Re: [Bulk] Jaws acting very strange!

Dave...

Not likely graphics settings.

I presume you've rebooted and it's still the same?

Are you using a laptop? If so, have you made sure that you didn't
accidentally rotate the screen 90 or 180 degrees?

Subject: [Bulk] Jaws acting very strange!

Hello,
I’m using Jaws 11 on a Windows 7 64 bit computer:
First when I’m typing in an edit box like the subject line of an email Jaws
only says “Space” when I backspace. Does this have to do with my graphics
being too high?
Also when I ctrl arrow or alt-tab, sometimes the previous window or word is
read over the current window or word for example the words are:
the man ran.
Jaws says:
The man man.

On Google when I’m in the search box I tab twice and the curser goes over
“Advertising Programs” and Jaws says: “I’m feeling lucky visited link” This
happens when Jaws automatically ends up in the edit field when the Google
page opens.

Please any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,

Brandon Keith Biggs

John,

Presuming that you're viewing messages as html and not as plain text:

If they're embedded you might be able to use Ctrl+shift+o to list objects,
select one, and then when you've landed back in the message, Press
Applications (or Shift+F10) and see if the context menu allows you to
print, view, or save the picture.

Make sure you don't move the cursor after selecting the object and returning

to the message body.

John,

Easiest way is right from the message list.

Press Applications key (or Shift+F10) and arrow down to view attachments.
Then right arrow. Single or multiple attachments are in that list. Enter on
one to "view" or "read". Once you're in the other application you should be
able to save it.

Then repeat for other attachments.

Another method to try:
I'm going to presume that you're not using the virtual ribbon.

From the open message, Alt and then the 1 from the number row should bring
up a dialog to save attachments. Alt + a separate number is part of the
Quick Access Toolbar that comes with the Ribbon.

I'm pretty sure that save attachments is linked to this shortcut.

Another way:
From the message body, Shift tab once and you should land in the attachments
area (before you get to the subject line).

Arrow left and you should hear the attachment name spoken in a higher voice.

Then press the applications key (or Shift+f10) and select save to save the
pictures to your drive.

Jaws 11 and Thunderbird 3.1

Jim L

Heya Folks,

Just been getting around thunderbird 3.1 and find it pritty good and easy to
use, just want some advice where I can get Jaws to read and speak the sender
first rather than the subject line of an email. I checked as much as I can
but can't seem to change the Jaws reading when it says table and says my
emails, subject is always spoken first.

Any help will be appreciated

Cheers,

Jim

Yes, Indeed.
The setting used to be checked by default, and unchecking it improved things greatly.

There was somewhere an option called 'enhance editing' that messed up the way JAWS read word. It was in the configuration settings, but I couldn't even begin to guess where.

Re: Digital Signatures

Amar Jain

Hi Rita,
Unless you have to sign multiple fields, it can be done in word, however, I could not do the same in PDF because even I was unable to use drag and drop.
For word, first you will have to add the option for adding digital signature into one of ribbons by going to file tab, then go to options, and then choose customize ribbon. In the next combo box, choose all commands. Click customize... button. Tab once, to reach to all commands list box. Select add digital signature. Then tab, and give it a shortcut key if you want, then I guess you have to save, then some options like create new tab or something, play with it and click on add>> button. Click ok or something if it is there, and you are done.
Next, simply use the keystroke you assigned, and if not, then go where you have added this option and follow the on screen prompts.
For PDF, there is a page on freedomscientific, but it never worked for me the way they have described. Check it here: http://www.freedomscientific.com/doccenter/archives/DigitalSignaturesPDF/DigitalSignaturesInPDFWithJAWS.htm
Do let me know if anyone of you have any working solution!
Regards
Amar Jain.
