Addison:

When Windows starts, do they hear the Windows start up tune?

If not, it is possible that either the speaker output plug has been disconnected from its socket jack or, the system audio output has been muted.

I have always believed in the dog wagging the tail, not the other way round. And, having such a piece of software such as you are looking for, would be such a tool for us to use, then we would not be the tail trying to wag the dog, in order for us to keep up with our sighted peers.

By the way, have you tried looking at a citation page produced by one of your student colleagues on your computer using JAWS, to see if you can use it as a template for your own citation pages?

Chris,

NO, I didn't take it that way at all. It is just nice to have something (a
tool) to use that would make the job just a tad easier. I think all students
should know the basic format of creating a citation for their papers, but
tools to make it easier is always nice.

Peace,

Re: Title Bar or header to Silence

Dave...

Paul,

Suggest you go into the verbosity settings in the configuration manager.
There you will find your verbosity level and the ability to modify specific
aspects of it. In the modification list, you will find areas that enable or
disable the window title, etc. I think playing around with these setting
should help.

BTW you can stop the "compatibility mode" by saving your work as an xlsx
file (Excel 2007). Then it won't say that part when you open it again.

First, I couldn't even get to the site, but figured out it's because you didn't capitalize the words Instant and Recharge. Anyway, I get both buttons in both browsers. I don't know what's wrong with yours. This is a longshot, but do you have Flash installed for Firefox. You need a different Flash for Firefox than for IE.

Hi,

Here is the link:

http://myservices.relianceada.com/captureinstantrecharge.do

This is a site for online recharge. In the first screen it asks for a
10 digit Reliance No (one of the cell providers) and the email ID of
the person who is recharging for sending the receipt. When you use
Internet Explorer, you get a "confirm" and "cancel" graphical buttons.
Please do let me know if I have made some settings wrong.

O. Addison,

Well, we're all glad to have provided you help in this. Basic rule to always

JAWS 13 Public Beta 2 Released

Gerald Levy

According to Eric Damery of FS, JAWS 13 public beta 2 has been released. Below is a summary of updates and changes:

All,

Below is the list of changes that have occurred as a result of feedback
over the past few weeks. If you have JAWS 13 public beta 1 installed,
the next time you restart JAWS 13, it should alert you that the update
is now available. Work is continuing and we expect the next update for
you within 3 weeks.

Regards,

Eric Damery

Enhancements in JAWS 13.0.171 (September 26, 2011)

The following is a list of improvements made between JAWS 13.0.97,
public beta 1, and 13.0.171, public beta 2. Note that while many
customer reported enhancements are included in this release, the
following is a list of more notable changes.

JAWS

* Added three new keystrokes to the Table layer (INSERT+SPACEBAR,
T). They are ALT+COMMA to read the current cell, WINDOWS KEY+COMMA to
read the current row, and WINDOWS KEY+PERIOD to read the current column.
* JAWS now announces links in the Results Viewer when navigating
using TAB or SHIFT+TAB.
* Resolved an issue with the Amazon Product Search ResearchIt
lookup source not returning any results.
* Addressed an issue of no speech on the Windows logon screen if a
Handy Tech braille display was connected.
* You can now press H in addition to QUESTION MARK from within a
layer to get help on layered keystrokes. For example, INSERT+SPACEBAR,
O, H will list the keystrokes in the OCR layer. This addresses issues
encountered using QUESTION MARK on non-English keyboards.
* Updated the JAWS help with new topics for the Convenient OCR
feature.
* Resolved an issue in Settings Center where the search was being
cleared after pressing CTRL+SHIFT+D to open Default.
* Addressed a reported issue where JAWS would speak dollar
amounts, such as $27.19, as a combination of pairs and single digits
even with Number Processing set to Single Digits.
* Added access keys for the OK and Cancel buttons in all JAWS
place marker dialog boxes.
* When pressing UP or DOWN ARROW on the Display Placemarkers For
group of radio buttons, addressed an issue where focus would move to the
next or previous control instead of remaining on the selected option.
* Resolved an issue using JAWS with the Event Viewer in Windows
XP.
* Resolved an issue selecting text using the SHIFT+CURSOR ROUTER
buttons on Focus braille displays.
* Improved skim reading a document when using the Attributes and
Color Rules Apply for Reading option.
* Resolved an issue in Settings Center where the location in the
tree view was lost when switching to another application then back to
Settings Center.
* The custom placemarker summary is now displayed in the Results
Viewer as expected.
* Resolved an issue in the Modify Voice Alias dialog box where
JAWS was not speaking the names of the Pitch and Rate slider controls
when modifying the OCR Voice alias.
* Addressed a reported issue selecting the laptop keyboard layout
using the Startup Wizard.

Quick Settings

* In Windows 7, after you press the APPLICATIONS key on an item in
the tree view to open the context menu to change the persistence level,
resolved an issue where the braille display would only show the first
item in the menu even though JAWS would speak the other options as you

Cider? You have been at the bottle I see, I am sure it will be sorted,
meanwhile I had mad ringing before 8 am today, and a hospital driver was
there to take me to local hospital for surgery, since I have no appointments
till next week I ask which department? She said zone 1, well since all are
now taken to zone 1, it can be any of 3 departments, sorry to be in a
tizzy, but it always happens. However on the Plus side I put computer on and
listened quietly and Jaws had no complaints! I wish you luck but remember
about the change of thumb print fs has detected something suspiscious I bet
dorothy.

person to go on the webs to download jaws 7 since she don't know where the

7, which cd or version would have the 20 digit number, fs most likely will
know. I am using Jaws 12,but my 20 or is it longer number is actually on
the cd for Jaws 7, it needs to be noted and kept elsewhere. Odd it worked
a
day ago, that is why I thought of system restore.Seems to me you have
nothing to lose by trying it anyway, can't you help her to download
another
spare speech engine? You know the free one I mean I am sure dorothy
