query about removing earlier version of Jaws

julie <memphis.magnolia@...>

I removed jaws 5.0 from my friend's computer and now it is asking something about video intercept when the computer boots up. Also when he enters outlook express and tries to send an e-mail message, it defaults to the edit field and neither of us can get to the "to" field. Any help appreciated.
Thank you,
Dan

Tom,

Try if you can use nlnotes.exe to start Lotus notes insteat of notes.exe.
You have to change the shortcut.

various trategies for using Jaws with it not to work in many instances.

For example, when I now go to my e-mail inbox, and hit enter on a message
from my message list, I can't read down through the message. My PC cursor
stops at the text of the message, and will not go any further. The only way
I can read the message is to pretend that I am replying to it, after which I
can scroll down through the message's initial text.

In addition, I'm finding it next to impossible to find and access
attachments from the various e-mails I receive.

I have called FS about this, and they have not been very helpful. I think
this is because Lotus Notes is not an e-mail program with which they work
every day.

I have consulted the Jaws Help Topics on Lotus Notes, and it seems as though
I have things configured as they suggest.

I am using Jaws 13.0.924 with Windows 7 at the office.

Does anyone have any Jaws scripts for Lotus Notes, or any helpful hints for
optimizing Jaws with it?

Thanks for whatever info or thoughts you can provide.

Sincerely,
Dr. Tom Behler from Michigan

It told me a bunch of things about configuring Jaws to work with what's called the Lotus Notes Work Place, which I did, with no joy.

I'm having trouble recalling what else, but it did not help.

Yikes! Lotus Notes sounds like a real mess. For reading messages, I'd suggest looking through the Lotus Notes help files and see if you can configure your email messages to plain text. That can help in Outlook, and it helps a great deal in finding attachments.
I've never used Lotus Notes. So the above is a pure guess, but it is at least worth a try.

Hello,
Also GMA games has an especially Jaws friendly client for playing Muds and:
http://audiogames.net/
is full of accessible games.

There's someone looking for blind testers to navigate a text environment using a screen reader. He doesn't want a veteran Mudder or IF reader, he just wants novices. See his email below:
Start quote:
Hello!

I'm doing research on text based online roleplaying games. It is specifically about parameters of immersion for blind and sighted players. If you are interested in participating in a small study about this, I would be happy, if you could aid me. It would be good, if you wouldn't have too much experience in playing Interactive Fiction or Multi-User-Dungeons, though.

The tests will be conducted throughout June and can be done at home, though with a skype or phone connection to me. The whole test shouldn't take longer than one and a half hour.

If you are interested in participating, please drop me an email: katta@frimble.net and then we can sort out the specifics.

Thanks in advance.
katta.
End quote.
I've heard it's quite fun and if I wasn't such a big fan of Muds I'd probably be able to do this...
Thanks,

Brandon Keith Biggs

I haven't done it, but I would have to imagine that there's got to be some
sort of Jaws speech scheme you can create with these parameters.
Outside of that, you can select one of the preloaded voice schemes to read a
document with the attributes and or colors, etc.
I do this when translating a document and need to maintain the integrity of
bolded, italicized, highlighted, and so on.

Subject: locating underlined or bolded text in word 2007

Hello: Is there a way I can look through a document in word 2007, and read
only bolded or underlined text (other than reading the document and checking
every line with insert+f) to check accuracy? Thanks.

Hi, Tracy. Are you using Adobe PDF Reader, or are you trying to read the PDF with some other reader?

Thank you.

If everything is set properly, insert (JAWS key) plus pagedown should read the status line, and that should say, for example2/9, indicating that you are on page 2 of 9, but this isn't 100% reliable.

Good morning list:

Running Jaws 12 on Windows XP and Windows 7 on two computers. How do I have Jaws tell me which page I'm currently reading?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I know you can right-click with the command shift f10 but I can't figure out
how to left click using the keyboard. Does anyone know how to do so? I
have a laptop not a desktop and I'm using JAWS 13.

thanks,

Dacia
