What happens if you use the Jaws pass key command which is the incert on the numpad with the number 3 on the top row of the keyboard?

Subject: Access Key in Firefox?

Hello,
I’m on a school website called Etudes and I’m using Firefox to take some quizzes that crash in IE. I’m wondering if there is something special I need to do to use the short cut key commands?
The access key in Firefox is alt + shift. I’ve tried using this, but Jaws says “Not in a table.” Is there a way to bypass this function so I can hit alt shift n and alt shift f along with all the other shortcut commands?
I’m using Jaws 11 with Windows 7.
Thank you,

Re: copying to clip board

John Miller

Hello,
With JAWS 13 and Matlab, the virtualize window command works for me. The
command is Insert+Alt+w.
After giving the command, I highlight with Shift+Down Arrow the lines of
interest.
Copy to clipboard with Ctrl+c and successfully paste to Notepad with Ctrl+v.
No need to write on my note taker many significant digits of an answer and
retype them in email!
Thank you.
Best regards,
John

For jaws 12 and 13 the keys are. alt insert w, virtualice the current

To copy the text you want to highlight to the clipboard, first virtualize
the focused window with the JAWS command Insert-Control-W or
Insert-Shifft-W
for JAWS 11 and higher. Once the window is virtualized, you can highlight
and copy text as you normally would. Once you have copied the highlighted
text to the clipboard, press Escape to exit the virtualized window and
return to normal mode.

Hello,
My name is John Miller. I am new to this list.
When I am at the Matlab command window, I can see text using the JAWS
cursor.
I want to copy to clip board the text near the JAWS cursor.
Any tips on how to do this?
Any direction to where to find documentation in JAWS help would also be
welcome.
Unfortunately the application does not allow moving to the text with the
arrow keys and highlighting it with SHIFT+Down Arrow as might be done in
Notepad.
Thank you.

Tom, using it on scanned pdf's is kind of the whole point.

Press insert+space then O for OCR. Then you decide whether
you want
the window, screen, or control recognized.

This doesn't take the place of using a dedicated OCR program to
deal with these situations, such as K1000, Openbook, Omnipage,
Textbridge ( if it's still available), FineReader, etc.

Re: Access Key in Firefox?

Press those number keys independently and, yes, they are quick navigation
keys. However, I said press the 3 key together with the JAWS key. That is
the pass-through key combination, which is what you were asking about. When
you press this combination, the keystroke that follows immediately will be
controlled by the active application, not JAWS.

Tom, using it on scanned pdf's is kind of the whole point.

Press insert+space then O for OCR. Then you decide whether you want
the window, screen, or control recognized.

This doesn't take the place of using a dedicated OCR program to
deal with these situations, such as K1000, Openbook, Omnipage,
Textbridge ( if it's still available), FineReader, etc.

Re: Access Key in Firefox?

Brandon Keith Biggs <brandonboy13@...>

Hello,
I have no idea what you are talking about, Jaws' number row just goes to headings I think... Is there a way to make alt + shift be 1? Or make a hot key be a number key?
The hot keys I use are: alt + shift + n, alt + shift + r, alt + shift + f and alt + shift + s.
Thanks,

Brandon Keith Biggs

Hello,
I'm on a school website called Etudes and I'm using Firefox to take some
quizzes that crash in IE. I'm wondering if there is something special I need
to do to use the short cut key commands?
The access key in Firefox is alt + shift. I've tried using this, but Jaws
says "Not in a table." Is there a way to bypass this function so I can hit
alt shift n and alt shift f along with all the other shortcut commands?
I'm using Jaws 11 with Windows 7.
Thank you,

Also on that page there's an audio file where they actually talk about the
