maybe it will make sense now. By the way, it would help
greatly if you'd spell-check your postings. They're a little hard to read
with the misspellings.

Ok ...and?? Did You forget the first part of the message? I am aware that
acess used to work well with jaws. That was an earlier version of both
acess and jaws. I am to understand that jaws will not read half of acess
now and they will not fix the problems, because acess is being discontinued
by Microsoft.
2010 is the last office suite that will contain it. There are however, a
lot of big businesses that use acess for their data bases, and I don't see
them all discontinuing its use. The college is teaching it and I will do as
good as is possible. Thanks, Mike -----Original Message-----

Access? What was your experience? If Mike can obtain a copy, would it be

version of JAWS can be safely installed aftter a later one is already on the

This is not the program that works very well with JAWS. In fact they do not

Re: access with jaws

Dave...

Mike,

One participant on this list has been having trouble with MS-Access for
years and several versions of JAWS. I also tried using it a few years ago,
and when I contacted FS on the usability of MS-Access, I was told that there
were no scripts currently developed for it. Since it's not a mainstream
application, it does not get strong attention from the script developers.

You may not find much relief in using MS-Access with JAWS.

Any way you can use a band-aid approach and import/export from/to Excel and
do your processing and development work with Excel, instead?

Excel is definitely (as you've already reported) well-supported by scripts.

Re: Jaws in a call center environment

Mike Mote <mikemote@...>

Ted, I have looked at the Alpine Access job requirements, and honestly, I think it's better than most set-ups out there, in that you use your phone line to take the calls, and use the computer to access the customer's information. At least that's what it sounds like. I may get the chance to find out. I've applied for a couple of positions. I know Cloud 10 is not accessible with jaws.

Never tried working from home, although we floated the idea a while
back. The hang up was not JFW, but the soft phone arrangement. I
needed some sort of one-touch option for answering. By the time one
switched to the appropriate app, and fumbled for the JAWS cursor, that
call would be gone to voice mail. We never got the problem resolved, so
here I remain with my huge VOIP telephone with the easily accessible
buttons. This was to have been a contingency plan for bad weather, as I
work 50 miles from home.

Ted, thanks for responding. I'd be interested to know how well JFW
works in
a work from home virtual call center environment. I've seen jobs
available
with Alpine Access. I tried working with Cloud 10, and that didn't work
well at all. If you'd be so kind, I'd like to know first how to find
jobs
with companies that have software that works with jaws, and how JFW
works in
these situations.

Anyone ever had experience with this before?

Re: jaws and excel:

michael grove <attackfisherman1@...>

Ok first you will not be able to increase the cell size to a particular
pixel . Also you will find the a few of the more ribbon tabs will not say
more, then when u navigate into them they will not read. These were things
that we did not have to use in the class very much. I was glad of that.
Sometimes I was to point and click on an arrow in a tab and that I coul not
figure out a way to do. And if you need to posision your field or table on
a specific place on the worksheet I was unable to do this. The way it was
accomplished was to grab the corner of the slected table and drag it to a
specific spot. Excell is a great program, but I hope I will not have to use
it to the degree that we did in class. There is a lot to remember with
navigateing the pages.

just purchase it later instead of when it comes out...
Peace!

Kimsan,

No, if you look at the beginning of this thread, you'll see that Mr. Ted
was
replying rather belatedly to a message dated 9 September, over a month
old.
No need for concern, listers!

Obviously this is not a bullet proof solution but I wonder why it doesn't
work for you Dave but the original poster wrote back and said it worked for
him. I've seen other emails where the same was said, it worked, thanks and
no nothing happened. Hmmm.

Kimsan,

I just looked, and in my case preview pane is already unchecked.

Try disabling the preview paine.
Windows key e for windows explore, shift tab twice until you hear command
modual toolbar organize button and right arrow until you hear preview pain
and if the box is checked, uncheck it.
Please write back if it works.

Subject: windows explorer crashing on win 7 when jaws running

Hi

Got me a nasty problem I need to solve before the weekend as I have a 2-day
class to take.

New Dell laptop running Windows 7 64bit.

Latest Jaws 12 as well as 13 beta and the problem is the same in both.

If I open windows explorer I am fine till I open a folder that has files in
it. Then explorer crashes and I get error that says

Windows explorer not responding.

This does not happen if jaws is not running.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Oscar

I work in such a setting. We have my phone and computer audio connected
through a device. I have been helped trememndously by our in-house tech
staff in consultation with the local JAWS distributor to have JAWS workable
with or on-line data base. It's taken a lot of customizing, despite the
software producer's insistance that the program is JAWs-Ffriendly.

Good luck.

Hi folks! I wanted to ask if anyone has ever used jaws in a call center
work environment. I may be taking a job soon that requires me to work
in a virtual call center. I'm really interested to see how jaws reacts.
Anyone ever had experience with this before?

Re: Jaws in a call center environment

Marquette, Ed <Ed.Marquette@...>

So, what phone system works well with JAWS. I don't work in a call center environment, but I have lots of occasions to need to review the screen, listening to JAWS, while also talking on the phone.
None of the soft phone solutions I've tried, in an office environment (not exactly a call center environment) works all that well.
