Hi,

I got this from Wikipedia.

Draconian is an adjective meaning great severity, that derives from
Draco,
an Athenian law scribe under whom small offences had heavy
punishments
(Draconian laws).

Roger Loran Bailey <rogerbailey81@...>

It occurs to me that perhaps it would be better to replace the entire phrase "Re: [Bulk]" with nothing. Not only would that be even less likely to appear in an email, notwithstanding that it just did in this one, but then you would get rid of the extraneous re and the word bulk at the same time while preserving re for emails that you might want to know are replies. Would that work?

Roger,

[bulk] and make that the dictionary word to be replaced with a blank
space.
That text string is not very likely to show up in general E-Mail text.
Also
don't make it a change to your default dictionary, but just to the

Just found a solution to one of my pet peeves.

Even though I suppress the [bulk] in my subject line, I still got a
repetition of the RE: RE: RE: RE: and finally found the correct dictionary
entry to fix it.

It wasn't simply Re: replaced by a blank space
It also didn't work with Re: space replaced by a blank space
It required a leading space Re: space replaced by a blank space to do it.

Don't know why the leading space was so important, but it was.

Hello everyone:

I think I have found the solution not to have JAWS speak "re:" and "[bulk], in the subject line of a message, when they appear as consecutive words, once, twice, thrice, no matter how many times they are repeated. Of course, neither will they be spoken if they appear in the body of a message, if they appear as consecutive words in the same way.

When you are in Outlook Express, press INSERT/JAWS KEY+D, to open the JAWS Dictionary Manager. This will automatically open the JAWS Dictionary file for Outlook Express.

You should hear JAWS say "add... button". Press ENTER, to open the dialog box. In the Dialog, there are two edit fields, which are named: "Actual Word" and "Replacement Word".

In the "Actual word" edit field, type:

Re: space [Bulk] space

Tab to the "Replacement Word" edit field and enter a space character.

Press ENTER, to accept the entries and close the dialog box.

Press CTRL+S, to save the updated Outlook Express Dictionary file.

Press ALT+F4, to close the JAWS Dictionary Manager.

The advantage in doing it this way, is that if "re:" and [bulk] appear in the body of the message as separate words
, JAWS will speak them.

I have just done this myself and it works file for me.

press JawsKey+D from within the application whose dictionary file you want to modify.
Don't do it from the desktop. Do it from within your email program.

Personally,
I don't know how, so I am putting up with them. I do note, though,

Re: [Bulk] [Bulk] [Bulk] [Bulk] [Bulk] jaws 13

Dave Durber

HTH

Hi,

I got this from Wikipedia.

Draconian is an adjective meaning great severity, that derives from
Draco,
an Athenian law scribe under whom small offences had heavy
punishments
(Draconian laws).

Roger,

As pointed out, leave the left and right brackets with the word, as in
[bulk] and make that the dictionary word to be replaced with a blank space.
That text string is not very likely to show up in general E-Mail text. Also
don't make it a change to your default dictionary, but just to the
dictionary linked to your E-Mail application.

The trouble with setting JAWS to replace the word bulk with nothing
though, is that you might be reading something else in which the word
bulk appears and it will lead to confusion if you do not hear it.

It has already been explained that the origin of the bulk is your
ISP, so it is up to you to suppress them if you know how. Personally,
I don't know how, so I am putting up with them. I do note, though,
that I am not getting bulk in the subject line from any other email
list I am in, so it must have something to do with the list too. That
is, something about the list must be triggering something in your ISP
that identifies the messages as spam or something akin to spam.

Hello try the following;

1, windows-key+e=windows explorer.

2, alt+t=tools,

3, O=options,
Now shift+tab to general.

4, right arrow one time to view tab.

5, now tab to the tree view.

6, now press the letter "u",
You most likely will hear;
Use check boxes to select items on!
Press the spacebar to turn off,
Now tab ok and press enter.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone know why jaws is saying checked to all the icons on the desktop

Also in the internet explorer instead of www it is saying some weird numbers

Any suggestions? All the help is much appreciated.

So, make sure the dictionary entry includes [] brackets around bulk, not just the word.. I doubt that exact text string is going to crop up in the body of an email.
