I cannot simply read the entire line, but must cursor around, requiring
several keystrokes, rather than just one. Attempts to read by line give

It's what happens when you invoke a screen saver. As we deal with
sensitive data, we do an alt-ctrl-delete when we walk away; I guess I
should have used the word "lock" to describe the function.

Re: reference function of Excel

Dave...

Scott,

You do not need a script to read it. I have no problems reading reference
text, and have been able to do so several JAWS versions back.

I think your problem is that you need to set JAWS to read formulas, or to
make sure that you are reading the formula bar in the Excel options.

This is a setup problem with your Excel and not a limitation of JAWS.

There is no JAWS keystroke involved in reading that text. If you can read
the text on sheet1 with JAWS you should still be able to read the reference
text on sheet2. I think you need to enable reading formulas in JAWS to read
formulas.

Dear friends,

I am using jaws 12 and Excel 2003. When I use function of reference, I want
to read the texts appear on screen.

For example, in sheet1, cell b3 the text inside is “address”. I want the
text in cell b3 of sheet1 appears at cell f5 of sheet 2.
At cell f5, I type equal sign = then press ctrl+page up to sheet1. Then I
move arrow to b3. Jaws says sheet1!b3 but doesn’t say the text “address” in
b3. At that time, the text of sheet1 appears on cell f5 of sheet2. I can
read the text by invisible cursor.
My question is that if there is a keystroke for saying the text

After I sent this, I began to notice other problems, including the
reading of "Not Selected," something that I know was fixed in this
build. Moving around other apps showed other bizarre behavior,
especially with JAWS cursor. Most areas were blank. Before going into
full-scale panic, I decided to freeze the screen, as though I were going
on break, and then come right back in-all problems disappeared!

This is new, and I figured I'd run it past you guys before calling IT
again! In looking at the various fields in 2007 (to, from, CC, Subject)
I cannot simply read the entire line, but must cursor around, requiring
several keystrokes, rather than just one. Attempts to read by line give
me only "blank"s. I'm using JFW, latest build, and win 7. As I said,
this is a new problem, and it applies to both read messages, and
messages I compose. The summaries look fine; problems begin when I
open.

Re: reference function of Excel

Dave...

There is no JAWS keystroke involved in reading that text. If you can read
the text on sheet1 with JAWS you should still be able to read the reference
text on sheet2. I think you need to enable reading formulas in JAWS to read
formulas.

Subject: reference function of Excel

Thank you very much and Best luck

Re: clear personalized web settings

Adrian Spratt

Bob,

The former personalized settings function either doesn't apply to JAWS 13 or
works differently. As you know, to personalize settings in the JAWS
adjustment dialogue, you used to add shift to the command.

However, JAWS automatically provides settings that are personal, or more
accurately specific, to individual Web pages. For example, it used to be
that when you entered a search term in the JAWS find function, it was
remembered as the default wherever you were on the Internet until you typed
in a new search term. Now when you type a search term in IE (I haven't used
Firefox enough to be sure), it is remembered only for the page you're on and
other pages in the same domain. This is true even days and many reboots
later.

Which personalized settings do you want to undo? I'm curious how you're
experiencing them in JAWS 13.

How do I do this in Jaws 13? I don't see a clear settings control like
they used to have. I guess I have to delete the .jsi file in
PersonalizedSettings folder, but Jaws help doesn't say.

Hello,
I'm not the user of JAWS. Some of my customers use your product.
I'm a Delphi programmer (I'm using Delphi 5).

I would like to know how Jaws works with the programms written in Delphi 5. What are advices for programmers? Does Jaws speak hints for controls, labels, images, non-standard components? Please send me the example of Delphi project that you're recommending to use.

Many thanks in advance.

Re: Jaws stops talking after clicking some links

Dave...

Happens to me all the time. Usually JAWS will come back after taking a
breather for 20 to 40 seconds. Hang in there next time, and see if it does
come back on its own. I have no idea why it does this, but it does this 2 to
3 times during any given working day, and not only with Internet Explorer.
and so randomly that I can't possibly reproduce it for FS.

Jaws 13 sometimes stops talking when I click a link in IE8. I am able to
start Narrator but am not able to navigate my computer. But, when I press
the power button to shut down, Jaws starts talking. Weird.

Haven't reproduced this yet.
