Gary,

When things are working properly, you can press Spacebar or Enter on
a link
in an open message in Outlook, just the same as with a web page. Omar's
problem is that it's not working now.

Omar, possible that you did change something with the install of
2010 and
subsequent rollback to 2003. Restore is not a panacea for all things
that
might have changed. How about if you now do a repair on your Outlook
2003
installation?

Omar,
In Internet Explorer or Firefox, and even in Microsoft Word when
links are
embedded in a document, you bring up a list of links with JAWS Key
plus F7.
You should be able to do the same in Outlook. I don't use Outlook,
so I
can't test this method of accessing links in that program.

Fortunately, there is a solution, which someone who rarely posts
to the
list
told me off-list. When you land on the link, arrow one character
to the
right. For example, if the link begins, "http...," arrow to the
letter

the "h." Then press enter.

Actually, you can make the link work from any point in the address
except
the first letter.

They're free, they're excellent, and they come with some guides on how to

Anyway, the process generally goes like this:
1. create new playlist.
2. find things in your library and
3. copy them to the new playlist.
4. make sure the playlist is set to be synched up with your iPod.

Hi all,

Just wondering how I get full screen player back in iTunes using jaws?

I managed to turn it off, leaving me with the mini player, but I can't get
it back now.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling jaws, but when I did this, I got
the same mini player.

I tried restoring to an earlier time before I turned the full screen player
off, then starting iTunes again, there was an error, so I repaired it.

Still the mini player.

Also, I can't get it to download purchases that I have already bought onto
the laptop, even after I have authorised it with ITunes.

I'm running Jaws 10, can go up to jaws 12, iTunes 10 and windows vista 32
bit.

Thanks in advance for any info anyone can provide.

Gary,

When things are working properly, you can press Spacebar or Enter on a link
in an open message in Outlook, just the same as with a web page. Omar's
problem is that it's not working now.

Omar, possible that you did change something with the install of 2010 and
subsequent rollback to 2003. Restore is not a panacea for all things that
might have changed. How about if you now do a repair on your Outlook 2003
installation?

Omar,
In Internet Explorer or Firefox, and even in Microsoft Word when links are
embedded in a document, you bring up a list of links with JAWS Key plus F7.
You should be able to do the same in Outlook. I don't use Outlook, so I
can't test this method of accessing links in that program.

Have you tried bringing up a list of the links like you would in a

and can be accessed by pressing Enter.

I just tried clicking on a link in outlook with the jaws cursor, and

Omar,

Fortunately, there is a solution, which someone who rarely posts to the
list
told me off-list. When you land on the link, arrow one character to the
right. For example, if the link begins, "http...," arrow to the letter
after
the "h." Then press enter.

Actually, you can make the link work from any point in the address
except
the first letter.

click on

Re: Links won't open in outlook 2003

Roger Loran Bailey <rogerbailey81@...>

Okay, I know that what works in Thunderbird does not necessarily apply to Outlook, but it might be worth a try. Remember when I was asking on this list about the problem I had with Windows Live and how it crashed and I couldn't get it uncrashed? One kind person on this list sent me a link to download Thunderbird and I have been using it ever since.
At first the links inside the emails would not work for me. Since it did not seem to be very related to JAWS I tried to get help from the Bookshare Discuss list and everything they advised me to do did not work. Then one day I opened up Thunderbird and got a notification that an update was available for it. I installed that update and the links started working. I thought I had solved the problem. Apparently that did not do it because the next time I opened up Thunderbird the links were not working again. Now I think that instead of the update solving my problem it was the fact that while updating I closed the program and opened it again. When it stopped working that next time I opened it I ended up closing it and restarting it out of frustration and then the links worked. The next time after that the links did not work again. I closed the program and opened it again and they worked. Now, every time I do my first check of email in the morning I open Thunderbird and promptly close it. I have not had that problem of the links not working since. I have no idea why this works and I don't know that it will work in Outlook, but it shouldn't hurt to try it.

Hi Tom,

To get to the Windows 7 sound mixer directly, do the following.

Hit the windows key.

In the search field, type the following.

Sndvol and hit enter.

You will be in the sound mixer dialog box where you can control all sound sources.

Tom:
Let's try the following.
1. open up word
2. alt f = back stage
3. up arrow and enter on options
4. Press "A" until you arrive to advance
5. It will be quicker if you shift-tab until you get to provide sound with
feedback and check that box.
6. tab to ok and press space bar.
The sounds should work now in outlook 2010. If you do not have the sound
pack for office let's hope this dropbox link will go through.

Thank you!

Tables are a b***ch. Some don't read worth a darn if they are not an even
set of rows and columns.

I've found the best is to do a say all at the top of the message and let it
read. Sometimes one or more of the table cells will repeat a few time, and I
suspect this is due to inconsistent numbers of rows or columns being
encountered.

Hi.
I am using Outlook 2010, but I am sure it would be the same in outlook 2007.
When you hit enter on a message that has weird tables, if you keep
listening, Jaws will tell you to hit alt H, then A, then V.
What this does is lets you read the message in your browser.
I find that this does not always work, so what I do is:
Go to the message tab and arrow down until you find Move.
Hit enter, then arrow down and find Actions.
Hit enter and arrow down until you find view in browser.
Hope this helps.
Eric.

Fortunately, there is a solution, which someone who rarely posts to the

told me off-list. When you land on the link, arrow one character to the
right. For example, if the link begins, "http...," arrow to the letter

Actually, you can make the link work from any point in the address

Re: nonuniform tables in Word

Dave...

Non-Uniform Tables are very difficult to work with. I suggest you
linearalize them by the following in MS-Word:

1. Place the cursor somewhere in the table.
2. Alt+a, then c then t
This highlights the table
3. Alt+A, v then b
This opens a Convert table to text dialog.
4. Accept the defaults and press enter on Ok

Now your table has been converted to text, and no longer rows/columns. This
may, or may not help in understanding the organization of the table, but it
does help in making sure you get at all the text in there.

Another approach is to use Excel.

1. Cursor in the table.
2. Alt+a, then c and t
Highlights the entire table.
3. Ctrl+c to copy.
4. Open Excel.
5. Ctrl+V to paste.

See if that helps.

Subject: nonuniform tables in Word

I'm using Jaws 13 and Word 2003. I have a Word document whose contents is a
9-page nonuniform table. When I try and use the commands of alt-windows and
arrow keys, it tells me that I can not read rows and columns because the
table is nonuniform with different numbers of columns in the rows.

I tried turning table detection off, but I can't seem to follow the layout.
If I use the down arrow key to read, then pressing up arrow will sometimes
read me material I haven't heard before. I'm finding this document very
confusing, and I don't know if it is because table handling has changed, or
if it is the document itself.

So, how can I read this document? I'm struggling because the Jaws commands
are somewhat different than my old Jaws 8, which I just recently migrated
from.

Any tips would be appreciated on this.

Geri,

Yes, you should be able to. Did the second playlist get created in the same
area of the search list as the first one? If so, you again highlight your
iPod or iPhone, tab to the music checkbox and check it, then tab to a Sync
or Apply button and press spacebar, then wait for the sync signal to chime.

Re: Links won't open in outlook 2003

Omar,

Try this. Go to tools with alt-t, then options with o.

You will land on the preferences page, though JAWS doesn't verbalize it. If
you want JAWS to give you verbal confirmation, press shift+control+tab once,
then control+tab once. JAWS should then say, "Preferences."

Now tab once to "Email preferences," which is a button. Press the spacebar.

Now tab several times to the checkbox "Read all standard email in text
only." Make sure it is unchecked.

Once that's done, tab several times to the okay" button for email options,
which will take you back into the preferences page. You need to press the
okay button here as well. In this case, it will go faster if you press
shift+tab until you find it.

browser? If JFW recognizes the links, then they should appear in
the list and can be accessed by pressing Enter.

I just tried clicking on a link in outlook with the jaws cursor,
and that worked, but it really shouldn't be that way. We should be
able to click on it with the regular cursor.

Dave,

Yes, jaws does say "link." I think the messages are plain text.

Omar,

Do you hear the word "link" when you arrow to that URL? If not,
then it's not a real link. Something may be wrong, like an
embedded character that doesn't show.

Also, are these messages plain text or html?

Hi Adrien,

I just tried that, and no go.

Omar,

Fortunately, there is a solution, which someone who rarely posts
to the list told me off-list. When you land on the link, arrow
one character to the right. For example, if the link begins,
"http...," arrow to the letter after the "h." Then press enter.

Actually, you can make the link work from any point in the
address except the first letter.

Subject: Links won't open in outlook 2003

Hello,

I'm using Outlook 2003 to check my emails. For some reason, when
I click on a link that someone sends me, or a link that I cut and
paste for someone else, it won't open. I get no error messages
either. The link just doesn't open. Is there something in outlook
that I need to change? If I get an email from ebay or facebook,
for example, with links present in them, I can click on those
links with no problem. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
