Good info, and rather than "suggest" that it be downloaded and save to the hard drive I would suggest "crazy not to save to the hard drive" as a more appropriate phrase. Many times I've installed the newest update and found that it broke more than it fixed. Then since I always, always, always save every version on my hard drive, I am able to uninstall the offending piece of cruddy version and install the previous version and wait for the possibly-better version some time later. Re: JAWS 13 and Excel
Dave...
Yes, the fix is that you have to assign new keystrokes to those scripts.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
They changed the keystroke to something involving table mode. Look in the Keyboard Manager for Excel and you will see those new keystrokes. If you don't like them like I didn't like them then you can change them back to what they once were, like I did. I also reassigned the keystrokes to read the row headers. Just something FS did to "help" us but really "hindered" us, in my opinion. They could easily have provided two sets of keys to these scripts. BTW I assigned Ctrl+Shift+1, 2, 3, 4 for the Column headers and Alt+Ctrl+1, 2, 3, 4 to the Row headers. This was to avoid conflict with the Quick Access Tools that I always use, that are Alt+1, 2, 3, etc. Dave Carlson Sent from my Dell Latitude E6520 using Windows 7, San Francisco Bay Area

Re: sharing documents via Facebook?
Amar Jain
Hi Adrian,
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
You rightly observed, my problem is not related to Jaws. Well, on a business page, I want to share some legal articles with my clients, and I want them to give the ability to view that document in browser itself just by clicking on the direct link which I share on facebook. I could have even gone with Google Docs, but firstly I will need to take approval, and secondly at times if you use google docs’s own viewer, it creates formatting problems. One of the applications which I tried was docs.com, and it worked fine on the fake page which I created, but not on the business page for some reason. It uploads and posts the link on the business page, but when you try viewing it, it gives you an error saying word web cannot open the file, it was terminated, it encountered an error and open the file directly in MS word. (Sorry, don’t have exact text at the moment) Written to the developers, but as one may expect, no response. Checked the apps and websites settings, but couldn’t spot the cause of the problem. No information is available on google. If nothing works, then only the possibility which will be time-consuming is to create your own application using PHP or something, and use it on your own server. Despite the fact I keep playing with IT related things, but since this is not my profession, I can’t be as quick as I need to be. Coming back to GDocs, I was much happy with old google docs which was though less accessible, but was usable with IE. This one, is not usable with IE as easily as its predecessor. Specially upload and create functions. One has to use firefox that too upload I couldn’t use easily. Even after uploading, I didn’t figure out how and where to give a title so that link appears properly in the emails etc. Appreciate you for trying to help me out. Regards, Amar Jain. Re: Copying text from a web page
Matthew Horspool <mhorspool@...>
Hi Adrian,
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Yes, you're right, and I probably should have made that a bit clearer. Ideally I'd like to leave well alone and have all formatting copied over. However, I sometimes end up in a situation where this method simply doesn't work - I select the text, copy it, paste it and some or all of it isn't there. I then have to go back to the webpage and try again, and even then it sometimes hasn't caught everything. It's come to selecting the entire web page and trimming in the destination document on more than one occasion, and this just isn't productive for me. In short, my point here is that I'm only changing the setting because it seems to be the only reliable way of catching all the text all the time. If the new default method could guarantee me that quality of functionality, I'd switch back in a heartbeat! Hope that clears up my position. Matthew
-----Original Message-----
From: jfw-bounces@lists.the-jdh.com [mailto:jfw-bounces@lists.the-jdh.com] On Behalf Of Adrian Spratt Sent: 14 November 2011 19:26 To: 'The Jaws for Windows support list.' Subject: RE: Copying text from a web page Matthew, I've finally been thinking through these copying methods. As you say, the current JAWS default is to copy with all codes, links, etc. included. The method you and others describe makes the default an unformatted copy of the text so that you can paste text into a document without messing up the document's existing format. I now see that the method described by Mike, of Mike and Barbara, keeps the current JAWS default for those who prefer it but enables users to paste unformatted text into a document in specific situations. When I copy something from the Internet into an email message, I like to retain links, etc., for the benefit of the recipient. That's the JAWS default. If I want to keep it my default, Mike's method would give me flexibility. Here again is what he posted: Try the following to remove html formatting from source material copied from web based resources. 1. Highlight the text you want to copy. 2. Copy it to the windows clipboard with CTRL+C. 3. Return to your open document. 4. When you get to the place you want to insert your copied material press alt+E. 5. Up-arrow until you hear Jaws say "paste special...." 6. Press enter and up-arrow until you hear Jaws say "paste as unformatted text" and press enter. This will remove all of the HTML formatting from your copied material and insert it into your document. Be advised that your cursor will be at the bottom of the inserted material and you will need to use the appropriate reading commands to get to the beginning of your text. I use the above steps with XP, Word 2002, & all versions of Jaws. I haven't tried it on my Windows7 system, yet!
