Re: Ipods and jaws

Dave...

Yes. Works very well. Voiceover is a good interface. And to keep this on a
JAWS topic, iTunes has a set of JAWS scripts written to make it more
accessible under Windows. Once you've mastered the iTunes interface, it's
relatively easy to learn how to create playlists in your library and sync
them to the iPod. But there's another good list that you should subscribe to
for these questions, since again this is straying away from the purpose of a
JAWS-related list. No, I'm not a moderator, in spite of others' attempts to
brand me in that fashion. I'm just a lister who knows that eventually our
moderator (or other moderator-wanna-bees) will chime in and complain about
the lack of JAWS relevance.

Greetings to all.

My name is Michelle Abadia and I've just subscribed to this list 15 minutes

I use Jaws version 13 on a Dell Inspiron laptop computer with Windows 7.
I've downloaded Itunes into it and all seems well. However, I would like to
know if there are accessible ipods out there and if anyone has manageed to
transfer songs easily with Jaws on the desktop and "Voice over" on the Ipod?
I understand that the 6th Generation Nano has "voice over"? That's what I've
read, at least.

Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated. Any experiences you may
have had will help as well.

Thank you so very much.

Tina:

If you decide to Defrag your hard drive or use Disk Clean up, do not be surprised about the length of time either of these functions might take.

In fact, it is more than likely that each of these processes will take some time, as you have never done them before.

I use Disk Clean Up on a weekly basis. By doing so, the Disk Clean Up process does not take much time at all.

I use Defrag once a month.

desperate situation, too. <lol>

Tina,

Sure defragging is no problem. Also finding your disk space is
easy. Both
are accessed the same way:

1. Windows Explorer (Windows+E)

A. To find the amount of space, use the JAWS cursor
Arrow down and you will hear information about the hard drive,
the amount of
space used and the amount of space still available.
PC cursor when you're done.

2. Windows Explorer (Windows+E)
Arrow to your C: drive and press Alt+Enter
B. Defrag.
Ctrl+Tab to the next pane
Then tab to the defrag button and press Enter
Tab to the Analyze button and wait until it's done.
If defrag is recommended you can read this by searching with the
JAWS
cursor.
If recommended, then tab to the start button and press Enter.
Go have some coffee or tea, read a book, etc. It could take
several hours or
several minutes, depending on how much defragging is necessary.
When its done you will see a dialog with a report button and a
Close button.

Wow, there's more to this than I would have thought. Here I was
thinking that it would be an easy way to free up space/declutter,
since my computer keeps telling me that it's low on disc space.
Where
can I find the information about how big the hard disc is and how
much
of the space is free? As it happens, I jumped from 5 to 11 and am
hoping to upgrade to 13 as soon as I get a chance to sit down and
do
it. Unfortunately, I tend to get into more trouble than I can get
myself out of when I get too adventurous, so perhaps I'd better
leave
well enough alone on this one, then, and find some other programs
and
files that can go. I'm glad I asked!!! Btw, is defragging a
screen
reader friendly process? Other people have done it for me, but
I'm
wondering if I can do it myself.

Tina

Yes, JAWS 9 also enables me to complete forms that I can't
access with
later
versions. Presumably, it's a result of that JAWS 10 video
chain change,
whatever that entailed. Users might find it worth the minor
annoyance of
retaining a pre-10 version of JAWS for this reason.

Hi,
I subscribe to a data base on the web where one moves from page to page
where there are no edit fields.

On openingthe page, the auto form's mode chirp sound sounds as ifthere was
an editfield present.
The automatic form's mode chirp sound does sound.

But there are no form edit fields.

Hitting the letter "f" discovers no edit field.

I pay for the data and cannot share it here.

This is confusing asI
am supposed to believe that the auto form's mode sound
announces only form edit fields

I realize one can turn auto forms mode off.

Just tryingto make things work.

Hi Cal,

Below is a direct link to a tutorial that might help you with learning how
to change your sound schemes through Sounds & Audio Devices in the Control
Panel.

Hope this helps. Take care.

Subject: Sounds in Word 2003

Hi! I recently had my computer at work set back to the factory resets
after some software problems and I'm still trying to get things back to
where they were before. One issue I have is that when I open a Word
document, go to spell-check it, etc., I'm getting sounds which I assume are
associated to the particular action I'm performing. I had these sounds
turned off before, but can't figure out how to turn them off now. Can
someone tell me how to do this? Thank you in advance.

Auto Form Field

If you are within your web browser press your insert(num pad 0) and while
holding this down press the letter v. Then arrow down until you hear forms,
then arrow down again and it will tell you checked if it is on and turn it
off press your enter key and this will turn it off. If you want it back on
again then just repeat the same procedure.

editfields?

Hi,
I subscribe to a data base on the web where one moves from page to page
where there are no edit fields.
