Douglas, in all sincerity, would you do the list the favor in the future
of
looking up these expressions yourself? Just putting an acronym or
expression
like this in the google search edit field brings up the answer. This
off-topic query has so far generated more than a dozen even more off-topic
posts.

Amazing. Everyone is agreed that BBC is British Broadcasting Corporation

In fact, the Windows key is employed with a number of fantastic JAWS
keystrokes. One which I have come to use on an hourly basis is control plus
windows plus k to mark a spot in a word document.
One may later jump back to that spot instantly with just windows plus k;
however, even more cool is the ability, in Word, to mark text from your
cursor to the marked spot, and it doesn't matter whether, in the document,
your cursor is ahead of the marked spot or behind it or whether it is 4
words or 40 pages away. You mark text back to the marked spot with JAWS key
plus space bar and then m.
Then, you can use control c to copy or control x to cut or windows c to
append.
Try it! You'll like it!

As a matter of fact, that did work. In the past I have tried to copy
things to the clipboard after having previously done so and I was
warned that it would overwrite what I already had there. Just now,
though, I copied a line with control+c and then did the same thing
with the Windows key using noncontiguous text and tested it by using
control+v to put it into Wordpad. It did copy. This turns out to be
handy to know. I could have used this bit of knowledge a long time ago.

hotkeys for a word or text document are control+a to select all the text or
control+s to save your document

or control+o to open a document or application. If you wish to delete
information in a document control+d will activate this action. If this is
what you are looking for let me know and I'll be glad your more hotkeys for

HI Dondi,

Here is a list of the mostly used text selection keystrokes.

Selecting / Highlighing text

Selecting a letter/character; Shift +left arrow selects prior character.
Shift + right arrow selects next character.

Selecting prior word; Insert/Jaws key, shift + left arrow or control,
shift, + left arrow.

Selecting next word; Insert/Jaws key, shift, + right arrow or control,
shift, + right arrow.

Selecting text from cursor to beginning of line; Shift + Home/7 key on
number pad.

Selecting text from cursor to end of line; Shift +End/1 on the number
pad.

Selecting text from cursor to the end of a document; Control, shift, +
end/1 key on the number pad.

Selecting text from cursor to the beginning of a document; Control,
shift,
+ home/7 key on the number pad.

Selecting more than 1 line of text; Hold the Shift key down while
arrowing
up or down until you have selected/highlighted the lines you want.

Selecting all text; Control + A. This keystroke will select all the text
in a document no matter the size or length of the document.

to select a page at a time: shift page up or down

If any of these are incorrect, someone please correct me or, if there are
more that can be added, someone please do so. Take care.
Mike

Okay, I'll consider that. Sorry everyone for the hassle. By the way, after a long string or thread of replies and the subject line changes, why is "was" inserted before the original subject line?

Yes, saw this on the BBC and I can imagine it will affect many English
JAWS users who rely on Wikipedia for their leisure.

OK. I contend this isn't off-topic. People who use the Research-it

in for a surprise, and it isn't Freedom Scientific's fault.
This only applies to the English version, but the Board of Directors of
Wikipedia elected to take the English version off-line on January 18 to
protest certain pending legislation in the United States Congress --
statutes aimed at strengthening intellectual property rights and
preventing privacy.
I won't get into the politics. I just thought I'd send out the alert.
I don't know how the shut-down will be implemented, i.e., whether there
will be a message that pops up or whether it will just be temporarily
unreachable by browsers. I suspect it is the former, but who knows?

LMAO has been an accronym online meaing laughing my ass off, for at
least a decade. It's not as common as say, lol for laughing out
loud, but it is used sometimes. Anyway, just add an F to lmao and
you can figure it out *grin*.

www.urbandictionary.com is usually a great resource for such slang,
and may keep you intertained, amused and disgusted for hours.
