I noticed this too. Today was the first time I really tried to select
anything. It does seem to work with .rtf files ok, but it definitely
doesn't work with .docx files.

adobie SVG Viewer

Hello All:

I'm on a web site that gives me a download link for adobie svg viewer.
The page says I need it to view a "interactive" map.
Will Jaws 12 work with the adobie svg viewer?

Thanks.

Hi Ann. I agree with your first point. I also find this very frustrating
and annoying. I really do wish jaws wouldn't read the screen or part of the

screen that was just left. It is confusing. And yes I think jaws is lying
too.

I just installed jaws 13. Hope it isn't lying too.

I have not found any control in jaws that has an effect on the behavior. In

older screen readers. For instance, ASAP, you could adjust the text out
delay. I thought that would work in jaws but it doesn't seem to help.

Your second point about dates, I've seen that happen to but I'm not sure
which formats cause that to happen. Could you give some examples. Please?

Maybe I'm just getting cranky---a definite possibility--but I find myself
saying more and more often to my students, "JAWS is lying to you."

1. When opening a new document or application, JAWS often rereads the
previous screen before reading the screen it just opened. To a newby,
this is way confusing.

2. When reading dates, JAWS speaks a 'th' or 'st' or 'rd' after the date,
even though it isn't there. It is important to me to know what I wrote,
not what JAWS thinks I want to hear.

3. When working with an outline in Word 2010, JAWS often but not
consistently reports the line I just pressed enter on, and not the new
line with the outline number. So when I'm planning a party--my favorite
outline--it says "2. send invitations' and not '3', which is where the
cursor is.

I don't think I'm imagining this. Is anyone else having these kinds of
issues???

thanks.

Ann

My student tracks the dates he attended class so he can be reimbursed for transportation. He attended on September twelfth. JAWS called it "September first-something (I don't remember the second number).
Also, September two zero, 2011, is spoken "September 20th", despite there being no 'th'. And when I wrote two zero in numbers with a space between to illustrate this point, JAWS spoke it as 'second zero'. that's why I spelled the numbers out.

Hello I wonder if you can describe the role of the buffer pleas I once
tried some good clear English speaking voices on my ocr, they actually came
with a version of jaws but we could use them with our ocr., I would use one
called Daniel it said 22 hertz after it, anyway Daniel, not to be confused
with jaws British English This Daniel was a real belter, and would not be
paused once he got going. A friend said most likely the buffer is not
emptying, he said the buffer was like afunnel so example you are pouring
water into the top of the funnel before it has time to run out at the end
The person who toldme that was totally blind and is the man who made all his
own computers by the way Is that a fair explanation? dorothy-----Original

Your first point, JFW reading some part of a previous screen, I've thought
of as the "flush" problem - it's very annoying. I've noticed it only
sometime in the last few versions.
It seems there's a buffer that isn't being reset as JFW switches between
environments.

Re: [Bulk] free windows file or folder comparison software?

Ann Marie Medlar <amedlar1@...>

Good morning all,
Today on GiveAwayOfTheDay there is folder software (pasted below) which I
downloaded, installed
and registered for free. I am struggling to run it using Jaws so I am
hoping that you know some free utilities to compare files, folders using
Jaws and Windows XP Pro?
Thanks,
Ann

Re: [Bulk] Using JAWS with Google Chrome

Fs would tell you it isn't yet compatible, that they have done nothing to
make it so. But in reality it is very useable.
You do get buttons (at times) which are not accurately labelled, but I don't
feel I'm missing out on content by using Chrome with J12/13 Beta.

I don't think it is compatible. Check with FS on Monday and see what they
have to say.

I am being prompted to upgrade to Google Chrome, which Google says is a
faster search engine. Before I do, I want to find out if Google Chrome is
compatible with JAWS 12. I don't want to upgrade to it if it isn't.

It is not compatible. According to my son who says there are graphics that
would interfere with JAWS.

JAWS with Family Tree Maker

Paul Bolduc

Good morning,

Is there anybody using FTM with JAWS? I have version 9 and do not know
which version of FTM. I am considering buying the latest version of FTM,
but wish to know if it's compatible with JAWS 9.

I also would appreciate any help in getting started, not with my family tree
as I only plan to add to it since I have a file that goes back to the 1500's
with authentication papers to back it up.

Thank you,

Have a great day,

Paul Bolduc
