Re: Tone up program!!

Chris Smart <csmart8@...>

By "tone up", do you mean system maintenance and optimization, or body building? *grin*
I use JV16 Pro, but it requires some Jaws cursoring. Someone with the time and skills could script it easily I'm sure, but for the few times I've needed to run it, I haven't gotten frustrated and it does what I want it to do.

That said, all I do is optimize and clean the registry. The various maintenance utilities built into Windows 7 do a fine job.

AIM

Rick Roderick <rickrod@...>

Although I prefer Windows Live, a lot of my Facebook friends use AIM. I
find that, in many cases, I have to use the JAWS cursor to read messages. I
don't hear them automatically. Another very feature is that no matter what
window I'm in, I am taken to the AIM Window. Any suggestions?

Sarah,
Unfortunately SPSS does not work well with Jaws at all. I've taken three
stats related courses over the last three semesters and was not able to
use
SPSS myself. You have a couple other options, as excel has a data package
that your school can get so you can use excel to do all the work in your
class. It's not the best solution as excel is not as powerful as SPSS,
and
you have to do much of the work manually. Another option, this is the one
I
use in my classes, is to ask your professor if it would be possible to do
the spss part of the course with a partner. This way you could learn the
basic workings and commands for spss and work with your partner to enter
the
data, but not be responsible for actually using it yourself. I hope this
helps, and let me know if you have any more questions.

What model Dell Latitude do you have? I had D610, D630, and now an E6520 --
all have the touchstick. Note that it's not actually a stick, but more like
a small pencil eraser, rubbery surface and very low, as one other lister
noted.

You actually have both a touch pad and a touchsgick. I disabled both.
However it required someone going into the BIOS to do this.

Using the Control Panel would allow only one of the two to be disabled --

Dave...

Nice feature on the Toshiba. Not available on a Dell, however. And we've
also noted that based on the Dell model, there are more than one methods for
disabling.

1. BIOS disabling of the touchpad on Dell Latitude D630
2. Control Panel on someone else's Dell laptop (model not recalled at this
point).
3. Fn + F5 Toggles through enabling and disabling touchstick, touchpad, and
both on E6520.

Subject: Re: [Bulk] dell machine touch pad

Kimsan,

What model Dell Latitude do you have? I had D610, D630, and now an E6520 --
all have the touchstick. Note that it's not actually a stick, but more like
a small pencil eraser, rubbery surface and very low, as one other lister
noted.

David:
Hmm, I felt around and I asked my wife to also look and there is nothing
between the G, H and N keys.
What is the point behind the touch stick again?
Maybe I don't have one?

Kimsan,

It's there -- between the G, H, B, and N keys.

Kimsan,

You actually have both a touch pad and a touchsgick. I disabled both.
However it required someone going into the BIOS to do this.

Using the Control Panel would allow only one of the two to be disabled --
not both.

I got this new del latitude machine. Does anyone know how to disable the
touch pad via a keystroke instead of the control panel route?
