Really? Those programs have access to the proprietary JAWS synthesizers?
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Windows does not show those synthesizers, since generally outside programs do not have access to them. There used to be an Italian program that gave access to JAWS synthesizers and allowed for creating mp3 files, but I can't remember the name and don't know if it works on windoes7. Dean

Adobe Reader X
Bergen, Eric <Eric.Bergen@...>
Hello.
They have just upgraded me at work to Adobe Reader X from Adobe Reader 9. Now when I load a document, I can't read anything. When I do a down arrow it just says blank. It is not an OCR thing since I could read the same document with Adobe Reader 9. Any ideas if there are particular settings under preferences that I need to set in order for me to be able to read .PDF documents? I am using Jaws 12.1169. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Eric. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: <http://lists.the-jdh.com/pipermail/jfw_lists.the-jdh.com/attachments/20111006/474a125b/attachment.html>

Jaws 11 squishes everything together on screen
Samara Raine <samararaine@...>
Is it just me, or does Jaws 11 squish everything together on the screen. For example, on m.facebook.com, there are no blank lines between posts and such. The entire wall (or main page, depending on whether or not you're logged in) is all one huge block of text. Is there a way to edit this? To get jaws to show the blank lines that I know are there? Jaws 10 did it just fine.

Re: What to do about XP machines
Tom Lange
Hi,
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I'll chime in on this one. I use JAWS 12 build 1170 on my XP Pro box here at home and it's working fine for me. It's very stable. Are there quirks? Oh yeah, definitely, but I can live with them; none of them are showstoppers by any means. I've still got Office 2003 on this one and it works okay with version 12, too. My laptop and the machines that I use in the lab at work are all running Windows 7 with either Office 2007 or Office 2010, and I see odd behaviors that are more serious. For example, In Word, if I switch to the JAWS cursor while in a document, I can't use normal reading commands; the JAWS cursor just doesn't track right. I haven't nailed down why that's happening, but let me tell you, when I'm trying to show a student the differences between how the PC and JAWS cursors are supposed to act, that kind of weird behavior is hard to explain away other than to say that it's just some sort of mysterious JAWS fluke, and that's not cool. Anybody got an answer to that one? Tech support sure didn't. Hmmm. Tom .
