Special characters being announced

Hi Everybody,

I was just looking at the special characters under the row of numbers at the
top of my key board and noticed that all the keys are announced when pressed
in combination with the shift key. That is except the star key and the
underline key. Does anybody have the same thing and can this be turned on? I
looked under the keyboard settings and didn't see any where to turn these
on.

A quirk in 13?

Dondi

Hi Everyone,

I just thought I'd let you know what came up today with JAWS 13. For some
reason I don't understand to of my settings had to be turned back on. One
was silencing the tab key. And the other one was in Outlook under reading
options I have "Message header field with message announcement" set to off.
Both of these were turned on for some reason. I have had these turned off
for weeks now and they were turned off after I installed 13 on Monday
January 13. Has anybody had a similar thing happen to them?

To be clear, I am not the only on the block with financial management
programs. Cash manager is a good one, and recently on the list you have seen
an announcement for PeachTree accounting complete. This is also another good
option. Whichever you choose has to be the right one for you. It is a matter
of preference and I am thrilled to bring some options to the table. I'm not
trying to make a huge profit from this. If I can get compensated a little,
that would make it worthwhile.
If you are really into accounting, perhaps PeachTree is the way to go. If
you are a beginner and need a solid program that works without scripts, try
Money Manager. Quickbooks is heavily used in the main stream in businesses
and being able to manage your own company or business is essential to
independence. Quicken is more of a personal finance management program.
These program scripts are not meant to be a solid solution, only a bridge
that can cross the gap until companies start to realize they need to work
with bigger organizations such as the NFB, AFB, and others and making this a
more accessible world.
I'm not competing with anyone, I am certainly making that clear. I just want
more options because when I first started on this path, I was shocked to
find out that a lot was certainly out of our reach. This is my calling and I
choose to stick this out and be of service to others.
Regards,
John Martyn

I might as well announce it but Quickbooks and Quicken scripts are on the
way, however I am not releasing them as of yet.
They are still in testing and development.
The quickbooks scripts are towards the end of development and testing but
quicken is more of a challenge. Quicken uses a lot of graphics and it takes
time to find them all to label them my special way. Quickbooks works
wonderfully with 2011 and development for Quicken 2012 is going good so far.
Quickbooks 2012 is coming soon.
The NFB National Federation of the Blind is participating in this particular
project. I flew out to Baltimore and they were very interested in this new
development. I might be coming under fire for even releasing this
information, but I'm not scared. I have complete faith that what I'm doing
for the blind community is justified and backed up legally.
Besides, wouldn't you all like the option to use such mainstream software
that could even give you more freedom?

Hi,

Not really sure about how to do this in Outlook 2003 but this is how you can
do it in 2010. You can create a anywhere contact by pressing the key
combination of control+shift+C. This will open up a contact dialog box that
you can fill out and do a alt+S to save the info. Another way is to jump to
the contacts by pressing control+3. Amd then pressing control+N for new
contact. Like I said these work in 2010. Sorry I can't be of any more help
then this.
