Hi,
I wantedto install the otherwiseexcellent training modulesfromt he
Freedom Scientific Training site.

They did not open and could not be readafter being downloaded.

I was given 3 sets of instructions. none of them seemed to conflict so
I followed them eachtime checkingwith tech support. in order expecting
success.

I am in an older JAWS version andwantedto getthe instructions for JAWS
versions 12 and 113--2 versions in the future so I could learn and not ask
questions on this list.

So I was told to
uninstall the downloaded
training files
like the training module for Settings Center,
for Ribbons in Word 7, like
WindowsExplorer and Recycle Bin (in Windows 7),
like the latest Surf's UP etc.

You get the idea.
ThenI was told to delete the
enu folder as in this
path
c:\program files\freedomscientific\training\JAWS\enu.

The path
c:\programfiles\freedomscientific\training\MAGIC\enu
exists.

But
unfortunately
the
JAWS\enu
folders are gone!

No one of course can help me; it is the week end.
I havespent 40 ghours following instructionsto no avail.

How do I gett he
JAWS\enu
folders back
as in
c:\programfiles\freedomscientific\training\JAWS\enu?

I thought I could obtain, downloadand usethe latest training modules
to speed up my learning for the latest version before going to Windows 7.

NowI am worse off.

Please help off list.

thanks.

Re: [Bulk] [Bulk] [Bulk] Jaws 13 & Virtual Ribbons

Dave...

Ed,

While that's entirely possible, it's a lot of work to make up for something
that's elementally wrong with how the setup is working. I also have Windows
7 32-bit with Office 2007 and I can use the Alt key shortcuts just fine when
virtual ribbon is turned off.

Jim, just to make sure, you are aware that the keystrokes are separate, and
not combined? e.g. Alt, then h then o then r. Not Alt+H, then o then r.

Also I've noticed that they need to be typed in succession fairly quickly or
Office loses patience.

OK.
Another alternative is to assign your own keystrokes. I've done this with
Word, but not Outlook; however, I did see the same "options" menu choice.
You could simply (possibly) assign Alt plus Shift 0plus S to save
attachment.
In Word, for example, just to give a sample that I can remember off the top
of my head, Alt plus shift plus X brings up the cross-reference dialog box.
Using menu commands, it takes about 4 keystrokes.

I didn't mean to confuse things by talking about the use of virtual ribbons.
I know the keystrokes won't work there. The problem I'm trying to solve is
to be able to use the keystrokes with the traditional standard ribbons.
It's probably a Freedom Scientific tech support problem to solve since it
seems that others can use Jaws 13, the traditional standard ribbons, and the
keystrokes just fine. Something may be messed up with my system.

keep the virtual ribbon disabled completely.

This is the same behavior as with JAWS 12, BTW.

Hello there;

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news.

You gotta use one or the other.

If you like to use keystrokes, then?
You need to have the jaws virtual ribbon shut off.
However, if you wish to navigate the ribbon through the menus, then?
Having the feature on will be fine.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I want to use the standard ribbons, mostly because I've got the
keystrokes down for certain functions. For example, I often use the alt+h,
x, n keystrokes to save attachments within Outlook. When one uses the
virtual ribbon, those keystrokes no longer work. And I cannot seem to find
a way to make them work in the standard ribbon using Jaws 13, either.

Since we've talked last, I've been trying to use the virtual ribbons. They
do work nicely if a user is willing to give up the keystrokes.

Your suggestion to run a repair made a huge difference. Before the repair,
the behavior of the ribbons was the same regardless whether I had the
virtual ribbon turned on or off. Now I get the virtual ribbon, and it works
differently than how the standard ribbon functions with Jaws 13, just like
it is supposed to do. I still cannot use those time-saving keystrokes with
the Jaws 13 standard ribbon, though. I sure would like to be able to use
the keystrokes instead of hunting around in the ribbon, even the less
cluttered Jaws virtual ribbon.

New email count in Outlook 2010

Hi Everyone,

I have several folders under my inbox that I filter incoming emails to. One
of these folders is older and when I down arrow to the folder JAWS tells me
how many new emails is inside. But I have a new folder that I also send new
emails to but JAWS doesn't say how many new emails are inside when I arrow
down to it. Does anybody know how to turn on this feature on so JAWS will
tell me how many new emails are inside?

Bug in Word 2007 file menu

John ESherrer

Hi Folks

I am using JAWS 12 and I was using Word 2007 in the web view and I went to
the file menu and went to New, and JAWS moved the menu to open. I had
trouble opening the New menu, but was able to do so.

To test another problem I used NVBA and found that the problem did not exit.

Hello,

CPanel is very accessible with later versions of JAWS, assuming you're using
the default CPanel theme (I believe it's called x3). With that theme, no
use of the JAWS cursor is required at all and it behaves like any other
normal webpage. If you're not using that theme, you should be able to switch
to it from within your CPanel interface. If you can't, talk to your web host
about enabling that theme for accessibility reasons. If they won't do so,
consider looking for a new host.

the mouse commands to go between the site, menu, content, component,

not, for one, stay in JAWS cursor mode, because the screen changes as the

I have a PC with iTunes and an iPod touch. I The iPod is accessible, once
you use the menus to turn on voiceover. There are gestures you have to
learn, and they're not the same ones a sighted person would use. If you
connect your iPod to a PC, wired or wireless connection, you can synchronize
what's in your ITunes PC and iTunes, IPod.

The iPod Touch is accessible. I don't know about the others.

Subject: Ipods and jaws

Greetings to all.

My name is Michelle Abadia and I've just subscribed to this list 15
minutes ago!

I use Jaws version 13 on a Dell Inspiron laptop computer with Windows 7.
I've downloaded Itunes into it and all seems well. However, I would like
to know if there are accessible ipods out there and if anyone has manageed
to transfer songs easily with Jaws on the desktop and "Voice over" on the
Ipod? I understand that the 6th Generation Nano has "voice over"? That's
what I've read, at least.

Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated. Any experiences you may
have had will help as well.

Thank you so very much.

Michelle N. Abadia

navigating walmart website for on line payment

Deb and the girls

I was able with difficulty to navigate the on-line walmart site to pay my bill earlier; but, after loading jaws 13, and disabling chocqua flash in internet explorer, I am still not able to get it to display everything.
So I can not redo my password, or look at my online statement or anything.
Is it a question of javascript or whatever that stuff is called?
Deb

Re: how to send a message to JAWS (PostMessage)

Rather than a window message, use the FSApi.dll and the JFWStopSpeech
function. If you look around the FS website you should be able to
find at least a header for the jaws API, possibly an import library
too (though I believe it is recommended that you use run-time dynamic
linking - LoadLibrary/GetProcAddress).

Hello,
My question has todo with programming. Under Windows you can send
messages to an application, e.g. with the PostMessage command.
Can anybody tell me the messagenumber, wich stops the speech output,
as if I had pressed ctrl?
This would be very helpful.
Best Regards
Marco

JAWS 13 works very well (in fact better than JAWS 12) with Office 2007
applications. Suggest you do a repair on JAWS 13.

Thanks, Dave.

My virtual ribbon is unchecked. Truth is, I've tried it both ways and the
ribbon behavior doesn't change. I've even tried making the changes in the
application settings as well as the default. I don't know whether the
ribbon is standard or virtual with the virtual ribbon checked or unchecked.
The behavior is the same, and it sure is not what I'm familiar with. The
ribbon behaves much differently from the way it does in Jaws 12. In fact, I
just tried to use the Outlook 2007 keyboard command, control+r to reply to
you, and it did not work in Jaws 13. I had to go into the ribbon to find
the reply button. Perhaps Jaws 13 won't work well with MS Office 2007?

Settings Center. Ctrl+Shift+d for the default configuration file. Type
"virtual ribbon" in the search field and make sure that the item is
unchecked.

I cannot figure out how to use the standard ribbons in the 2007 MS Office
Suite with Jaws 13 running Windows 7. When I check or uncheck the virtual
ribbon setting in either the settings center or quick settings, I get only
the FS virtual ribbons. How do I assure I get the standard ribbon? Is
there a keystroke to toggle between standard and FS virtual ribbons? Many
thanks in advance!
