Accessible digital TV tuner card

Marilyn Rushton <mrushton@...>

Hello, listers,

Can anyone recommend a digital TV tuner card that will work with JAWS 12? I
am running Windows XP 2002 Home Edition with Service Pack 3.

With thanks,

Marilyn in Canada.

Re: results of how to activate audio in safe mode

Excuse my language but holy crap! It worked on my windows 7 64 bit machine.
After I booted into safe mode, turned on NVDA I was good to go!
I have no reason right now to go into safe mode but at least I have a way to
perform it now.

HI Dave,

Below is the SendSpace Link for the audio sound in Safe Mode .REG file.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/03tej9

I tested it before posting to make sure it works, but if it doesn't work for
you for whatever reason contact me off list & I'll send you a Dropbox
download link. Take care.

Because, if other list members did get the attached files, then there

Outlook 2010 works well with jaws, especially 12. 12 is the version that is
recommended to use when using 2010.

Outlook 2007 is the only one I know of that is compatible with jaws and it
works so well I don't change it so I haven't tried 2010 and don't see a
need too change it seems the more they try too make things better the more
they break so stick with what works

Adrian stated in an earlier message that reply directly to sender works. My
issue is that I am noticing it isn't working. It did when I was using
outlook 07 but not outlook 2010. Hmmm. Thoughts?

Re: audio in safe mode

Bissett, Tom <tom.bissett@...>

I know what safe mode is, but I don't know what we are doing here.
Are we setting up to use an external speaker or synthisizer. Will jaws talk in safe mode using this?
I would love to have my computer to speak in safe mode. To often I have to walk sited help through what I want done in safe mode.
Any information is appreciated.
Regards
Tom Bisset

Issues with PayPal and Jaws

Cristóbal

Hello list,

Today after logging into PayPal while in Firefox, Jaws has behaved rather
oddly.

Logging in is fine and even the next screen where you have to click if the
page lasts for more than 5 seconds, but once I’m in my overview page, JFW
will behave as though the virtual cursor is turned off and all I get is Jaws
saying menubar. When I do an alt+tab, Jaws says closing menubar, but when I
cycle back to the PayPal window, it’s as though the menubar is open again.
Tabbing, pressing escape or refreshing the page doesn’t help either.

This doesn’t happen in IE8. Only Firefox. I’m using FF6, but that shouldn’t
be a problem since it was working fine yesterday. I’ve tried logging in a
couple of times and still no luck.

I’m using JFW 11.0 (I have 12, but prefer JFW 11).

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Kimsan is asking about the insert-shift-r reply to sender command. Judging
by many reports on this list over time, it doesn't work on all systems for
all email clients.

Regarding your earlier message, many JAWS users have no choice about email
client at work.

Hello there:

I would loved to have used the files you say were attached to your
email message.

Unfortunately, the attached text files you talk about in your email do
not appear to have either been attached or, they were rejected by the
JFW list email server or, by some other method.

Could it be that the email server which is being used to host this
list, does not allow attachments, or, is it that the
owners/administrators of this list, have turned off the function which
would allow attachments.

Below the last line of your email message, the following information
was displayed.

Hi every body
for those of you who repair systems & for those who would find this
helpful.

I have attached 2 text files that when you change the extention to
.reg & run them they will do the following.

1. Activate Sound in SafeMode
this will add a set of registry keys to the safe mode tree that will
enable audio in safe mode, in both safe mode & safe mode with
networking.
Depending on the chipset as to whether the onboard audio will load,
how ever the microsoft USB audio will always load, so all you need is
a USB headset & use NVDA for the screen reader.
I have used this on many different chipsets & so far the onboard
audio has loaded, but shore there will be a chipset that wont like to
play But as I said the headset is all you need.
I have used this on XP, W7 32 & 64 bit.

2. remove Activate Sound in SafeMode.
this will as it says remove the registry keys once your done if you
want to remove them.

I hope a lot of you find this helpful & please pass this onto all
your VIP techy friends.

Because, if other list members did get the attached files, then there

Re: Using AVG Security 2011 with JAWS

I use AVG pro and no pro.
Once you install you can easily schedule to scan your pc daily. When I download a file after AVG is installed:
Highlight file download
press application key
arrow down to AVG and enter
scan begins
alt+tab to AVG session
I then press alt+s for scan results and history
control+end to bottom of history report
file shows that scanned and no trouble reported.

Hi just downloaded AVG 2011 30 day trial version. I don't know how it
was before but the current version is accessible. I won't say 100% but
it's useable. I was able to go in to the control pannel change some
settings, I'm able to click on all buttons and I'm currently busy
doing a scan.

I assume you mean the free version? it is wise to ask since for a time a

after many protests, I used to use it but not now my reason and I am not
sure why this happens is although I set it correctly once information was
saved in an external drive and then put onto another computer avg tags
them
very often as attachments, when they are not. also getting rid of it is
hard
it needs almost digging out of your registry,I am using essentials and
malware bytes,hope I have spelt that right,and on both a windows 7
machine
and an old XP and they are fine regards

Subject: Using AVG Security 2011 with JAWS

Hello,

I would like to hear from anyone who has tried using the new AVG
Internet
Security 2011 with JAWS.
I am using the latest build of JAWS 12. Before upgrading from AVG 9 to
AVG
2011; I would like to hear the experiences of those who have tried this
version of AVG. I am not looking for any specific guidance on using
this
product. I am simply wanting to confirm whether or not this latest
version
is still accessible using JAWS.

Thanks.

Regards.

Tony
