Re: Using Microsoft Teams with JAWS
David Goldfield
Hello. First, I can tell you that Teams is very accessible with JAWS even without additional scripts. Doug Lee has written some scripts for Teams, which you can find from www.dlee.org. I have started a list dealing with Teams accessibility related issues. To join, send email to teams-access+subscribe@groups.io

I turn it off, always, as I never want e-mail messages involved in a Windows Search, just like I don't want web results in a Windows Search. If I want either of those things I go to the email/webmail client or web browser and do them there. When I just checked Outlook was checked and I don’t recall ever doing this so it may very well be included in search by default. On the other hand, I noticed that my Local Drive was unchecked, not sure why this is, but I did check it and when I check file types like Word, TXT and so on they all had content included by default.

You'll be back at the Indexing Options dialog. After that I would also recommend rebuilding the index immediately. You do this by activating the Advanced button then in the Advanced Options dialog navigating to the Rebuild button and activating it. You will then get a warning dialog that the rebuild can take a long time to complete (which is true) and that your search results will be incomplete until it does with an OK or Cancel option. You'll OK it. In my case it took seconds because I had not changed anything to be indexed, but when you add locations it will toss out the entire existing index and rebuild it from scratch. You need not do this if you don't want to, as it will eventually occur "naturally" but I like to force it so that I know it has completed and I can expect that the new location(s) I've added to the index should now show up when I do a Windows Search. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Tolerance is the positive and cordial effort to understand another's beliefs, practices, and habits without necessarily sharing or accepting them. ~ Joshua Liebman

We have outlook already installed. How would we make it a part of the windows search? I also took your advice and joined the windows 10 list.

turning off UI numbers in JAWS
Ann Byrne
As I read through a document, JAWS repeats a number of how many lines out of how many. This is not in a list, just a doc. Each line is followed by this information. It might be 365 of 530. I don't want to hear it. Somewhere there is a control for UI, related to Office 365 that will turn this off. Can someone please tell me where?
Thx

Aira is absolutely perfect for this. Once your vm is installed and
boots from the hard disk, you should be able to boot it and if you set the advanced desktop preferences so you get sound, jaws should work -- I have not tried this myself, but it would be a good experiment. Another keystroke you can use is, Windows key + up
arrow, to maximize a window.

Try checking that the window is maximized by pressing alt+space bar and arrowing up to Maximize. If it is not available, then it is already maximized and that won't help.

JAWS is doing some strange things
Shirley Tracy
Hi Listers,
I’ve been using Windows Mail, importing Gmail into it. I am running windows ten and JAWS 2020 Home use. For the past couple of weeks, the messages in my inbox open and but JAWS sits on the message without reading it. Here’s the funny part: If I unload JAWS and bring it back up, it will read the message. Today, I found I had to unload JAWS in order to be able to read something in Word. What can I do to fix this? I shouldn’t have to keep unloading JAWS.

Re: mp3 editor to word
I actually played with the free trial of Transcribear's online automated transcription using an MP4 file I recorded of a brief sewing lesson. They will give you a free trial of 20 minutes of automated transcription, which can be used only to do 2 minute stretches at a time, but it allows it on as many files as you want, so you can try all sorts of different quality recordings to see how it will do.
I can't speak to accessibility, but the transcription quality seems to be quite good, if not perfect, if the audio is even adequate. 9 hours of paid transcription would come to $33 USD, its 3 GBP per hour for 1 through 9 hours, and the credits last for 3 months. The more hours you need the cheaper they get, but the drop is not astronomical as the expense is minimal to begin with. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Tolerance is the positive and cordial effort to understand another's beliefs, practices, and habits without necessarily sharing or accepting them. ~ Joshua Liebman

The statement from Mr. Mosen was that the whole book is free, and multiple people have downloaded it.
See the webpage, https://mosen.org/zoom/ Find the link "Download Meet Me Accessibly Free" to snag the ZIP file of the audio book, which contains 18 units as well as the entire book as one audio file. Also see the link, "Download the Free JAWS Scripts," which were produced for Zoom by Hartgen Consultancy. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Tolerance is the positive and cordial effort to understand another's beliefs, practices, and habits without necessarily sharing or accepting them. ~ Joshua Liebman
