Hi Chris and all.

I tried the "control plus shift plus" d to download default settings and made sure I was setting options for all contexts.
No go.

Thanks.

From within the Settings Center, press CONTROL+SHIFT+D to load
default settings.

Did you do it for the default configuration or just one app?

One work around you might consider is to use the JAWS Dictionary Manager to
assign a space for each punctuation mark you want to suppress. So for

assign a space to it in the Dictionary Manager.

The short description of how to create a profile is to open the JAWS context

Re: Using OCR in Jaws 13?

George B

You would have to go to the next page and then do the ocr command again

Subject: Using OCR in Jaws 13?

Hi,

When using OCR in Jaws 13 and Windows XP, I often have a document with
multiple pages. How can I get Jaws to read me the subsequent pages,
after page one?
Thanks.

Claudia

Re: Punctuation announcements on jaws 13

Gerald Levy

One work around you might consider is to use the JAWS Dictionary Manager to assign a space for each punctuation mark you want to suppress. So for instance, if you wanted to suppress the announcement of ";", you could assign a space to it in the Dictionary Manager.

Greetings all.

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with win7, 64 bit and jaws 13.
I don't like punctuation marks to be announced. I had it set to "none";
but jaws continued to announce them. I spoke to FS tech support, who
advised me to change it to "some". I did; and still most punctuation marks
get announced.
Is this an unfixable bug in Jaws 13? Or is there a way around it?

Thanks very much in advance.

uh, press PAGEDown or whatever you need to press to advance to the
next page, and perform OCR again. repeat as necessary.

Convenient OCR is no substitute for an actual OCR application. It's
a quick solution for times when you may not be able to access
information, such as a pesky installation screen or short PDF
document. It's not meant for book reading.

For that you'll want one of the blindness specific OCR packages
like K1000 or Openbook, or an off-the-shelf OCR application like
Omnipage, FineReader, etc.

Greetings all.

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with win7, 64 bit and jaws 13.
I don't like punctuation marks to be announced. I had it set to
"none";
but jaws continued to announce them. I spoke to FS tech
support, who
advised me to change it to "some". I did; and still most
punctuation marks
get announced.

I have already set it to "none". It continues to announce punctuations. Hence, my query.

JAWS 12

Donna Vesely

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows if JAWS 12 works with the software Microsoft
Expressions Web and Design. My student will be using this program next year.
Thanks.

Using Yahoo's New Mailbox using JAWS

Rick Miller

I am aware of the shortcuts that Yahoo has created for its new mail structure. But where I am having trouble is getting to the table of messages. When I sign into Yahoo mail, just hitting the letter M does not take me to the table of messages in my inbox. Am I doing something wrong? If so, what? Have any of you managed the new Yahoo mailbox successfully? Perhaps you could give me some tips. Also, is there a way to turn the toolbar in Yahoo Mail off?

Re: Using OCR in Jaws 13?

Soronel Haetir

You have to have the application display the next page then trigger
the jaws OCR cycle again. The jaws OCR only works off of what is
actually on screen, it has no knowledge of the underlying document
that is being read.

For large documents or where quality matters the jaws OCR is not
really appropriate, there are far better tools for those cases, but
for the cases of PDFs that are a few pages long or graphical
installers it works pretty well.

Re: windows live essentials

David Bailes

Hi David,
unfortunately you won't find them all. For example on the view tab, you won't find the compact shortcuts button and the status bar button.

David.

Yes, but if you,
First alt+v=view,
