Hi,
Jaws 8 was the first version to use SAPI voices on included CDs.

Hi, all
A While ago jaws used many SAPI voices before the real speak. I think it
came with jaws 7, Does anyone remember which jaws was it?

Re: Microsoft Word and setting margins

michael grove <attackfisherman1@...>

I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the ribbons on window
seven. The first thing you should know is that all of the shortcut keys
that you are used to using will still work. The second thing is that you
should go into your jaws startup wizard and check the box to enable virtual
ribbons. This will let you navigate a lot closer to the way you are used to
doing. The only other thing is to let you know that you have to tab through
the ribbon sometimes and arrow the rest of the time. The good news is that
you can get used to them with just a little practice. They are going to be
around for along time and become used with a lot more programs in the
future, so you will have to learn to adjust. Hope this helps you. Mike

Agree. Until I have a chance to try one at a store, the whole concept of
doing touch-typing for long periods of time with a vertical surface makes my
wrists hurt, just thinking about it. What an ergonometric nightmare! Perhaps
these were designed by, or funded by the AMA to get future business?

Abbie;
Yes, you are correct, one does use their finger on the computer screen
perpindicularly. I've seen people do it but haven't tried it myself. They
also have a keyboard. I hear one can turn off this touch feature; what I do
not know and wonder about myself is their duol ways of doing something like
either touch or keyboard? I sure don't want to lean over to try and focus on
some place on the screen in order to find where to touch. The touch screen
on an iPad and iPhone is easier because of being able to hold it at the
right angle.

I'm not sure of the difference between a touch computer and a tablet, such
as the I Pad. With the pads, you have internet connectivity and the input
device is your finger. With a conventional desktop computer, the input
device is a keyboard or mouse. The monitor is perpendicular to your real
desktop so a sighted person can look at the screen. This would make using
your finger difficult and tiring. I wonder what Windows eight does about
that. Has anyone seen a demo?

Alt+p, then right arrow twice, then down arrow once, then spacebar. But
you're still using the ribbon. Something you'll eventually get used to.
Hardest part is figuring out where to look for things you used to find all

Hope this helps,

I did not send them multiple times. It's some problem with the list.

Re: [Bulk] [Bulk] [Bulk] reading email in outlook 2010

Dave...

Chris,

It may not be Outlook 2007 or 2010, but in how JAWS interacts with those
versions. I tend to blame JAWS, since it's fairly recent (Jaws 12/13) for
me.

Oy, makes me almost not want to upgrade to Outlook 2010. Right now, with
Outlook 2003, I have the reading pain set to bottom and autopreview checked
so as I'm arrowing up or down in the list of messages, Jaws will read the
first couple of lines of the email without me having to bother to open every
single one and I can decide to delete it or not quickly.

I continued having the problem off and on even after I changed it to right,
so it seems there is no clear cut solution. However, I never tried killing
jaws and reviving it, but I will do that the next time jaws decides to give
me the silent treatment when reading.

Take care.

Kimsan,

More mystified now. I never have the reading pane turned on. Without the
reading pane I can read any message once I've opened it. However like you
reported, there are times when only the first line of a message reads and
the rest is stuck. That's when I need to kill JAWS and launch it again to
fix the problem.

Very interesting, but unfortunately not an answer to my problem.

Lol, sorry clicked send to fast.
Under the view menu and reading pain it was set to off and I put it at
right. For some reason when I had it on bottom also, it was not reading.
Thanks for reading my emails!

Subject: reading email in outlook 2010

Hi,

I had a brain freeze and don't remember how to fix this?

Using outlook 2010 when I open an email, it only reads the first line
and when I arrow down nothing is being said. When I compose an email,
I can arrow up or down and jaws will read it, however when I open an
email and read it, the above happens.

Does anyone have a fix for this or notes?

Thanks.
