Tom,

If you're removing a USB drive, go to my computer and locate the drive you
want to remove. Then use your applications key if you have one. If not use
shift f10. You'll find a menu and one of the choices is eject. Press enter
and you're good to go. You can also press j from within the menu. Exit my
computer and you can then remove the drive.

HTH.

Dan

Go to my computer, find the disk. Without pressing enter on the disk,
press applications key and find eject. Press that. If nothing pops up on
your screen, it is safe to remove the disk.

Hi, all.

How do I safely remove USB devices so as to not risk coruption of SD cards
and thumb drives?

I do an Insert F11, but even when an SD card or thumb drive are present,
they do not show up on the list of system tray icons. therefore, I don't
know how to safely remove them.

Thanks!

Breaking a document

Roger White

I was wondering if there was an easy way to split a document?

I found where you can save the same document under a different name. Then delete the opposite part of the documents.

I wanted to separate a document that is almost 900 megabites.

Thanks

Roger

Hi Lauren
Just curious, as I'm from South Africa, what African language are you
learning? Another question for everyone, I love languages and for a
while now I've been toying with the idea to set up some sort of list
for blind people who want to, or are learning different languages to
share resources, tips and help in general, also connecting people who
would like to practice with one another on skype or something. Is
there enough interest out there for this?

Re: Introduction and a question on router accessibility with Jaws

Tom Lange

Hi Scott,

I've accessed my friend's older Linksys router with Jaws, and one of the newer Cisco routers, too until it got flakey on me and ultimately died. Don't know why that happened but it doesn't matter anyway. I replaced it with a Netgear a few months ago and it works fine, too. All of the aforementioned use a web-style interface which you get to by loading Internet Explorer or Firefox and going to the IP address for the router, which usually is http://192.168.1.1. The router manual should tell you what address to use.

Hope this helps.

Good morning List:

My name is Scott Van gorp and I have been a jaws user for several years both
personally and professionally. My first question for this list concerns the
accessibility of routers with the latest build of Jaws 13. I am considering
switching from my current internet provider to Mediacom cable for faster
speeds and a better price. If I go that route, I'm thinking I would rather
go with my own router to plug into the cable modem than pay a higher price
for their wireless access. Are there any recommendations for a good router
that I can control reliably with Jaws? Thanks for any help.

Re: Introduction and a question on router accessibility with Jaws

James Homuth

Yes, Linksys is a definite option. And since Cisco now owns them, I think
they use similar interfaces so even a Cisco router would work for ya. It's
been a while since I've used them, but another option is d-link. Last I saw,
they had one of the more accessible interfaces, but like I said it's kind of
been a while.

If you are trying to use the shortcut key combination, first press Alt plus Enter to enter the shortcut properties, and make sure that the shortcut key combination is still in the shortcut key dialogue.

Many times, after a repair or re install, the icon remains on the desktop, but the shortcut key combination disappears.

Yes, with insert and escape, you mean? It doesn't seem to make a
difference as to whether or not my comment posts, though, and friends

I don't have any trouble reading what others have written, pressing

it, but I don't seem to be able to get my comments to post. DDidn't
there used to be a "post comment" or "submit comment" button? Seems
like I can remember pressing something along those lines back in the

about fb to the point that JFW 11 no longer detects that button?

Subject: Trouble Posting Comments on Facebook

I am using Windows 7 with JFW 11 and have been able to successfully
post comments on Facebook in the past. Recently, however, I can only
get as far as filling in the comment box with what I want to write,
but I can't get it to post. If there's a "submit" or "post" button, my
screen reader's not detecting it, and just hitting enter doesn't seem
to do anything. Any suggestions?

Cordially,
Tina C.

Which fb site are you using?

Yes, with insert and escape, you mean? It doesn't seem to make a
difference as to whether or not my comment posts, though, and friends
are saying that they can't see any of the comments I've been writing.
I don't have any trouble reading what others have written, pressing
the like button, or getting to a comment box and writing something in
it, but I don't seem to be able to get my comments to post. DDidn't
there used to be a "post comment" or "submit comment" button? Seems
like I can remember pressing something along those lines back in the
times when I successfully posted comments. Did they change something
about fb to the point that JFW 11 no longer detects that button?

Cordially,
Tina, calling it a night

Hi,
To post it, you need to activate virtual cursor (Numpad Plus), then press B
which should land you at comment button.
Cheers,
Joseph
