Re: Microsoft word 2002

Marquette, Ed <Ed.Marquette@...>

Ann's command worked in Word XP, which I think is around 2001 in terms of date, and it worked in Word 2003. I never had anything called Word 2002. So, I cannot help there, but it is odd that versions on either side of 2002 would work, but not Word 2002.
Be sure you hi the Alt key by itself. Then press control plus tab. This should get you among the tool bars. Once you have found the right tool bar, regular old tab or shift tab should get you where you need to go.
That worked in Word 2003 as recently as 3 minutes ago.

Re: Jaws commands

Marquette, Ed <Ed.Marquette@...>

Well, I can help with one of the three issues.
JAWS, to my knowledge, never says both the time and date with insert plus F-12. Rather, it just gives the time; however, to hear the date, repeat the same command immediately, or stated another way, press insert plus F-12 twice quickly. That will give you the date.
I'm pretty sure Window-Eyes insists on giving you both the time and the date.

the next time you boot up your computer, the trackpad will come back on, so after get booted up you'll have to turn it back off.

Question about Dell Track Pad

Dani Pagador

Hi, Everyone.
I've got a Dell Alien and every once in a while, speech stops but JFW is
still running (I know this b/c I can alt-tab between programs and see what
they are using my braille display.) I think that I bump up against the track
pad and inadvertently stop the speech.
I know that the function key+F12 turns the track pad on and off. But does it
stay off only for that session i.e., turn on again the next time the
computer boots up? Or is it something that stays off till I hit the function
key+F12 again? And where do I go to check the status of the track pad? I've
got tool tips turned on and am using beginner verbosity, but JFW doesn't
read the thing that sightlings see that comes on screen to say whether the
pad is on or off.
Thanks for any input,
Dani

Well, not sure which version of jaws your using,
However, if your using jaws13,
Why don't you just turn jaws speech off,
When your using the f9key,
Insert+spacebar, then the letter "s"=speech off.
This is a toggle so, one pres turns off, the next turns on.
Jaws will announce speech off, speech on.

What is Natural Reader? I've never heard of it.
Remember, in this program, you can create a config file with no speech.
Thus, when this program is focused, it uses the speech from this program,
Natural Reader, not JAWS.

I know this is possible, though I've never had the need to do this. I
think, for example, this is a technique that people can use with OpenBook.

Heya folks,

Am using Natural reader 9 when I do a control F9 to get the reader to talk
and read text in the programs text field that I've copied too, not only
does
the speech I select reads the text so does Jaws so am having a double
speech
affect happening. Is there anyway I can stop Jaws reading the text and
only
hearing the speech Ive selected? Pressing the control key to stop Jaws
talking here doesn't work.

I don't really want to put Jaws in sleep mode on this program as I want to
be able to use the commands and menus, so in other words just want to stop
Jaws reading mode within this program, is this possible?

Cheers,

Jim

Yes. I just confirmed by switching to JAWS 11 and testing the key
combination in key identifier mode. You can do this yourself by pressing
JAWS key+1 on the number row above the letters. While in this mode, you can
identify JAWS commands and shortcuts without triggering them.
